Im not exactly sure what Samsung was going for with the release of the S4 but it looks exactly the same to me. As for the HTC One, its the first phone in 6 years that Ive found more appealing then any of my iPhones. Im a very good customer of Apples, when I say very good I own over 50 iPhones and probably spent over a hundred grand with Apple last year alone but if they don't change up their phone design soon im jumping ship...Right about now that HTC One looks so unbelievably good. Its probably the sexiest smart phone I have ever seen.

When Apple releases a phone that looks mostly the same (iPhone 4S): Meh! Apple is doomed!

When Samsung releases a phone that looks mostly the same (Galaxy S4): Wow! THAT'S innovation! Apple seriously needs to innovate!

Actually the s4 doesn't look like the s3. If any thing it looks like a note 2.

And the g4 is bigger than the s3.

one day you will not be able to google a dessert without going through multiple pages of android results first. Just like Apple did to the fruit.

and cat names. I do find it amusing how apple did their cat names for operating systems, then google tries something similar but different with their alphabetical desert names, then apple goes back to numbers for iOS.

I find iOS 5 vs 6 much cleaner and elegant sounding than jelly bean vs ice cream sandwich, especially with such fragmentation and how every android user can't just click update on their phone the day google releases the next version.

"woah what's with the Marcel Marceau hand jiving?"

"Oh I'm just answering a call on my S4"

All the isheep are jelly on this thread.

All kidding aside. Apple needs to step it up. In terms of software and size. I would buy a 5 inch iphone is a heart.

Also they need to get back to innovating like they did with the first iphone.

You seem so obsessed with Samsung vs. iPhone specs in your previous post, yet this response makes it seem like you've never picked up an iPhone (or haven't since 2009 or 2010 if you aren't aware of these features)...
Of course am aware that finally iPhone has some these features. Finally. But don't you think it's odd that Apple "seem so obsessed" with that "user experience", yet they release a half-backed iphone with no copy/paste, no copy/paste, no multi-tasking, no folders, no basic voice control, no MMS? Android had all these basics since 1.0 even since Beta. The last thing Apple worries is "user experience". The first thing: low cost of manufacturing=high profit margins, shiny styling, marketing hype.

It's useless extra resolution. I can't imagine that you can see the difference side by side at a regular viewing distance. But what you will get is bigger files to take up more memory, but I guess that's where the microSD might come in handy...

This made me chuckle. Useless resolution? But when apple touts their resolution it is great right? But with Samsung it is useless?

Thanks for the laugh.

WOW, I have officially gone to Samsung. I'm selling my iPhone 5 64 GB on ebay tomorrow for $200.00. I don't need a phone from a company that releases everything on their product a year after everyone else does & claims it works better. Bitch, theirs works just as good. Apple has fallen. They give us a watch? Who wears a watch when you have a phone that displkays the time lol.

Confused as to where this is on apple.com? glad you believe rumors and compare a watch to a phone.

I hope they trounce upon apple so apple get scared and make something decent instead of a semi upgrade and call it iPhone 5S. We're sick of them slowly draining cash from us with poxy upgrades. We don't want no iPhone 5s, we want a revolutionary iPhone 6 that will teach the South Koreans a lesson!

I found the upgrade from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 to be excellent.

The phone itself was a good improvement. I like the screen on the 5 much better than the 4. The problem is, aside from Passbook, there wasn't anything really exciting about iOS 5.3- er, uh, I mean 6... :p

"...But Facebook integration isn't all we've added. Siri has been studying, and now she knows all about sports."

*crickets*

A couple of comments:

1. Samsung wisely chose NOT to drastically overhaul the user experience with the Galaxy S 4 like what HTC did with the HTC One model. This is actually a good thing, because if you're used to the Galaxy S II or S III, it's very easy to master the Galaxy S 4.

2. The phone's physical size is actually pretty impressive, considering it's now using a true 5 inch (125 mm) screen. Indeed, the phone is thinner than the S III!

3. For the US market, the likely system-on-a-chip (SoC) will the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, which uses four CPU cores running at 1.9 GHz on the Galaxy S 4 and has full 3GPP LTE radio system support. Galaxy S 4's sold in markets where LTE is not common will use Samsung's own Exynos 5 SoC, which has four larger CPU cores and four smaller CPU cores but will only support 3G GSM (HSDPA+).

I might agree with them if they said "i've got 8k on my phone, jumping up to 16K is useless" but we are so far from that it's not even funny. Testing shows even the jump from 4k to 8k is detectable for a screen that size at that distance, and the s4 is basically just a 2k screen.

replace Samsung with Apple:

Apple should try to exit the smart phone business and save some face while they still have some pride.

No way can they withstand the assault that Samsung is going to provide with their ever more impressive innovations.

The iPhone survived so long thanks to gimmicks, but its not getting it done anymore. Apple will be smart to enter some other market segment like smart watches.

I have laughed so loud at this comment, thanks for making my day! I don't care if you were being sarcastic or naive, still very entertaining :D

Specially the bold part of it.

Confused as to where this is on apple.com? glad you believe rumors and compare a watch to a phone.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured they were being sarcastic, realizing how the wrist watch killed the pocket watch, and the current phones are the pocket watches. I bet the watch phone or google glass type device (maybe not till contacts) will kill the phone as we know it eventually.

Welcome to the plastic world. Samsung greets you with open arms. For the very same price as Apple.

translation: samsung are afraid to make a move too. This phone is just a spec bump, riding the wave of success as many accuse apple of doing, but apple did it first and does it better.

I do think the galaxy is the only other sexy phone on the market. If the iPhone or galaxy didn't exist, I might as well just use a 90s Nokia.

I think Blackberry have produced the best looking phone recently - it actually looks desirable IMHO.

The Samsung stuff (physically) still looks cheap and Droid OS still looks like Win95 to me - clunky-ass icons and Weather Channel graphics.
Its obnoxious and crass.
You know some people like hookers with big jugs that look like Steve Tyler and they can have their Galaxy phones too - that's fine.

When you start comparing how big your todger is instead of how you use it... essentially that's what's going on here.

Good that Samsung never used "Droid os" :) regarding looks cheap well the last time i saw and hold a iphone 5.... Same comment.

I believe Apple is already scared. I think Phil speaking out against Android is proof.

Sorry, didn't read the whole 21 pages in this thread but don't understand....

Why does anyone need full HD or 400+ dpi on a 5" phone?

Why not watch video on a 8.9-11" 1080p tablet?

Do I need to waste bandwidth/data plan to watch 1080p video outside of my office or home? When I'm waiting in line at the DMV?

If I'm at the office or home, I have HDTVs, tablets, or computers that offer a much better viewing experience than 1080p on a 5" screen.

This spec race and checklist remind me of when I was young 20 years ago, and everyone thought 40 MHZ CPUs would change the world.

Back then some PCs even had a "Turbo" button. Token Ring networking or whatever it was called seem awesome at the time.

Reality called.....

It's a Samsung Galaxy 3S appearance-wise.

Air gestures seem interesting, if not gimmicky...

Rocking an Galaxy S2 right now - old, by technological standards, but by no means slow. I'll be using this phone for a while yet.

Text looks better at higher resolutions, and all phones these days cheat with anti-aliasing, or putting grey pixels at the curves so you don't notice they don't have enough resolution.

Look into laser printers, 1200 dpi is considered STANDARD. 4800 even 9600 dpi is available. phones should go by those same standards. You'd be laughed out of a job if you handed in your resume with the <500 dpi that today's phones are.
