Still uses the crappy Android OS, which requires more ram due to it's Java based system and clean up "garbage" routines. Great - we are not advancing too much - same software different box.

The purpose is in case you drop it in a toilet, a pool, a puddle, use it in the rain. It's not meant to go scuba diving with.

Well you could scuba dive with it long enough for an unboxing video :)

Just imagine if Apple did this. The forums here would be melting down. Samsung does it...... "eh, but its only for half an hour". lol absurd.

Indeed. Fun video to watch. It almost never occurred to me that one might use this to take pictures underwater. I was more inclined to look at it more from a safeguard use case. Given the quality of Samsung's camera - definitely a plus.

Your phone is indeed superior.
Why waisting time with telling us on a apple forum.
Go and play with it and be happy for the next 6 months with your s6s.

Oh wait, i won' t !!!

What is the frustration with these types, i really don' t understand these " mine is bigger than yours" types.

Stop being such an apologist.

No way, 80 billion in profits isn't enough man, how dare you criticize Apple's profit margin, gotta stay at 40% and increase to 45% this year, I'd suggest offering 8GB for iPhone 7 since you know, Apple music and icloud takes care of everything. ;)

/sarcasm

Except that....

(1) Only 32GB in the US on this S7, meaning that if I were to use it as a primary device I would at the start have to offload apps onto a less efficient and slower form of storage.

(2) You are exaggerating profit margins. They are readily available, go look them up. Don't be sloppy if you're going to go bashing a company.

(3) For me, 128GB of on-board, super fast storage and 200GB of Cloud storage takes care of a 10,000 song, 200 Movie library, about 6,000 Photos and 225 Apps. I have all that in my pocket at all times.

The S7 looks nice - I'll give Samsung credit they've started to make some really nice looking devices. I'll probably pick one up to test out the camera. Otherwise, some questionable decisions made re the storage and some of the more gimmicky features (a phrase used by a friend of mine who is HIGHLY into Samsung and hates Apple).

Looks like an iphone even down to the interface and button design. Why do these companies have to copy everything apple does.

I am all for having options, but you are BY FAR the minority is this type of usage. 225 apps, I don't understand how a phone would even function assuming a good portion of those apps have some sort of active usage with the phone. I would think 32GB would cover 99% of users app space.

This confirms to me that Apple has some sort of subliminal brain control chip in their devices. I couldn't smoke enough pot (I live in Oregon, don't judge) to dumb my brain down enough to look at the Galaxy 7 and think.... 'that is just an iphone copy'.

The 40% is accurate, up from 38% the year before. The 45% is a sarcastic figure in case you didn't catch it ;), but ironically it doesn't sound out of place judging by the amount of greed Apple is putting out lately. The bottom line is 16gb base storage is insulting and there is no way to excuse this.

Knowledge is a great thing. Before the 6splus I had years of android, everyone rooted. 3 were still replaced. Just don't be a smart ass when ya bring it in and they will swap it out
Sammy pay is a minor loss for all the freedom in trade

It isn't even about being a smartass. Jailbreaking doesn't void the warranty. Simply put, any damages caused by jailbreaking are not covered under the warranty. If the jailbreak didn't cause the damage, then it's going to be covered.

My source? I used to train iOS Tier 1 and Tier 2 as well as iPod Tier 1.

I think Samsung should also offer a 128GB for those that want more internal store. But realistically all the criticism about "slow" sd cards may be getting weakened by the fact that sd cards keep getting faster all the time. And realistically, how fast do you need your internal storage to be to load a song?

And by the way, those 128GB in your iPhone, you still need to sync media through a USB 2.0 bottleneck, so all that internal speed is useless for syncing.

Is this like the nerd version of having a big truck to compensate for ...... ?

I can't get the movie thing at all on those tiny screens. I didn't enjoy watching a movie on my 13" laptop when I did that a few years ago. A 5 inch screen or slightly bigger... forget about that. That person better not have a flat screen anyone near them when they are phone theatre-ing. It takes all kinds to make a world I guess, some like to have terabytes of data when they leave the house. Leaving the house may be a lie but perhaps they do. ;)

It's teasing sarcasm for anyone offended for whatever reason. If you are offended you'll be alright.

These phone cameras apparently being as good as high end cameras is really puzzling. I saw a shot of the s7 low light sample zoomed in, and.... ouch. They are good for what they are of course but as good as a really nice Lumix, Alpha, or DSLR.... LOL no.

No problem. Unless there are significant changes to iOS, my phone choice will always be Android. Primarily due to ability to customize the phone to my personal likes. I look at hardware, software, and design when choosing phones. Everyone's metal now so that's a wash. Water resistance and the return of SD cards plus the increased battery capacity tips the decision towards the S7 over other choices. When you add the capability of Samsung Pay (NFC + MST support) I tip further towards the S7. Then there's that screen. It's just day-um! None better imo. The VR applications don't hurt either.

People complain about the TouchWiz overlay, but honestly it's not a problem for me. For the most part, features you don't want can easily be turned off. The ones you like can be placed wherever you want them. There are a lot of cool features of TouchWiz I use often. Icons you don't want can be relegated to the app drawer never to be seen again. I favor the Apex Launcher which gives me a unique UX designed by me specifically for me. To me that's one of the biggest strengths of Android. Also the ability to choose default apps is primo. Most importantly, my info moves with me. Whether I am on my S5 (current), N7, iPad, MBA, PC's or laptops, my info is readily accessible.

The iPhone could get into my rotational choice with two changes. 1. Default app choice - this is the one thing I'll never compromise on. 2. An app drawer - I don't like look of a screen filled with rows of icons.
I have to say that Samsung actually stepped up in lot of ways and you have legit reasons as well.

Waterproofing, usage of micro sad cards, is really great. But it's one old hat. Sony has had it for years so I find it the reporting and the tripping over it by some of the self proclaimed 'tech agnostiats' here a bit bias.

It's Samsung (most of us would agree that they get heavily inspired by Apple, always good for clicks and heated discussion) so let's report it here.

Like many have reported before: LG should have been front news with its G5. Not a rehashed S5, souped up S6.

And yes, I went to the swimming pool (for more than 30 min) with my Xperia to take videos and pictures of my daughter learning to swim. Worked like a charm and a was great fun. I wish I could do that with my iP6s+ ;)

Don't get why people have to bash another product to make you feel great about your own. Nothing with praising a good product even if apple didn't make it.
Well some ppl here are bothered that Samsung is being talked about, it hurts them and I love it because its insignificant and they make it a big deal. I love it loolll

That's why I recall as well from the Xperia line. I think it was 2012. Shame they don't market that line properly, could be a decent seller and Sony does have quite the ecosystem as well. G5 is hardly being talked about over all from what I see around the net, which is disconcerting. I feel that the G5 is doing a fair amount more, but oh well.

I do miss 2000-2006 when no one even cared what phone a person had. To me smartphones have dumbed down more than smarten people. My perspective. We getting lazy son!

Wow looks awesome. Wireless charging, waterproof, OLED, expandability, start your copying machines Apple.

My toothbrush had wireless charging 10 years ago. Start your copiers, Samsung. I ****ing really hate comments like this. It's complete rubbish. Same with waterproofing and OLED and expandability... it's tech that's been around long before Samsung.

I think a lot of us would love to discuss about phones, technology, innovations in general. What I find disappointing that MR choses always Samsung for click baits, which brings out people like, well, people like you. Just like the Apple fanboys, equally annoying and on the other side of the spectrum.

Maybe MR will still run a thread about the really innovative phones which were presented in Barcelona.
