It would be interesting to see how reactions to these Android devices would change if they could run iOS.
I speak from first hand personal experience with Android as its implemented in my Nexus 6P, Moto X Pure and Samsung Galaxy S6. Compared to my iPhone 6S Plus, Android is more reliable, smoother, and a far nicer experience than iOS 9.2.1.

Make No Mistake... I'm Not bashing Apple!
I simply wish they'd apply themselves and give us the quality experience they Brag About.

The s7 is impressive but I'm sorry where's this dominance you speak of? They said the same thing about the s6 last year. But hey I know things can change. Sammy could sell 100 million+ in a quarter and that dominance would be evident. Until then...

Pair them up side by side, stick to the objective, and keep the subjective devoted rhetoric canned response out of it. Dominance. No worries though, they got pills for how you're feeling right now.

Thread full of the usual bickering; objective articles and reviews online all seem AWFULLY reminiscent of a certain "upgrade" release last September: 'mostly moderate upgrades, and a compelling option for owners of older phones - those with the most recent (last year's) version, however, probably are better off waiting.'

Always fun to read all of the predictable "gripes" with Apple prior to any sort of release. Waiting to see what actually happens BEFORE pulling out the soapboxes... so boring, I guess.

Edge model is still sexy... I wish it was a Nexus device. I'll wait until the 2017 response to the iPhone 7 to speculate on their future. I don't think this is enough for Samsung to threaten Apple at that premium tier, and definitely not enough to fend off the acceleration of competition from cheaper Android models - especially the Chinese ones.
It isn't Samsung's fault the average user is clueless and buys a phone for the fashion brand that is Apple.

Premium phones have super AMOLED displays, sharp cameras, wireless charging, fast charging, 3+ GB of RAM, 400+ PPI, magnetic stripe technology, NFC, and a quality, wide angle front camera.

The iPhone has an average LCD display, a mediocre front facing camera, an average rear camera, average charging, 2 GB of RAM, NFC, no magnetic stripe technology, no wireless charging, and 326-400 PPI.

Not to mention in the looks department. Gee, a glass and metal finish with no ugly antenna lines? I know a phone that has those ugly features.

I don't know if I'd say 'clueless' as much as I'd say complacent.

For a lot of people owning a smartphone is like car insurance, your electric company, the pharmacy you're registered with, if you're pretty happy with the product, you don't actively shop for something else unless there is a compelling reason for you to do so. When there phone gets old or it's time to upgrade, they pretty much replace what they had.

This is the biggest market advantage Apple has going right now is a large base of happy customers who are going to not even look around when it's time to upgrade every 1-3 years.

I know a lot of people that stay with Apple because of the ecosystem. They are afraid to change and/or don't want the hassle. I know it was a great concern when I switch my personal (not work) phone to Android several years ago.

I don't discount Apple's hardware or software at all. I just prefer Android now - for both hardware and software. One of the key things is simply being able to choose my own default apps.

Apple's user base isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I think "int he future" there may be more people going back and forth between platforms. There's a lot more parity among the OSes than ever before. The ecosystem "challenge" will always be there, of course.

Guess samsung is smart always directly comparing that ugly average iPhone to their phones. How's that working out for them?

Like I've said, it isn't Samsung's fault people would rather buy something for the sake of saying, "I have an Apple iPhone." Samsung sells more phones on a worldwide basis, so not really sure where your logic is coming from.

This new Samsung galaxy s7 looks amazing but doesn't change the problem which google gives thanks to region restriction. If there was no issue with region restriction in getting apps and using credit card then i but samsung galaxy s7 but won't thanks to this issue.

I can't get a single pay app, can't use my billinh address and have to use vpn or go to another country to get free apps.

We've heard your pain throughout this thread. It's a tough situation. But when the population of the region impacted is less than a lot of big city suburbs, there aren't a lot of people who are going to feel your pain.

Thanks to Steve Jobs, Tim Cook has an easy road to keep Apple profitable for the time being... That is until the company starts showing signs of losing steam, which they have already started doing. The only reason Apple isn't losing more money, is because they take away features and quality in favor of profit margins, i.e: making the phone thinner, cheaping out on the aluminum the first time around, keeping the base storage at 16 GB, etc.

I agree with this. There has to be a specific pain point that outweighs satisfaction to get someone to switch. That's why it was smart for Apple to go "big" with their screen. Another aspect of consumerism (and people in general) is that you don't know what you don't know. If you're using an iPhone - you're used to using Apple's Apps. For better or worse. A lot of people "manage." Many don't consider the utility in being able to choose their own native app. And since they are so rooted in Apple's apps - they might not even want to because of any learning curve.

