You guys? I'm just a visitor on this forum, just like you ^^ I don't mind if fans of Samsung devices visiting macrumors. Even fans of lizards or automobiles may enter any discussion for I care, as long it's on-topic and when it doesn't create a tribalism kind of discussion between fans of brand X versus brand Y.

It's simple... Many of us are enthusiasts of technology. Some use Apple only, others use both.

I use both although as a brand I prefer Apple and have used it's computers since 1991. Yet it's also true to say I've been using Windows concurrently. Working and living in a multi-platform environment is both enjoyable and highly educational. I like being current on mobile communications and computing.

It's a true reflection of the world, circa 2016.

edit: those vids on the previous page are impressive with the low light capabilities for a phone camera. Hopefully apple doesn't thin it out too much and adds that to the 7. Guessing they will. Good year for tech it seems.

Here's some things that may shock you. Some on this forum aren't tied to one ecosystem. Some on this forum like products from different companies. There are people who like Apple products but don't consider themselves "fans" of the company. That's not to say they dislike Apple; just that the idea of being a fan of a company isn't their thing. I like iPads, don't like iPhones. I like MBA form factor, but have no use for the iMac form factor.

There are also genuine fans of Apple who can comment on the company and their products without being binary. Not everything they do is good, neither is everything they do bad. Some people have opinions that are topical. It's not an all or nothing proposition. Speaking of topical. Why would you complain about someone's opinion regarding Samsung phones in a thread about Samsung phones? Doesn't make sense.

MR should have put the LG G5 on the front page. That's the phone that actually made innovative improvements over the current state of smartphones.

Samsung made minor physical improvements and their software will always be garbage.

Yeah that G5 looks pretty sweet. The thing I was most interested in was how they were able to anodize over the antenna lines. Apple definitely needs to use that.

Samsung has copied way, way more from Apple than Apple has from them. Granted, the most egregious incidents happened over five years ago, but you can't talk about Apple copying without mentioning Samsung's actions.

Now, if we're talking about iOS vs. Android, you could say a lot about what Apple "borrowed" from Google over the years.



Ah, gotcha. I just did some research on the Galaxy S5, and it seems like it handled submersions pretty well- and the water resistance rating for the S7 is even higher. Looks like you could take it for a swim, provided you don't need the touchscreen for anything.

No - it shouldn't matter. But it will always matter more here when someone copies Apple then the reverse. So go figure.

I addressed that in a later post I made, and I basically said just that. The copying that both companies have done as of late has been "concept borrowing" as opposed to blatant trade dress imitation. Concept borrowing is really a huge part of innovation- every idea starts from a path that someone else made.

Got lots of Apple products and have had Android and Apple phones. I go with what I think is the best phone. I sold my IPhone 6s Plus and will order a Galaxy S7 Edge. Big advantage Samsung now. If Apple pays attention and comes out with something better, I'll switch back.

But if I am not interested in an iPhone and think I have the best mobile, in this case a Samsung , I don' t feel the need to go into a deep discussion about it and tell everyone the iPhone sucks because I don' t like it.
I have a Samsung tv and I like it. But I don' t feel the need to go to a Samsung forum and rave about the iPhone being a better phone. I go to the forum to ask questions about the Sammy tv and ask questions about it. But I don' t go to the galaxy forum , simply because I am not interested in the galaxy..

Hmm let's see. The iphones #1 competitor. Seems worthy enough to me.
[doublepost=1456166084][/doublepost]The only things that made me go back to an iphone was because I only had 32gb on my Galaxy S6 and I like music and have a small data plan 1GB, but have a super cheap grandfathered corporate plan and don't want to change it. That and the hope that Apple music wasn't as bad as people made it out to be and it is the only service that has smartlist. Too bad the smart list don't sync very well and you can't create them on ios devices just itunes. I have a recently added playlist and when I add a new album from apple music it often never shows up in recently added and if it does it can be days later.

These sound like some good devices with some real useful features, better battery life, micro sd and water proof always awesome features. Pressure touch feels like a stupid feature that Samsung would have come out with that iphone users would have made fun of. Times they are a changing.

Get it together Apple!

Sounds as if you're waxing philosophical about a mythical internet that doesn't exist. We are not unique at MR. There isn't a forum in existence (hyperbole, I know) where you find a unified belief one way or another. Healthy debate is a cornerstone of internet forums. Well, not appleinsider. That is a sycophantic wasteland of prostration to all things Apple. Imo of course. If MR became an echo chamber of "all praises be to the glory of..." I'd never come back.

The best thing is, if you have an affinity for Apple, there are tons of sites to cater to you. Even on MR there are plenty of articles where a preponderance of love for Apple will be in the comments. It's sort of perplexing to think an article about the S7 isn't going to have a mixture of criticism about the phone and how it compares to the iPhone.

Bolded: You're going to be disappointed. A lot of members on this site don't use iPhones. It's not a requirement for membership. I don't have one. Probably won't have one until default app choice is an option.

Otherwise it is a waste of time.

The internet - often - is a colossal waste of time. It can be productive too. But I digress. I'm not in the "camp" you are referring to. Everyone has their own use case and a choice of which device will best serve their needs. No device is perfect and will likely fulfill everything someone is looking for - so one makes concessions. I don't condemn or judge others based on devices and I admit one of my flaws is that I sort of expect others to treat me the same way. However, this is the internet...

Ha. I thought it was amazing at first to peek at videos and emails without opening them, but when I went back to my 6 plus, I didn't miss that feature at all. If Apple expands its usage to more apps and more features, I can see 3D touch being a thing for sure. But right now? Pathetic.

Because it works on existing magnetic stripe terminals, which is everywhere you swipe your card today. The merchants don't have to do anything to prepare for Samsung Pay.

The only problem with Samsung Pay is lack of bank support... But if you have Citi, Bank of America, U.S Bank, Key, Chase, American Express, and some others, you should be all set. I know Discover and Wells Fargo are planning on supporting it soon, but I'm sure it's not as simple as just flipping a switch.

Hopefully when Discover begins to support it, they'll have a similar promotion like they did with Apple Pay, the additional 10% back, plus your normal percentage back of what you get, and then doubling it after your first year.

That is the reason why I'm not able to use Samsung/Google Pay since my bank still does not support it. They say they will soon.

Why can't I look at an apple forum? Could you point out to me where it says iPhone users only?

That is the reason why I'm not able to use Samsung/Google Pay since my bank still does not support it. They say they will soon.

So get a credit card through a big bank. The rewards are good, and pay the balance off in full every month so you can use Samsung Pay. Get an American Express card.
