Am I late for the massive wall of Samsung hate followed by the aftershock of Macrumors hate for posting crappy news stories for clickthroughs?

Do lots of people wait in line for Apple. Apple must make an amazing product for people to wait. Thanks for pointing that out.

Oh your iPhone battery is dying already? Wow, you must be on your iPhone for hours straight. I wish my Samsung phone was cool enough to use that much that I needed to wall hug.

I'll never buy products from Samsung. They are dirty and corrupt. Do your research, then invest in tech.

And yet just about every piece of tech we have with an Apple brand on it likely has at least some part(s) made by Samsung. When you buy tech from either Apple or Wintel, odds are high that if you opened it up and took a good look, you'd find something in there made by Samsung. It was just announced this week that the next gen A processors will be mostly made for Apple by…" https://www.macrumors.com/2014/07/01/samsung-globalfoundries-apple-a9-2015/ (so even Apple knows where their bread is best buttered).

I know "we" have to hate them. I know that's the rules. But if you step into threads about yellow screens or SSDs, you'll see some of the most Apple faithful "hoping to get the Samsung one". Hate 'em if you wish but they make great tech underpinning most (all?) of the Apple goodies "we" love.

Hardly changes anything. However, on consumer electronics the FCC should force companies of mobiles and computers to make the battery innerchageable. Hell, they might even force them to make it price-friendly. For the sake of the environment and the greedy cooperations.

So true! Haha. Dont forget powerbanks too. It's funny to see that all iPhone users in the office including me have their iPhones plugged in our desktop all day.

Is Samsung for real? or they're just targeting a bunch of retards? Galaxy batteries has always sucked.

Samsung need to stop being so in your face with the 'samsung phone owners are cool, everyone else is a loser' thing they do in all of their ads. It's painful to watch, even if the message of the ad is good.

Have they never heard of portable batteries? i have 15000 mAH Anker portable battery and I could recharge my phone and do whatever i want without "hugging" the wall.....

The point of the ad is to take a poke at a built-in feature advantage- just as Apple did in Mac & PC ads for years. I know we have to hate this commercial (because that's the rules) but I've seen these very kinds of images and we do that ourselves at the airport when traveling. Part of the task between flights is to hunt for a free outlet to grab some juice.

Sure, we could take along a portable battery but that's one more thing to carry. Samsung is implying- right or wrong- that their battery life is greater than iPhone battery life. Some of us will swear that is not true and others will acknowledge it. I know in our own situation, we're usually competing in the hunt for airport jacks with Android people. Both groups are trying to "top off" or "recharge" between flights.

Nevertheless, since I've seen that same kind of imagery in reality (actually fairly often when traveling), I found the commercial humorous- even effective in what it was trying to accomplish. And based on our own iPhone experiences when traveling, I could take a leap of faith that some of these Samsung phones probably do have better battery life. I suspect their larger sizes play a big role in that. Apple will soon be toe-to-toe with case width & height (maybe even a bit bigger). Will they fill that space with battery to address this issue or will they max out the "thinner" spin again with the usual "about the same battery life as the 5s"?

Battery packs are so bulky. Why not just use a battery case. They offer more life and protection.

That has become our own "solution" with our iPhones. But the punch of the commercial is stock model, not stock model plus another accessory. Any accessory power included to get an iPhone up to snuff in terms of battery life could also be added to the Samsung boosting it's battery life by an equal amount of extra juice.

That is really funny since my friends with androids ARE always out of charge, while my 4S is still kickin.

Samsung is a joke with these false adds, at least in my experience.

I'll take my compact 4S any day over the fatass galaxy phones.

Definitely funny since my S4 drains 30% of its battery just while I sleep. Constantly have to change my battery on that phone it's ridiculous.

"Hello I'm a Mac and I'm a PC…": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5z0Ia5jDt4

Let me guess: the above doesn't apply when Apple does it.
It's not the same when the only people in the ads are anthropomorphic representations of the platform, NOT the actual consumer. Or do you actually think Apple was trying to stereotype Windows Users as fat, narcoleptic, amnesiac businessmen who got sick all the time?

Never had an issue with battery life on my iPhones. I had a Lucid for a short time that drained batteries like a vampire.

I'm almost always on wifi and don't play games all day long. It's definitely how you use your iPhone that will determine how much battery life you get out of it.