Obviously you have no idea how ridiculous you sound comparing existing technology/feature with a non-existent yet so promising one.

That's why I wrote IF apple succeeds in this kind of technology. Learning to read to fully understand the context is something you definitely need to work on.

Your waterproof comment is hysterical to me. Really? So you can put a phone underwater for a half hour but you don't consider that 'really" waterproof? Planning on swimming with your phone for more than 30 min? The purpose is in case you drop it in a toilet, a pool, a puddle, use it in the rain. It's not meant to go scuba diving with.

If someone is going to remove the SIM tray and your SD card, it's just as easy and faster to steal your whole phone. Security risk? Pal - you're reaching here.

No need to get emotional about it. Merely stating that half an hour water resistant is not the same as fully waterproof. No need to get hysterical about it.

You know nothing about smartphone buying/selling plans and strategies. I would suggest doing some research, and you may be able to find a better way to get the device you want, and get a newer one on a more frequent basis.

Thanks, but I'm in Canada, our plans and strategies are different than yours.

Nice job starting out with "you know nothing about..." speaks values about you as a human being. Especially when you're full of ignorant assumptions.

How is anything in my post hysterical/emotional? I'm laughing at the absurdity of your earlier (and now this) post. Being able to submerge something at least a foot for 30 min is definitely waterproof. Not water resistant. But feel free to come up with your own definitions...

There is no peak iphone , it is all marketing bs.
In 2014 with the iphone 6 they had " too much" growth, about 44% or something like that.
If 2014 showed 22% and 2015 22% or something like that, we wouldn' t hear all this crap.
2014 was just too much growth, it is impossible to match that in just one year.
The only way to please investors was apple besting 2014 by another 69%. An impossible task...

Exactamondo, if you look objectively and put emotions aside, it's clear that the S7 is superior to both the 6s and 6S plus. And it should be since it's coming out 6 months afterwards. Apple fans, don't panic, your phone is still solid either way.

.

"more" is so subjective. Every fan of a smartphone company is able to "brag" about their phones being the best. Like youngsters after gym, bragging about who has the fattest and longest when taking a shower. These days all the so called "high"-end smartphones are performing just great. It's merely nitpicking when stating "which phone is truly the best".

Next to subjective it's also a matter of which criteria one is handling to answer the question: which is the best phone. Apple might not have the best specs but it does have an outstanding ecosystem and a very good insurance policy, also with offering technical supports. In my country for example Samsung is been dragged to court due the fact they don't offer technical support over two years time after a new Samsung device has been released. This is especially the case with older, less high-end models of Samsung.

So yes, the new Galaxy S7 might perform better in various ways but when I look to the overal picture then I can't conclude other then these phones are pretty much close to each other when answering which phone would be the "best".
For me personally I couldn't care less. For my an iPhone is just a smartphone to call with and to keep in contact with my clients, but hey, all the smartphones are able to just that...
The only reason I prefer an iPhone is because I work in an Apple ecosystem, both on laptops and macpro's. The most handy feature of the iPhone is simply the possibility to take on phonecalls when I'm working on my macpro even tough my iPhone is not within reach and the possibility to take on the phonecall from the macpro back to the iPhone when I need to leave the office.

Everybody has his or her favorite plusses or minus points when dealing with the question "which is the best phone". But the truth of the matter is, that at the end all the high end smartphones do pretty much the same.

Your phone is indeed superior.
Why waisting time with telling us on a apple forum.
Go and play with it and be happy for the next 6 months with your s6s.
In 6 months i will go to a samsung forum and tell you about the iphone 7.
Oh wait, i won' t !!!

What is the frustration with these types, i really don' t understand these " mine is bigger than yours" types.

I tell you about it because this thread is Samsung related. If you knew you were going to catch feelings why did you bother coming to a Samsung thread? There are plenty of iPhone only related threads, but you chose to come to a Samsung thread...why? Maybe it's envy...

I already told you, i.m.h.o. waterproof means it can stay under water without any time conditions. We agree to disagree and that's that ;)

We're the best! You guys had to open up a Samsung thread in an apple forum, you basically invited us ;)
But why are you even looking at an apple forum?
Want to know which features the galaxy s8 will have?
No headphone jack?

Come on, what is the use of telling us apple users how great your samsung is on a apple forum?
Too much time on your hands? You want to win this oh so important war and save human lives? LOL
