so now apple come out with their own for the iPhone 7 series.....

how the tables have turned on innovation, apple is the one playing catch up now.

Apple has NEVER released the first product in a market segment in their entire history. There were phones before the iPhone, tablets before the iPad, music players before the iPod, computers before the Apple II and Mac, etc. Apple simply puts a new take on something to make it easier or better to use.

So I have no clue what you're saying.

The tables are exactly where they've been for 10 years now. An Apple rumor flies. Samsung catches wind of it and releases a buggy, power hog of an unfinished product before Apple. Meanwhile Apple sits back and watches the market react so they can fix all the problems that Samsung and others introduced into the product. Apple enters the market toward the end of the growth cycle and cleans house. You may think that this isn't innovation but I don't care what it's called. I just want wireless earbuds that don't suck and we all know that these suck and that Apple's won't suck and maybe even be great. If you really care who gets to market first, there's a Wiki page for that.
I love posts like this, you talk about buggy, power hungry, let's compare battery life with both smartwatches released last yr. The AW versus the gear 2, one has immense battery life, stylish, best UI on the market by far which every single Web reviewer agrees with, and the other ok ne which won't last a day is the Apple Watch. A power hungry mess!

The concept is there, but practicality isn't. Having all those features built into the earphones is innovation in my opinion, but the abysmal battery life + size is what's holding the product back. Heck, batteries in general hold tech back. That's where true innovation needs to start happening *hint* *hint * Apple *hint * *hint*.. Lmao who am I kidding, if they could, Apple would sell you single use iPhone batteries, only $49.99 each and only last 5 hours at most before needing a replacement pmsl.

Lost my wireless earbuds after a week. Going to buy a new pair of Earins.

I can never go back to cables.

I don't like Samsung as a company, and their earbuds looks very large.

I picked up a pair of these for cheap to use with my Apple Watch in the gym. Sure, they have a cable between the earbuds, but they work great. 8 hour battery life, decent sound, reliable.

These try to do too much and have a very specific niche use. Not something your average consumer is going to buy.
There are a number of decent (I use that word sparingly) BT headphones out there for under $100. There is basically nada for great sounding BT headphones until you get into the $400 range.

It's like the Japanese when it comes to electronics , they don't invent it, they build a better version of it.

Many people looked at how Samsung copied apple and have not done their research how apple has borrowed ideas from other products. Like you said, take the iPod, it was a better implementation of existing products on the markert, they did not invent anything, they used components available at the time to build a better refined player.

Apple did an excellent job of giving the user a great experience through the harmony of hardware and software, with a focus and vision. These days they are stuffing it up by having annual OS releases and constant bug fixes.

My 2012 rMBP was rock solid in 2012, 2016 I keep getting constant crashes, and pops up in the morning that here was an unexpected restart over night, machine has been checked at apple and hardware is 100%. If I install Windows on it, it will be stable......guttering.

Ain't going to happen in a hurry , all manafactures want you to upgrade, so current battery tech that degrades is perfect, after 12 months you feel like you need to upgrade cause your battery life is so poor, and you remembered how awesome it was when you first bought it.

I'd argue there is no great sounding BT headphones. I have $400 + BT and wireless v wired there is a large difference, current BT does not have the bandwidth to support quality audio for high end headphones.

The thing about Kanoa is they are a shady company. I preordered mine for $139 back in January. It was a tough decision on to keep my full price bragi preorder or buy the Kanoa from a company that frequently appears on scam alert websites and deletes the "bad" Facebook comments.

From the little information they HAVE shared with us, they are still pretty far out from mass production. It seems like just last week they found a factory to build the earbuds and revised their final design.

Bottom line, I bought the Kanoa for the price. I'm crossing my fingers they are half the quality they say.

In the same boat, feature wise they seem like the best, if they really ship this month.

So if you put your own music on the 4GB storage you have 03:30 hrs. of playing time - which is plenty.
That's a good point, but most people would more naturally use Spotify, YouTube Red, or Google Music I think. It's just more trouble to load your music in. Although 4GB can store around 30 hours of 320kbps 3 minute 30 second MP3s, and that may seem like a lot, people like variety and so they won't listen to all 30 hours. That means they'll have to change out music frequently. I remember doing this with my old iPods, it was a pain in the butt.

Drag and drop, u can get music on in about 30 seconds... dont confuse the pain of itunes as to how the rest of society handle their music.

