No pricing or availability yet. In other words, it's not a real product. And if/when it is (in any volume), the happy owner can look forward to paying for a second cellular phone number.
btw: Tizen means it doezn't.
So the Apple Watch was not a real product when Tim Cook introduced it, because back then there was no pricing available. That makes sense.

Why don't you embrace that there is competition? You don't have to buy the 3G edition, as well as you dont have to buy the Apple Watch Edition if you don't like it.

People with blind dedication to a brand are so annoying. Sadly, you find this a lot on MacRumors these days.

well.. Apple, looks like u have some competition...

I had a feeling someone would improve a better battery experience than the Apple watch, Thanks to Samsung :)

I like the Classic though. but 3G one is also a winner in my book.

And we all though square was good..... Round is not that bad either.. I bet users would not want to say "no i still prefer the :apple:Watch"
So you've actually used it and know what battery life it gets in real life? Also the smallest watch us still bigger than 38mm Watch. I personally would rather have a watch that doesn't look humongous on my wrist. I have no problem charging my Watch before I go to bed and usually in the morning I just have to top it off which I do while in the shower. Unless something gets like a week of battery life I don't really see how two days is much better than one.

1. Few options for style. No band changing it doesn't look like.
2. Not as functional as the Apple Watch.
3. Round.
4. Runs Tizen, limiting app support to laughably low levels.
5. Not as nice as the Apple Watch.
6. Smaller screen but larger device footprint than Apple Watch (42mm)

So, failure.

Quite an improvement over their hideous melted cellphone earlier models. These watches look like proper watches. I'd have to see them in person to determine if they would look attractive on my small feminine wrist. It will be interesting to see what becomes of Tizen.

I like that at least one of the models can stand on its own without requiring tethering to a cell phone. I can envision a few scenarios in which I might want that option, so it's nice to have. Lol, but I can also see where a lot of people would think it is stupid.

Kudos to Samsung for coming up with something reasonably attractive and innovative.

It's a shame I have never heard anything good about their customer support and service and support of older devices.

Originally I think round watch face is better. but after wearing apple watch for a while, I definitely think you should make it square. round watch face is exactly as old none-smart watch. And the style basically are same. So you cannot really compete with those Swaziland watch brands. which means you could never replace them even smart watches are smart

Good question!! See you in 6 and a bit years?

Exactly. Haha.

More interestingly, I wonder how the Apple Watch 2 will perform.

2-3 days of battery life is an impressive boast.

I feel like the Apple Watch was pushing Apple's talent to breaking point: there was talk of 'squeezing' 18 hours of battery life from the Watch. Then again, Apple will have been working on Apple Watch 2 from before the release of the first Watch, that's the nature of what they do, so they can't have released their very latest and greatest technology.

I have to say, it does look a lot nicer and cooler than the Watch
I would have prefered a round watch myself. But now that I have had the apple watch on my wrist for a few months, I am completely happy with the square face. I love the links band on my watch and generally think it to be a beautiful work of art. So although these watches "look" good, I believe Apple did it right. Let's see when the pricing come out. Let's see what apps will be supported in Tizen. Not sure Apple is too worried right now.

Jony Ive and his cohorts must be hitting the pub soon to drown their sorrows because there's just no coming back from this knockout punch. 302 ppi, Tizen OS, 1 GHz dual core processor, Samsung Pay, S Health activity tracking dust, IP68 and water resistance. So much win for such a small product. Just look at that gorgeous design. Those Korean designers are something else. That round display is tons more elegant than that iWatch thing. Such a natural display for displaying notifications and text.

This is Korean ingenuity, people. This is Samsung Gear S2.

Taking a cue from Apple, Samsung designed a new 24-hour fitness activity log for the Gear S2, which will let users view daily progress and get reminders to help them stay on track with fitness goals.

Samsung has a special version for their engineers: it lets them view daily progress and get reminders to help them stay on track with copying features from Apple products. :)

Ok, so look.

Out of interest what other non Apple manufacturer device launches does MacRumors actually cover on the front page on this site?
I can't remember so was wondering how the click bait goes with this site?
I see so many other stories' including Apple ones around the web, yet MacRumors always posts the Samsung ones....

For instance, unsurprisingly no mention of how Motorola has won an appeal against Apple in the German over the slide to unlock patent:

Or the story about Samsung being found guilty of stealing trade secrets from TMSC for the migration to the 14nm/16nm FinFET process, a process that Samsung uses to make Apple's A9 processor.

As for Samsungs new watches, I have to laugh as they run Tizen yet today it was officially announced that Android Wear will support iOS...
Seems short sighted to me.

A round watch indeed looks cool — the Moto 360 is beautiful —, but to me a round screen is not functional to display information. It can work in a few situations, but not the majority.

Great design is also how it works, not just how it looks.

Agree. Samsung makes the worst of all the smart watches yet they make front page. LG, Asus, Moto, Apple all make a much better smart watch.

Looks like Android is going to flood the market with watches just like they do with phones! YAY! Then we can hear about how Android wear is outselling the competition 135 to 1.

Quality over Quantity. I guess that has been forgotten.

I hate to say it, but some of the Android watches look much better than the Apple watch and work really well. I am not going to knock 'em.

Never understood the fascination with Samsung though. There stuff always feels budget to me. Too much plastic, and they charge a premium. (Tablets and Phones. Will wait to pass full judgement on the watch)
