Samsung's new motto: If you can't beat 'em, bash 'em.

Yep. Which has convinced me that my iPhone and iPad are trash so I'm trashing them.

But they haven't convinced me that I should get a Samsung anything to replace them. Two apps on the screen together. I believe I can do that with a Surface right. so why not get that. I don't watch horror films full of black on black so the screen issue doesn't really impress me that much.

oh and the article could use a tad bit of editing. The end comments talk about the iPad's pixel count as if that means anything on the contrast issue but its really as much a back light issue so maybe that should have been mentioned also.

Perhaps this will educate some people on here? But probably not, but this IS a perfect example of departmentalised corporations, they make a video mocking the very component they make to promote another component they make.

I don't like AMOLED, the Pentile ones are rubbish and they have shorter lives then LCD, plus in my eyes their is NOTHING wrong with a Retina iPads screen and I would much prefer it to a Galaxy Tab screen.

well clearly you are after a PADD. Sorry not available for another 250 years for that.

I'm happy to see Samsung wasting lots of money on advertising that simply confirms that Apple is the standard

I don't know about "The standard" but certainly the ads give off a feeling like Samsung feels threatened by Apple as well as not feeling like they have much to crow about. Reminds me of the first Surface ads when Microsoft was forced on the kickstand and the keyboard and talked about little else

I love how Samsung spend Millions bashing Apple. Yet, Apple is just busy working and NO ONE know what they will do next....

its coming.......:cool::apple:

Kinda Touchy No?

I guess I missed the part in either commercial where the word, "Apple" is spoken. There are lots of tablets that use LCD screens and don't have multi-tasking.

I also find it interesting how many commenters characterize the Justin Long campaign as having been, "good natured," while the current Samsung ads somehow attack Apple customers. I don't think you could draw that conclusion objectively. They're using a similar tactic, and Samsung is arguably doing it more gently as there is no patronizing tone nor does Samsung portray its (unnamed) competition as goofy and incompetent. :apple:

lol at the stealth trolling from macrumors staff at getting the hardcore all bumhurt on a regular basis with these types of posts

Well, if you REALLY want to be daft, you could claim Samsung is even copying Apples advertising, seeing as Apple spent at least a year constantly publicly bashing PC's and PC users.

But that's just going round in circles ;)

I'd hope Apple considers this tech in a future update!

I hope it considers it without the crummy pentile arrangement...

That's what Samsung forgets to mention, while apple has RGB backlighted, they don't actually have RGB lighting up, but rather RGBG...

So, in terms of Subpixels, apple has 2048 x 1536 x 3, and Samsung has 2560 x 1600 x 2.5.

Meaning the displays in reality are much closer than on paper... However someone was stupid enough to say that "half-sub-pixels" instead of real RGB pixels count as pixels too, so you can get cheap 1080p displays on smartphones with cheating... which ends up in some colours being fuzzy on edges, and a strong tint usually... That's the reason why iPhone with inferior resolution still looks as sharp as, or even better, than competition

If you ask me, that add constitutes false advertising, as they don't light up RGB pixels :) But if you showed that, the screen would only have 8% better resolution... not 30% :p

Anybody else getting right click menu popups when they tap to play YouTube videos like these on their iPad (I have an iPad mini if it matters)? Didn't have this problem yesterday.

Ditto. Very weird. I suspect this is a Google scheme to cookie unsuspecting viewers. So I refuse to click on any of the pop up choices -- instead reloading the page and playing directly from the video player as usual. I don't trust them.

More Hyperbole with catchphrases such as "Bash" in the title...

As a consumer, do some research, buy what you think is right for you!

Bad, isn't it? Typical, though. You got 2 cores, I got 4, they're better. How many dpi you got! Hey, I got more! Oh, and that crowd's a bunch of fanboys! Next big thing! Schoolyard taunts.

specs mean very little to most folks. Geeks will get it. Just like they get the math of why 4 cores that do 2.0 is better than 2 that do 3.0 and so on.

to the average person (which is a good 80-90% of the market) its all about what you can do. Which is why Apple's ads are so good. They focus on the doing. And they go for the feels, oh do they go for the feels. Parents playing with their kids, little babies doing anything, saving kids from getting sick or hurt, a deaf woman traveling alone, everyone's dream of being a rock star, exploring the world. they hit it hard. it's shocking no one has died from the feels overload that is Apple's marketing. and they basically never utter a mention of any other product (they save that for snarky comments in their keynotes)

Lol just look at what a mess the layout is, Samsung is so clueless.

If anyone could think of the worst way to use multi-tasking in the real world it would be Samsung in these commercials. Who would want to share a tablet to watch a movie and do anything else especially while the other person is moving it.

Split screen would be awesome.

Email on one and Internet on other. I can see lots of other users. I wouldn't be bashing a feature like that.

I disagree to the greater extent. I really can't see many reasons why two apps running side by side is all that useful. Maybe if I was still a student and I was writing a paper but I'm not likely to do that on an iPad, a computer makes more sense

Cause Mac VS PC commercial worked so well for apple! :D

I think it worked very well for them. Not to mention it made me want to switch to Mac even more back then.

I never felt offended once during those commercials. But I do take offense when Samsung is constantly bashing iOS users these days.

Tablet split screen - I dont get it...

I just dont see the use case for split screen on a tablet...

Tablets (and specifically what Apple originally released the iPad intended for) are for accomplishing tasks on the go with a portable handheld device. Any split screen is just going to make it harder to see each task... its actually easier to switch between apps and see them both full screen... course this is what i do on my computer also - its not like any OS really lets you use 2 apps at the same time (best you can do is make front app window smaller so you can see another apps window, but you still cant interact with both without switching between them).

I really would not want this on my phone or tablet, especially for the use case depicted in the video - seriously who tries to watch 2 shows at once (didnt anyone learn anything from how PIP has failed to gain any usefullness?) - and then he gets a call and both videos keep playing while it is ringing? ROFL - thank you Apple for having basic common sense and realizing people would want everything to be paused when a call comes in... And I actually am on the fence about whether I like the new message notifications that no longer pause everything (the notification at the top can sometimes distract me and i miss some of a video and have to rewind or lose my game)

This is honestly the worst commercial I've ever seen. Who shares an iPad with their infant? Why doesn't he watch the sports on the TV or the baby watch the show on the TV? If you have two shows on one device not only is that going to kill the battery, one of them will have no sound. Stupidest commercial I have ever seen :(:apple:

Samsung is coming up with such made up scenarios. What's next? "grandma has a tablet that is 10 inches but she can only see a picture that is at least 12 inches. What does she do? Buy the new 12 inch samsung"

I dont know what's funnier. The absolutely stupid scenario in the commercial or the people defending it.
