Safe to buy 6s or are defects still likely?

If TC is really worried to THAT extent, get the phone at an Apple store, not a carrier shop. Returns and exchanges will be much easier through the Apple store due to on-site Genius people, greater inventory stock and their awesome 14 day no questions asked return policy.

Basically the title. I don't want to go through the exchange lottery. After getting a defective 6s+, I returned it and set my eyes on the 6s instead, but I'm worried I'll have to shuffle through screens with dead pixels or terrible tint imbalances. Do you think Apple has worked out the kinks?

Got my 6S three days in. Perfect in my estimation. Problem free. Are you able to get directly from a store and thus able to check out first?

i must just be lucky. all of my launch day iphones have been issue free
My launch day 6s is perfect, and actually the only iPhone I've had in seven years that is, right out of the box. But that run included a 3GS and a 5 both bought late in their respective runs and still needing replacement, so no point in waiting for perfection either way..

Your standard is way higher than apple QA. Make sure you get the best combination out of over 30 possible and include the stuff you mentioned.

There usually aren't any problems in the first place, and waiting to buy the device isn't going to fix anything :) Just buy it as everything will more than likely be ok, and if you don't like it return it :)

You should wait at least a year to make sure all is good.
There aren't any problems, there rarely are. And if there was a problem it would not take a year for Apple to fix it. If you wait a year all you're doing is wrecking your chances of being able to upgrade when the newest device comes out.

Thanks for those wonderful words of wit.

I know the OP said its not OCD but I just find it unlikely that you went through 4 device and every one had some sort of defect. If i went through 4 devices I would skip the 6s all together. There's always going to be issues if you're looking for it.

You can find it unlikely, but that doesn't mean it's not true.

My devices and their defects:

4th gen iPod touch: light leak first time, dead pixels second time.

iPhone 4s: Dead pixels first time, black circle in camera second time, broken Wi-Fi third time.

iPhone 5s: Dead pixels first time, dust under the screen second time.

iPhone 6s+: Uneven display tint and pinching issue first time. God knows what's coming the second time.

Every man-made product will always have defective units. For a competent and successful company like Apple, they're usually a very small percentage of the tens of millions of products that they ship.

I am shocked you even buy Apple products. As far as the 6S+, nothing has changed. You will still have a great chance of more bad luck after looking at your above list.

I've gone through 3 now, and if I do get another 6S Plus with a bad display I am going to give up and stick with my 6 Plus.

Going to wait a while before trying again and perhaps these problems will be solved by then.

Reported everyone who decided to try be a smartass with me.

So, has anyone purchased an iPhone 6s or 6s+ recently and notice any defects on theirs? I think knowing how recently purchased iPhones are would help in my decision.

Of the multiple iPhone 6 Plus and 6S Plus models I bought for family the 6 series are much better handsets. The hardware is what I'm commenting on.

The list of 6S faults is longer and involves more risk since replacements I've received are just as bad. One exception, but overall I'd seriously suggest waiting.

Also early unconfirmed rumors, but from excellent sources intimate the iPhone 7 to be a wonderful truly significant improvement. It's going to be the phone to have. That's my take on it.

If wrong, it'll still be much better than iPhone 6S series.

Very unfortunate. iPhone 5s was just as bad too.

Can't tell if you're trolling on those last two lines though...

I'm simply sharing my honest thoughts and experiences.

Overall I've been a very satisfied Apple customer for two decades.

That's my truth :D
