200MP? I hope it comes with 512Gb base or that space is going to fill up fast!

Every samsung Android phone I've used ends up getting laggy and slow after 5 months. Why is that?

They're more interested in selling you a new device every 9-10 months than actually comitting to supporting ones they already sold. Also, android is a one-size-fits all generic OS that's shoehorned into hundreds of different OEM devices so it's rarely optmized- overtime it's just going to slow things down. And then, of course, because Google, after 18ish months you stop getting software updates altogether

android is just an ewaste generator

You couldn't be any more wrong, but go on.

It's like you are stuck in 2012.

My S22 Ultra takes better photos than my 14PM. But with Video it’s the other way around. I’m holding out for the next Fold or Flip.

The Flip I have zero interest in. But the Fold 5 (allegedly little or no crease) is intriguing. I had a Fold 4 for a while, and I loved it. Working with remote desktop on the go was awesome. But I missed the Apple ecosystem.

200 Mega Pixels Camera? Holy smokes!!! Not going to lie that is insane and impressive. Competition is a good thing!

Update: Not going to lie the colors look amazing. I hope Apple comes up with these type of stunning colors for the Pro Line up.

Megapixel count means nothing, especially on a small sensor.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Samsung’s phones and currently own an S21 along my iPhone, but megapixel number is the last thing I’d check

Do they still not have proper secure Face ID? What are we approaching, 6 years now since the iPhone X?!
Real life cases have shown that faceId is LESS reliable than TouchId. (Siblings unlocking parents devices, for example, which just does not happen with TouchId).
Also finger reader works faster, from grater distance and AVOIDS the HUGE floating notch (compared to Samsung or Huawei phones).
So, I would say: 6 years and Apple still does not have a proper finger print reader under the display and can’t provide both?.
FaceId is super nice marketing.

Let's face it, phones have become boring appliances that people need to upgrade from time to time. The industry is trying to boost sales by adding new gimmicks every time like Samsung with the folding phone or the 200 megapixel. It's not going to be enough for most people to continue to spend over 1k every two years when they still have a perfectly good phone. I'm still on the iPhone 12 Pro and from what I can tell there is no significant difference between my phone and the latest model 14 Pro.

Pixel trickery. There's no way there's a physical 200 megapixel sensor in that. It's getting ridiculous with the spec massaging on these cameras. Why not just adjust the software and call it 500 megapixel?

Even though Samsung Galaxy is considered premium alternative to iPhone, it still feels like a mass produced brand with its ultimate goal of how many can we spit out. Apple is the same, but I feel like I get more value for money in the long run. Well integrated ecosystem, guaranteed software updates, healthier, vibrant app ecosystem, it just works and hardware just last darn long.
But it just doesn't more and more. The integration becomes a huge and very noticeable negative when they keep breaking things.

Remember you all. Competition is good.

As I like to say, there’s “competition”, and there’s meaningful competition. If you want to go up against Apple, it’s no longer enough to simply beat any one Apple product in one spec or another area. You have to match the entire ecosystem, and that’s a tall order for pretty much every other company out there.

That's the good take, even if you are not into Android/Samsung phones competition is good for everyone and forces the companies to improve and innovate. But sadly most of the comments here are just childish mocking and cheap jokes that bring nothing to the discussion

I am interested in the competition, but "200 MP!!!" is marketing fluff. What will be interesting about these phones to me personally is the image processing and direct comparisons of photo quality between the phones. I find that my 13 Pro camera overprocesses to the point that photos sometimes look inferior to the photos I took with my 11 Pro Max or 8 Plus. So that is what I want to see when comparing with iPhone. I'm also interested in how good the battery life is and how well auto-brightness of the display works. I don't care about 200 megapixels.

I have a Galaxy S10 and it's not slow in any way. I think Android is finally matured. I like it but I am addicted to my AW so I am stuck with an iPhone. lol

Not really. It is marketing BS. Apple's iPhone cameras are BS too. All tiny sensored cameras are total BS. The laws of physics prevent them from being worth even a pile of poop. It is all just marketing BS!

Yes and no.
Yes, the size of the sensor limits how much light you can capture at once.

But Apple and other companies have been circumventing this using multiple lenses, taking several photos at once and combining them, and using AI to reduce noise and reconstruct things you can't quite photograph.

This is called "computational photography". The better AI you have, the more noise you can reduce and the more you can reconstruct ("super resolution"). THAT'S how cellphone cameras have been able to compete with DSRLs. Of course, they can look overprocessed at times, but the better AIs get, the more you can get rid of even those limitations.

But it just doesn't more and more. The integration becomes a huge and very noticeable negative when they keep breaking things.
Well, I have an iPhone X, iPad Pro 12.9 (2017), MacBook Pro 2015, 2020 M1, Apple Watch Series 3 and they all work just fine. Until I experience what you are experiencing, I will give Apple the benefit of the doubt.

I just switched to an S22 Ultra (got it on a good deal) from my iPhone and I have to say, Android has come a long way since I had such a phone which was 7 years ago). iOS and Android are so close to each other in a lot of ways switching isn't as hard as you may think. Most of the apps are available on both. Samsungs implementation is way better than it used to be and had a lot of really cool features. But it's the visual spit and polish off the apps that set iOS apart. Developers on iOS really care about UI and it shows.

Well it "looks good" on paper, at least.
Right. But this is the same as the numbers wars we used to have over CPU speed. Most people don't want to be educated on the complexities of a phone camera. They just want a number they can compare.
