Wow I rather stay with my iPhone 4, I seen so much broken Android phones with cracked screens and cases and rather odd issues with Android it self. Why would I want to have a tablet inside my pocket? The iPhone is still great no matter what the nay says say.

As long as Android devices keep telling me how much better they are than iPhones, I'll stick with iPhones.

Once Android (or whoever for that matter) start saying how much DIFFERENT they are than an iPhone, I might get more interested.

That pretty much sums it up for me too though I don't own any smart phone at all. The rest of your post was spot on but the beginning was a great summary.

Apple's entire philosophy has always been to focus on the broader experience and not the detailed specs
What "experience"?

No copy/paste, no multitasking, non-working antennas, tiny screens, no plugins allowed in browsers, no wireless updates, no custom soft keyboards?

I was just thinking - Apple might name their Mac OS after animals but what is it with these dumb names for Droid OS - "Jelly Bean"?

Why is it that some tech companies come up with awful cutesy names for very technologically advanced products.
Wizard this, wiz that - sounds like Marvin the Android taking a toilet break.

Numbers sound better lol

Do you guys know what is so funny about all of this iPhone vs Samsung war?

Let me break it down for you:

The reason why there is so much bickering from the android side is because the S4 is really not much different than the S3. Sure, it's just logical bump in hardware specs. Yes, they have added a ton of software improvements and thrown in a bunch of gimmicky features. There seems to be lack of innovation claims from the nerd herd side of the green trash can.

Apple has gone stale with iOS 6.0 They have not done much to innovate either. The iphone is 4" and yet it's so tiny, I hardly use it to web surf, do any real multimedia and even gaming on it is really pathetic compared to an ipad mini/ipad 4.

The real reason why you see an S4 the way it is now before your eyes is because samsung could not copy apple any further. Unless apple is planning on a huge redesign on their next gen iPhone (6), it seems samsung has copied all it can copy up until iphone 4(s)/5 models. They have utterly finished photocopying and analyzing apple's designs, it's dried up all of their "innovations".

So you see, when the real next generation iphone arrives, you will see samsung will have to release a new device and then the nerd herd will oooh and awe over how great the device is. At it's current form, (the S4) is really just a rehash of the same old same old.

Argue all you want about how samsung doesn't copy; the reality is their copy machines are just stuck in standby mode at the moment. It won't start up again until apple makes a good move on their next gen hardware AND software.

I'm willing to bet the iPhone 5s comes out hardly beating the S3. The best thing apple has going with Samsung is litigation. Innovation winner is now Samsung. Only thing apple held over android was FaceTime. Samsung just surpassed that in a major way. Oh, well apple had battery life, but the s3 matched that. The s4 is a huge FU to apple.

Quick question for the group. Those pictures with audio and the pictures you can flip to see the person taking the photo. Are these only viewable on another GS4? I'm betting it is some exclusive file format that is useless in everything else.

He was mudslinging and got caught. The Nexus will get K first, but the Nexus will not get Touchwiz or any of those updates. I wish I knew it was getting those sweet camera capabilities, for example, but it might not. They are different beasts.
Its still a year old. Jelly bean is incremental not a full update like 2.2 to 4.0. He is right.

Because I find wifi a more efficient means of transferring files & data.

Stop trying to defend Apple's refusing to include basic capabilities. Transferring files over Wifi is fine, but why shouldn't you be able to send a file to someone you just bumped into?

Even if it's not used very often, why should that option not just be there?

You say that it's not needed now, but if Apple introduces it in iOS7, you'll be on the front lines cheering about how fantastic of a capability it is.

Amen. Could we have at least a moderate refresh of iOS too? I don't quite need Windows Phone's tiles, but I really don't need to launch the weather app to know what the temp is outside. Something more than static icons with annoying red notification circles would make me very happy. :)

I forgot to add

Maps needs offline maps
Photo Stream with video too
Contacts should be redesigned
Notes for iOS doesn't have photos, attachments, rich text
Settings is a complete mess
Do Not Disturb should be expanded
Email cant mark messages in different color
Apps should automatically update
No way to block numbers
No way to save/share files like AirDrop
No way to set default apps
iPad features taken from OS X (Back to the iPad)

You seem so obsessed with Samsung vs. iPhone specs in your previous post, yet this response makes it seem like you've never picked up an iPhone (or haven't since 2009 or 2010 if you aren't aware of these features)...

