One of these days Samsung will get around to using their ads to highlight the benefits of using their products and the great features that come along with them. In the mean time they will continue to come across as children in their marketing campaigns.

The I'm a PC ads were exactly the same...

I see just as many non-apple products plugged in at airports. A bit exaggerated. But, I would like to see better battery life.. but who wouldn't? If it was a big problem for me, I'd carry a spare quick charge battery… but it's not.

That's funny. I've never had a problem with my iphone battery life. Even on the worst days I get a whole day out of it. Usually I can even make it 2 days if I turn off wifi. On the other hand I've never met an android user who could go a whole 12 hour work day without charging. Doesn't mean they aren't out there, I just haven't met them.

I thought THAT was the best part of the ad.

In power saving mode, users only have access to basic phone functions, such as making and receiving calls, accessing email, and browsing the web. It limits cellular connectivity to 3G, turning off LTE, and it also disables WiFi and Bluetooth.

Samsung has to make their Smart phone a Dumb phone in power save mode, see above, in order to compete with the iPhone's battery life! Samsung, how stupid do you think we are? If I wanted a crippled Dumb phone in power save mode, then I would have bought the same phone my Grandmother uses!

Try turning LTE off.

What tends to happen, if LTE attena is on in your device, and you are outside of LTE area, while your device flips down to 3g, your LTE antenna is still trying to get back onto LTE, often ramping up the juice used.

THis is probably why you're finding the drain so much higher in 3g than in LTE.

It's certainly possible to extend battery life when needed (airplane mode, turn of WiFi and BT, turn off LTE, etc.) -- I'll do it when necessary -- but I really want to avoid having to do that constantly, and just have a bigger, longer-lasting battery in my phone. A battery case is nice (I have a good one), but then having to carry and use a headphone jack extender is annoying. A separate battery can work, too (I have two), but that's just another thing (and a cable) to carry around.

While just topping off the battery works most of the time, it's not at all convenient when you're on the go or travelling. Or have the unexpected back-to-back calls you have to take away from the office. And, yes, I see PLENTY of people at the airport charging all sorts of devices, and that's a pain, too. I'd rather carry an external battery...

I'd happily carry something 50-75% thicker if that meant a much longer-lasting battery.

Still wouldn't switch to Samsung. Battery life is just one metric. And Apple owns all the other metrics as far as I'm concerned. And it's no foregone conclusion that Samsung's battery life is significantly better than the iPhone's

Samsung doesn't have to make their phone dumb. It's just plain better

I like that they include the changing of a battery. Something I had to do frequently when I had a samsung phone, however having to carry an extra battery everywhere is in no way an advantage or selling point in my book.

Samsung wouldn't dare try to do this with the iPad though. My Galaxy Note 10.1 has by far the worst battery life of any tablet I have owned.

I've literally never had to carry a charger when I'm out and about doing my daily life.... The only time I had an issue was during WWDC; I had to use an external battery -- but, I was *constantly* using the device all day. Even still, it lasted most of the day pretty easily... (Also, I had issues with battery on 7.1.1; resolved for me on 7.1.2.)

Don't forget you are comparing a brand new phone to a phone that already has been out since last September. If the comparison holds up, bravo, but time will tell with that one.

12 hour workday? Do you work in an Apple factory?

Dude, don't come at me with that nonsense! If Samsung is just plain better, then why do they even need a "POWER SAVE MODE"! Power save mode is a cop out and you know it! Have fun with your Dumb phone, it can't do anything! LOL! :D Only 3G and no Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, ain't nobody got time for that!

Probably should do some research on your own before making silly comments

http://anandtech.com/show/7903/samsung-galaxy-s-5-review/5

the S5 outperforms the 5S in battery life in virtually every test, without using the ultra low power mode to extend use of the device by days.

The Ultra lower power super mode isn't meant to make your phone have a 20 day or whatever battery life. it's meant so that if you cannot get to a charger and you've got 10% battery, and you need a device for emergency or basic communications to keep you going.

Apple has decent battery life. But without any of these "power saving modes", once you're out of battery, you're effectively out of communication quick.
