EDIT: Nevermind. Did not see the "update." But still, tech support doesn't have any information like that. That advisor took a lucky guess lol
Possible, or it's also possible that there was some bulletin/communication issued to the support team about the issue and the progress Apple was making so that they could respond to what was likely an influx of customer contacts at that time.

Pretty sure there were issues around five years ago, and six years ago, and beyond.
I've used Apple Computers, Pads, Pods and Phones since Apple's first Notebook Computer was released in 1991. The PowerBook 100 Series. Yes it's a computer and yes there's always some annoyances, bugs, and hardware issues from time to time. However I have also been using PC'S Concurrently. Windows was never as refined, smooth and as bug free as Apple. Year after year I've put tens of thousands of hours on Apple's various models both as my mission critical work machine and personal favorite for all other tasks I do. So the point is simply that when one has put as much time in as I have over all those years, the buggy issues I've endured in the last three or four years really stand out. It's as straightforward as that.

Still not working for me on iOS (iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.3 DP2). I wasn't affected on OS X.

On your Mac empty safaris cache then flush your DNS cache by:

Open Terminal
Type in
dscacheutil -flushcache
Then press enter

This didn't work for me. Does anyone know how to fix this problem on a Mac? Safari is unusable at the moment.

Thanks.

URL searches, autocomplete, Top Sites and other Safari features rely on queries being sent to and returned by Apple's servers [...]
Come on, Apple. There was a time when Microsoft was evil. Then Google became evil too. Now you. No wonder the Mac has become a shadow of what it was. The ideals that built the Mac are gone. Forever. Do you remember the PC vs Mac ads, with the cool dude and the suit guy? Now Apple is the suit guy (well, not exactly, has a tinted blonde hair now and a tattoo, but it's basically the suit guy).

Fix didn't work for me till this very hour. Seems like it was rolled out country by country (or language).

Turn off safari search suggestions 'include safari suggestions' toggle inside safari preferences under the search tab.

As a constant Mac user since 1989 (Mac Plus being my first Mac) exactly the way I feel about it.

I read that the dodgy data is cached and can take up to 24 hours to become invalid, so the problem may still be persisting for some people right now

My iPhone took until this morning.

My Mac took until this afternoon.

It's not the search engine … I had duckduckgo set as default and Safari crashed until I turned off Safari suggestions.
I use duckduckgo, and the problem appeared on my iMac (OS 10.11.3, Safari 9.0.3). Turning off Safari suggestions fixed it.

Confirmed, tried turning off Safari suggestions and crashed iOS still. so if that was a "potential" workaround, its not working at all. Using iOS 9.2.1.

Since my always clear browsing history and website data after i previously close browser that's not issue issue, cos i make sure it was cleared before opening and browsing to said site,

I had the same issue. I think when you chose your default search engine to DuckDuckGo, the problem is fixed.