I have a friend who is constantly complaining about iPhone battery life. Of course he has no comment when reminded about his 24/7 Netflix usage. XD

Great promotion for how much iPhone users actually use their devices - for everything. As far as I can tell, Android phones are for fiddling with. Whatever floats your boat.

All you ever hear from samcopy users is how dreadful the battery life is. This is the equivalent of diet coke - you're going to drink it just for the taste. Blatantly trying to change perceptions by repetitive re-programming.

It's like those ads making fun of people lining up for iPhone - great promotion for Apple. Crowds do line up for iPhone — and nothing else. Thanks again samcopy!

Like the samcopy launch events, it must be a cultural thing that we in the west just don't get. Publicising your competitor's customer devotion (and in this case how much they use the product for real things), must be a Korean thing. To western eyes, it only cements Apple's position as THE highly desirable product. Not many manufacturers enjoy that kind of customer satisfaction, much less devotion.

This approach to marketing belies samcopy's real market position. If you take out sub-iPhone class devices, iPhone really is the vast majority of the market and samcopy is just happy to be in there picking up the crumbs, making money for google.

At least you're not bitter about it.

I'm amazed at how many fanboys and Apple apologists there are out there.

Like most ads, it's effective because it has enough accuracy to strike a nerve. I call BS on all the people on here claiming they easily get a day (or more) use on their phone with normal activity. I love my iPhone as much as anyone...but I'm honest enough to admit the battery life is disappointing.

Most iPhone users I know I have a charger in their car and at work knowing full well their phone isn't going to make it through the day. And you can't go through any airport without seeing people clamoring around outlets charging up devices. Now you can argue that all smartphones eat batteries...but the image of people worrying about keeping their iPhone charged is something you see in real life.

Rather than knee-jerk bashing Samsung, you'd hope Apple fans would agree and put pressure on Apple to address it. There's all this talk about the iPhone 6 being 'thinner'....I'd MUCH rather have it be the same thickness and significantly better battery than the same performance as the 5/5S.

Very well said and I'd rather have the same 5s thickness too, filling the new added width & height with battery. The "thinnest iPhone ever" spin is nice for Apple marketing. Meaningfully more battery life is nice for every single iPhone 6 buyer. At least for myself, the 5s thinness is plenty thin. I don't really see anyone griping about the onerous thickness of the 5s anywhere.

So given a choice of even thinner or a good deal more battery life, my choice is very simple. However, I suspect Apple will go the other way. Spinning "thin" is a repetitive marketing bullet for Apple product launches. Adding some battery will add a little bit of unit cost to every iPhone. The first costs Apple nothing. The latter costs something.

My 5s battery lasts vastly longer than my HTC Desire, Galaxy S2, S3 and S4 ever did, the S4 battery life was useless.

And oh, the charging time on those big Androids is YEARS. iPhones charge in no time.

My...my...this is pretty important stuff to you, isn't it.

May I quietly point out that it's just a commercial.

Their last innovation was announced a couple of days ago... Samsung's new V NAND (new technology, innovated by Samsung) SSDs, the best in class.

http://www.engadget.com/2014/07/01/samsung-850-pro-v-nand-ssd-review-roundup/?ncid=rss_truncated

If you do a bit of a research you'll be amazed at just how much Samsung innovates.

I think anyone who says Samsung doesn't innovate is pretty clueless.

I also think anyone who says Samsung doesn't copy things that Apple does is pretty clueless.

Spin it man! spin it! Obviously I should take back my point because Mac vs. PC ads were not exactly the same as Galaxy vs. iPhone ads. In fact the lack of "anthropomorphic representations" makes me completely regret implying that Apple would ever stoop to putting down a direct competitor in their own ads.

My apologies to all. I've been on here for 10 years now and I keep forgetting the rules like whatever Apple says or does is absolutely fine & perfect and whatever anyone else does against Apple is pathetic, abomination, stupid, etc. My mistake & apologies.

Jobs used to bash Gates, and they were supposedly friends.

The original iPhone through the 3GS were not great. But, back then, compared to what? They were a lot better than the Palm. With the 4S through 5S, battery life has been pretty good. Better, for sure, than the early Galaxy S. I'm not sure about the latest.

I would like an easily replaceable battery, though.
