Dude, don't come at me with that nonsense! If Samsung is just plain better, then why do they even need a "POWER SAVE MODE"! Power save mode is a cop out and you know it! Have fun with your Dumb phone, it can't do anything! LOL! :D

It's not nonsense. It's scientific tests from Anandtech.

And Power Saving mode exists as a useful feature. If I'm going camping or I forget to charge the phone for a couple days and it's dying.

Probably should do some research on your own before making silly comments

the S5 outperforms the 5S in battery life in virtually every test, without using the ultra low power mode to extend use of the device by days.

The Ultra lower power super mode isn't meant to make your phone have a 20 day or whatever battery life. it's meant so that if you cannot get to a charger and you've got 10% battery, and you need a device for emergency or basic communications to keep you going.

Apple has decent battery life. But without any of these "power saving modes", once you're out of battery, you're effectively out of communication quick.

Yeah, right! Did you send me this message using 3G? I totally believe you! Like I said, why even have a power save mode if you phone is all that! With Power Save mode the guilt is written all over your face!

Wow. 36% over crappy. That's pretty good. And I didn't know that Samsung was shipping their phones with developer builds now...

The GS5 has great battery life, so a 36% improvement is amazing. (Although it's the screens that use up the most battery so it won't really be 36%)

So you're saying Anandtech is lying in their battery life tests?

This whole "debate" about battery life is ridiculous. The amount of people I've seen complaining about how crap their phone battery life is who hard game on the thing for an hour a day, have the brightness all the way up, vibrate on, wifi and Bluetooth on, constantly check Facebook etc, stream music and video over 3G.

That's some processor heavy usage.

Any personal computer with that amount of usage ALL DAY - EVERY DAY is going to have a serious strain on the battery. It's a marvel that the iPhone doesn't drain after 4hrs the way some people use it. There are no laptops even currently that you can even use for 24hrs - and they've far bigger batteries as an advantage.

It can be improved upon, but the main thing average non-tech Joe Consumer needs to know is the things/habits that eat battery and perhaps lay off them if they can't make a second charge in a day? Battery life starts with the user habits!

Even if the battery life is better on that one model, aren't the "wall huggers" going to be users of most other phones, including lots of androids and lots of other samsungs? Pretending that only iPhone users need to charge suits the point they'd like to make, but it's not really honest. I wonder what the reaction to this ad will be from all the other android/samsung users with iffy battery life, I can see some being pissed that they have a phone they're constantly charging but feeling like the ad is saying their phone has a good battery.

Android 'L'. 36% battery improvement.

You mean claimed 36% improvement. It doesn't ship to the public for months, at that point we'll see if the claims are true.

My co-worker (Indian) used to swap batteries and charge his S4 like every hour! I usually can get by with one charge for the day on my iPhone 4s, which took a major battery decrease with iOS7 too. All depends on how much you're using it. If you're constantly charging your phone all day, then I best suggest you find a real job to fix the problem

Why is it relevant that your co-worker is Indian?

Samsung is so pathetic... it boils me to ****ing watch that. guess what Samsung, that bandaid looking piece of shyt looks hideous and the back cover splits apart from the base when dropped, AND couldn't even hold charge. haha PATHETIC.

get back to me when your device actually matters. APPLE Doesn't care.. Apple will walk around your piece of crap device.

Apple might not care, but you... wow you... you seem to care a helluva lot. You do realize these are nothing but cellphones right?

Power save mode is the stupidest feature ever! It is a cop out! Apps can't even run with it! It creates fragmentation for the expected feature set of the phone at any given time! Didn't you get the memo? Oh, your Samsung phone was in power save mode for the last 7 hours! LOL! Oh, and your girlfriend broke up with you 3 hours ago on Facebook, sorry but you are the last to know! :p

This was the way Apple advertised their products for 90% of their existence, by insulting their competition and, in turn, the masses that used them.

Remember "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC".

Further back, Apple used to have Jeff Goldblum bash the "big beige box" to mock the Wintel platform.

And remember Ellen Feiss?

Apple has traditionally invested more effort in calling out their competition rather than just making feel good ads about all the features their devices have. Those ads full of inspired music showing people doing things with an iPad or iPhone are actually quite RARE for Apple.

It is an important rule to never mention your competition in advertising, that is like Mad Men Rule #1! Doing so only solidifies the people using your competition against you. Rarely will someone ever switch to another product when someone tells you the product you're using sucks.

This is why Apple historically failed to capture any of the PC market with ads like "I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" because most PC users thought Mac users were simply douchebags like Justin Long or drugged out teenaged girls.

It is more historically accurate to claim Samsung is copying Apple's traditional advertising style then to say that Apple has risen above all this.

This. I was going to post about the same thing. Just because Apple shoves feel good crappy commercials down our throat every commercial break, doesn't mean their hands are clean in competitor bashing.

It's funny and all.. But will it make people switch from the iPhone? NO. Will it make people go for the Galaxy instead of iPhone? Probably not. So, no point in this ad.

Ah Ah, I remember changing a battery once in my life on a Nokia 3310 back in 1998. But Samsung forgot to mention one important piece of information...people with iphones use their phone more than people with androids. So yes, we need to charge them more often.

Who has a wall that I can hug? :D

EGGS-xactly!

One day we shall have nuclear powered cellphone... no more battery needed, ever...
Plus just imagine if someone steals my phone I can remotely control it to explode.