Long time apple loyalist

I'm embarrassed by my fellow apple fanboys

Mods please start banning the apple fanboys who are making insults

Let's look at your posts today:

This is pretty simple for anyone to get..

If this were about palm or windows phone Phil - this pompous person - would not even lift a finger to respond.

He's worried.

Apple loyalist or Samsung android? Seems you have no life other than to post as a Samsung fandroid in Apple fanboy clothing. You are not fooling anyone.

Stop trying to defend Apple's refusing to include basic capabilities. Transferring files over Wifi is fine, but why shouldn't you be able to send a file to someone you just bumped into?

You say that it's not needed now, but if Apple introduces it in iOS7, you'll be on the front lines cheering about how fantastic of a capability it is.

You are correct - the most useful features for many would be a way to transfer images and or videos to other users. But isn't there iMessage? It can do videos up to 100MB. It can send loads of images. You can even share them and have them pushed automatically to any device and also have a public website enabled features for non-iphone users.

My major gripe with apple is the fact they tend to really hold back on very trivial features. For example, in the mail app, you can't change fonts, you can't change color of fonts, you can't attach images easily, you can't even organize your mail content efficiently - sure you can move stuff to a folder, but the way it's done up thru ios 6 is so 2007, it's really pathetic.

You can't even get another mail app option installed so new mails can be pushed automatically. Let's talk about how pathetic safari browser is. No tabbed browsing (on iPhone), no text overflow formatting, it's basically a crippled desktop safari.

I don't need a file system, I don't need a usb port, nor do I need removable battery or wireless charging. I just wish apple would listen to their customer's needs because the market for smartphones is not the same as 2007. I dont' care for samsung gimmicky features but at least provide more trivial features instead of completely crippling the most used features in the most used app such as mail.

Another thing regarding transferring data to another device: Unless you know that person, why would you bother sending them stuff anyway? I don't just randomly send people I am not close with information; any information. If they are close enough for you to send data, I'd just iMessage them. Oh wait, they have no iPhone. But then again, the samsung feature to send stuff only works with other s3 devices anyway.

Galaxy S3 was nothing like the iPhone 4/4S...so...

Build quality wise, it's pathetic. Software wise, it's still not up to par. Features, yes, it's night and day.

"Nerd herd" - Haha! :D I like that funny phrase :D

Let's all buy one of these, then collaborate to write OUR OWN OS, shall we? Forget Android, as great as it is, let's try something new (not TOO radical).

Anyone up for this? :) Hope it is BSD based too - fancy a new challenge, Linux based is boring.

As far as the 'too small screen" debate goes, Apple have proven with the iPad Mini that people actually prefer smaller....
Retina iPad Mini (with 128GB option) would be the real sweet spot in tablet devices.

Anyone who works in the creative industries will know of the "make the logo bigger" adage.
"Bigger is better" Big Macs, big trucks, big sodas, big TVs, big egos, big b00bs.

Not always the case - I wouldn't want a much bigger phone - I have a 4S and I find the 5 actually quite OTT sometimes although not as much as the boat oar Galaxys that people wave about.

Original iPhone/iPhone 3 is still a VERY nice design. It's the standard and will be remembered more than the 4, 5 or any other smart phone.
I was amused to see this picture at the Galaxy 4 launch just posted:

Basic capabilities that a very small percentage may use. Bluetooth, fine for accessories, not so great for large file transfers over long distance or the internet.

I don't know why the dessert theme, but all the versions have been alphabetical:

- The first 2 versions were Android 1.0 and Android 1.1
- Cupcake (1.5)
- Donut (1.6)
- Eclair (2.0)
- Froyo (2.2)
- Gingerbread (2.3)
- Honeycomb (3 - Exclusively for tablets)
- Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0)
- Jelly Bean (4.1)
- Key Lime Pie (5.0)

Now waiting for the incremental iPhone 5S in 6 months, still featuring a dual core CPU when the rest of the world has movied on to quad core.
Do you want just perfectly smooth running apps, or perfectly smooth running apps AND low battey life?

And SGS4 will best iPhone in that too with its Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot.

Again, just because you "can" add those features in, doesn't mean it makes sense to. Just ask yourself, when are you ever going to use 802.11b? Even g is going away in way of 802.11n access. That's the problem with these devices - they throw all the moot features and hardware specs in just to show they are capable devices.

What are you going to use wireless ac for when the population having access to that is less than 0.5%?
