Nice, but not for me

Looks like nice tech. Too big for my taste, but I'm sure a lot of people will love it.

One thing Samsung is doing a great job. Pretty sad how slow Apple updates features for the camera. At this rate its going to look something like this.

iPhone 5 - panorama mode
iPhone 5S - burst mode
iPhone 6 - timer mode
iPhone 7 - filters
iPhone 7S - dual camera
iPhone 8 - 360 panorama

lol

To be fair, it is Nokia who has long been at the forefront of cameraphones. They actually had the first cameraphone, and were for many years the largest seller of cameras by virtue of including one in virtually every phone they sold. They have a 41MP phone out right now.

u mean to say that the same lame user experience on iOS since 2007 is great?

Not so sure you understand Apple's focus audience. It's not geeks and tech freaks that like to tweak etc"

Is your parents and grandparents who are more likely to be scared of a system that makes them relearn every few months how to do everything. For them, the same is good. In fact it can be THE selling point

Aside from the dual camera (which is pretty useless IMHO) the rest can be done via one of the many high quality photo apps on iOS.

You think it would be a good thing for consumers if Apple built the most full-featured camera app into iOS, killing the third-party camera app market? This would result in less consumer choice, not more.

Apple fans in general tend to call all features missing in Apple products "useless". Be it RGB LED indicator, NFC, wireless charging, Full HD screen resolution, WiFi direct or anything else. They "discover" these features only when Apple adds them to their devices (remember useless panorama shots?)

Why would anyone want to use 5 photo apps just for all the feature they need.

Plus timer/burst isn't even "special".

Pretty sad Apple doesn't even have it.

And even if Apple did add these features, its not like the app market will die.

Apple added Reminders...there's Clear, Any.do, Things, etc. Its thriving.

Same with mail....Gmail, Mailbox, Sparrow, etc.

Your excuse for Apple not adding new features is just ridiculous.

Yep, no idea at all. They came out of nowhere to become the number one smartphone manufacturer.

That said, they still have half the profit margins of Apple.

Samsung's rise was somewhat fortuitous, in that it coincided with Stephen Elop's decision to have Nokia abandon Symbian in favor of Windows Phone back in early 2011 (months before any Nokia Windows Phone was actually ready). Had they switched to Android, things might have been drastically different.

Oddly enough, at the time of Elop's "burning platform" memo, Nokia still had the largest market share of smartphones (larger than Apple and Samsung combined). They decided to "Osborne" their lineup, and because Apple doesn't compete for the bottom of the barrel, Samsung wound up winning most of that by default.

Uh, well. Any ppi bigger than what the eye can resolve is only a spec sheet item, there is no benefit. Especially not since it is still a PenTile AMOLED display with a fake pixel count, slightly impacted font smoothing capabilities and fake colors... It is big, yeah. But that's about it.

I hope that Apple, IF they should offer a bigger phone at some point, will do it properly (IPS or IGZO, no PenTile fraud, powerful and even backlight). Otherwise I prefer smaller.

they've got a long way to go before maxing out what the eye can see, apple retina at about 60 ppd (pixel per degree) isn't even close. noticible gains up to over 100 ppd, which would be 500 or so ppi, with small gains after that up to 500 ppd, or over 2000 ppi. You shouldn't have to use anti-aliasing to make a screen look good, which all phones do for now.

NHK true retina tests chart

the phone looks like a female towel like the previous model, the feel of the phone makes it worse, still plastic crap

all the gimmick they showed its just not my cup of tea

You talking about Foxconn? :)

Also the GS4 is a beast of a phone, but after all the phones hit 720p, 8 Megapixels, the game is over in the consumer space.

I think the phone looks ok but the FEATURES are AMAZING!!! Its sad to say but if iPhone had all these features I think more people would buy iPhones. i agree with a lot of people saying IOS is becoming boring especially without a jailbreak! Hope iOS7 steps it up!

To be fair, I Haven't had even one situation where I was like damn, could have used NFC for that. panorama shots were always available on iphone with apps. Hover finger or eye pause? my guess is pretty much useless, and I'm sure you could do eye pause on iphone with an app easily. Others needs may differ obviously, especially those of android geeks who like to tinker and have their phone be more of a computer than an appliance, but I can pretty much guarantee that the majority of iphone users wouldn't use NFC even if it was in their phone, unless apple flexed their muscle to actually have it available in the real world to do useful things for normal people. I'm talking every checkout having "swipe phone here to pay" etc.

And I as a non stock holding consumer care about which company makes the most profit because............?

Just one example. There are many web sites where hover finger will help you. All those drop down menus - you can't use them on iPhone.

And too small for me. See, people have different personal preferences.

Which is why I think they should come out with a 5" iphone plus, add the phone parts to the ipad mini, AND keep the current size. I like the current size/ipad mini combo personally. I would rather have a smaller lighter device with me all the time, I don't do that much with it anyway. I take the ipad mini anytime I'm going to be browsing much or watching videos.

If apple comes out with a 5" phone and no 4" phone next time around, I will be pissed. I'm actually hoping for an iphone mini, similar in size to the ipad nano.

Not sure about "flagship", looks more like a raft, and they take a lot of paddling to get to the same place as a "flagship".

any business or website designer with half a brain makes sure their stuff works with iphones/ipads, so I could see it being useful browsing desktop versions of sites on a full size ipad, but not my 4" phone. I don't want to have to hover my finger to get mouse functionality, but I see your point. we'll see if the masses like it or deem it pointless over time.

looks like i'm going to upgrade my 4s to s4, I like the ios much but I really need a bigger screen, the android lag is not an issue with me.