It's still a pain in the butt. I don't care how little time it takes to drag the music over - it's another step that you have to keep doing. I remember doing that on my music device 10 years ago. Before going out, you would have to take the extra step to 'remember' to put new music on your device. You need to run over to the computer, find the files, drag and drop them to the device. Wasn't as nice as stuff just being there in the cloud.

iTunes is the same thing as dragging and dropping to a device. Simply Drag and drop music into iTunes then click 'Sync'. The additional step of clicking the 'Sync' button - oh, the horrors. I don't know what 'pain' you are referring to.

I suppose if you only workout for an hour and 30 minutes for each session then these are fine. Seems like a fairly easy way to lose $200 though. Anyway to track these buds? Maybe they should put an NFC tag in them that beeps on an app when its within range (NFC range is less than 8 inches / 20 cm).

My average gym session is about 1.5hrs. These earbuds would barely make the cut.

The rechargeable case is a big plus, but my Powerbeats 2 are certainly more practical and only need to be charged a couple of times a week.

Too much effort. My Google Play Music account is vastly easier to manage and is cloud based.

Everybody seems focused on the headphones but no thought on gear fit 2? 3 to 4 days battery life and built in gps

I had a Gear Fit 1 with my S6 before returning to Apple. It was a great little tracker. Excellent battery life, curved amoled display, rock solid S-Health tracking and integration.

If I still had a Samsung I'd be all over it. The battery life makes it a big winner in my book.

Seems it got more people unnecessarily on the defensive. It's an Apple site, it's relevant. If people get hacky with the copycat stuff it shouldn't compel you to argue with them. It's like convincing a Trump supporter to vote Bernie.

What are you? The argument Police? I mean we have the grammar Police already, you must be a new department from their desperate precent?
It also did nothing of the sort of people going on the 'defensive' as I think 3 people quoted my post, plus the claims of Samsung copying a potential future nobody actually knows Apple product are rife on this site and it's rather sad, and it is NOT relevant.

Well........... the first iPhone was THE FIRST mobile phone with a capacitive glass front screen. If that counts?

I'd agree. Great is a relative term. I owned a pair of B&O and tried a pair of M&D. They were very good but did not have the same theatre of sound as my wired. Still, that is a range I don't think many would use with a smartphone. ;)

SkullCandy/Sony/JVC earbuds with unlimited "battery life": $10

I will never buy expensive headphones. EVER.

Unless I'm doing pro music production.

And even then, a decent set of AKG wired reference phones will sound way better, and cost a lot less than this.

Bluetooth sucks for audio. A single audio cutout/interruption and I'm PISSED.

This is ridiculous Samsung really studies Apple patents and then ripping off their ideas based on pure rumors or what? Next to follow, no headphone jack and a virtual home button.

Well...just that Samsung's ear pods look almost identical to the Bragi Dash while offering the exact same functions, including even the charging case ...and Bragi came out with their ideas 2 something years ago.

It's an open secret that in the tech industry companies copy from one another and that Samsung is the ruling king by far, but people need to get over themselves assuming it's always Apple the others are copying...

Why in the world would I pay $200.00 for ear buds? I would be better off putting that $200.00 towards a high end pair of speakers for home audio and grabbing a piece of junk $10.00 option at Walmart since... you know... the sonic quality mostly sucks on mobile anyway.

To each their own, no? Why in the world would you spend thousands on a Mac, hundreds on an iPhone/iPad?

If I buy those kind of ear buds, I buy them for their functionality, not their sound quality. And it's up to everyone individually how much they're willing to pay for certain functions/design/... . Some don't want to pay that much, which is totally fine, others do, while they wouldn't pay a high price for other things person one is willing to spent more on.

Yeah but wired sorta sucks for the athletic types. No one typically considers a product of this type to sit around the house.

After I got my wireless Powerbeats, I could never go back to wired for the gym, running and biking.

Somehow I'm not conviced, yet, that Apple will bring something similar. Especially all the fitness tracking clearly cannibalizes the Apple Watch ...

So, now these buds send signals through your head....nothing like a continuous zap of EM energy into your brain....willingly!

Just like millions of hearing aids have been doing for decades... Not completely sure about the mechanisms for the Samsung buds, but that's what similar buds from other companies are using.

I have the gear s2 and got 2 days easily
Oh mate, you are simply wrong, so am I as well. I've just read that a professional reviewer posing as a MR know it all says we will be lucky to get 4 to 6 hrs when they advertise 24 hrs. But here's the thing, they are bragging that the AW gets the 18 hrs they advertise, as somehow they are happy to get less than a full day out of a wearable.

I did a small test last nite, my battery was on 18% when I went to bed at 11pm, and at 8 this morn, was down to 9%, so basically a percent an hour with screen turned off. I think I can live with that.
