I'm with Virgin too but their DNS is mince. I use opendns as the performance is way higher. Do you use a superhub as your router or do you use it in modem mode with your own router? My ISP is Virgin. I'm in the UK.

I use the superhub.
Of course, the glitch still exists in Safari and if the Apple servers go pop again it will result in the same problems until Apple fix Safari so that it carries on if it gets duff info from Apple.
Had nothing to do with Google etc. It's the lookups from Apple, the safari suggestions (used to be spotlight suggestions). Over 30 iMacs and MacBooks in one office today all with a mix of Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo as the search provider all 'fixed' by disabling 'include safari suggestions'And/or Google's servers go pop as it only affected having Google set as default search engine. DuckDuckGo had no problems.
Hmm would that not mean it should work if I turn wifi off and use 4G? Because it's still not working over 4G either. The servers HAVE been fixed, the issue lies with the DNS records which are being served by your ISP or carrier. Once they update their DNS records your device will work, at this point the fault lies with your ISP or carrier for having laggy DNS servers, might be worth using opendns as their performance is likely to be better than the ones you are using now.

Me too.My ISP is Virgin. I'm in the UK.

Me too.
I deleted by browsing history and it seems to have done the trick on my iPad Air 2. I'll try it on my MBA. Thanks.Have you cleared the safari cache? I had to do that on my iPad pro earlier, my phone had been fine all day but the iPad had the issue this morning.

My iPad is using DuckDuckGo as default, but until the fix I had those problems.And/or Google's servers go pop as it only affected having Google set as default search engine. DuckDuckGo had no problems.
It seems that there's a confusion about the issue that was present--it wasn't related to search suggestions used in Safari, it was related to Safari suggestions, which is a separate although somewhat similar/related feature and setting altogether.And/or Google's servers go pop as it only affected having Google set as default search engine. DuckDuckGo had no problems.
My devices were working just fine too then as of yesterday safari started crashing on my iphone6Didn't know there was an issue! All devices are working fine on my end, even with safari suggestion on.
But it's good to have a workaround just in case, hope they fix soon.
Have you cleared your browser history? This is still affecting me in the UK.

Me too, but I'd rather not clear my browsing history. If it's still not working in the morning however, then I will clear it.Have you cleared your browser history?
This only happened for a day, the issue is fixed ( maybe not everywhere, like in Merthyr Tydfil), that is hardly a case of buggy software, more a glitch. And I would say software is better than it was five years ago. Apple Maps has improved dramatically since, the design got much better, iOS got way more powerful. Under Tim Cook things have improved over the years.Apple has become a creator of buggy software. A sad situation for a company that was pretty good just five years Ago.
Pretty sure there were issues around five years ago, and six years ago, and beyond.Apple has become a creator of buggy software. A sad situation for a company that was pretty good just five years Ago.
the applecare advisors don't have any inside information on when this bug will get fixedSpoke to an AppleCare representative today who immediately gave the turn off search suggestions fix and said Apple is aware of the issue and they should have it fixed today.
Well, seems like it got addressed today.the applecare advisors don't have any inside information on when this bug will get fixed
EDIT: Nevermind. Did not see the "update." But still, tech support doesn't have any information like that. That advisor took a lucky guess lolWell, seems like it got addressed today.
