Ahh that makes a big difference lol...yeah right. Find anyway to justify Apple doing the same thing huh?

Yeah it does actually. Most companies dominant in a space don't give their competition free advertising. How often does Coke mention Pepsi in their ads? Or McDonalds mentioning Burger King?

Too small for what? If I want a tablet I'll get a tablet. I need for a phone to fit into a pocket, and I don't *want* it to be thinner and thus more fragile.

Agreed on all counts. I refuse to be one of these doofuses as shown below. Plus, this constant issue of "thinner thinner thinner, must make everything thinner" just needs to stop. Too thin, and it just becomes awkward to handle.

I would like to know what this "HD Screen" thing is that they are talking about. If they are just saying it has a screen resolution of 1920x1080 then i think Samsung has hit a new low. At this point they are just marketing to keep their existing client base, anyone who knows anything about technology should easily see through the apple bashing and the skewed facts.

These ads just keep the general public dumb by using misrepresented advertising tactics to make the consumer feel as if they have something superior to everything else, when it's mostly the same.

The Galaxy S4 has more total resolution than the iPhone 5/5S but it's screen uses something called a PenTile display. This means that it has twice as many green pixels as blue and green pixels, so a quarter of it's resolution is just BS. For example on the blue background they set by default the screen has half the resolution.

So in the green spectrum it has more pixels but in the blue and red it has less it actually has lower pixels per inch than the iPhone 5 in blue and red.

This solves the problem Samsung had where it's screens that they were advertising as being super high resolution were actually really grainy because they displayed anything but green at lower resolution.

Samsung should reword their iPhone ad to say:

The Galaxy S4 - It has glorious HD resolution, though technically identical to the iPhone 5/5S.

Also it has a bigger screen! Like Lebron!

And their iPad ad to say:

The Samsung Galaxy Tab: A much smaller screen and multi tasking, though we do offer higher resolution, also the multi tasking is horribly laggy to the point of being useless and the ecosystem is abysmal.

I have to use a newer galaxy tab at work, it's horrible.

SamDone

Oh look, a 90’s retro stylus pen, that will get lost after the first few weeks of using it, when it falls out of the hole when you are not looking.

Hmmm, I’m trying to think why I need to multi task on a portable tablet. I guess I could browse the internet while watching a robot smashing a bridge movie AND send e-mail attachment – all at the same time like in the SAMSUNG video. Though it couldn’t hurt to have the option, but why pay for the hardware when studies show you mobile tablet consumption calls less for multi-tasking

As others have asked, why is multitasking so important? Tablet screens are small enough to make doing even one task more tedious than it would be on a computer screen as it is. What advantage is there to having two or three apps showing at the same time on a minuscule 10" screen???

multitasking... really?

Why in the world would I want to watch a movie and work on "something else" at the same time?. Your focal point can only absorb one thing. My thoughts, multitasking like that is useless.

hahaha the sarcasm in those ads cracked me up. at least enjoy it for what it is, a sarcastic joke

obviously Apple has the last laugh

Samsung shouldn't throw stones in glass houses.

Word on the street is that they had to drop out of Apple's A8 chip production over crappy yields.

https://www.macrumors.com/2014/02/17/samsung-drops-a8-low-yield/

So what was that you were saying about iPhone screen size again, Samsung?

What does this have to do with anything related to this story? I mean .. you could have picked several things but you went and tried to relate to stories that are totally unrelated. Congrats.

Agreed on all counts. I refuse to be one of these doofuses as shown below. Plus, this constant issue of "thinner thinner thinner, must make everything thinner" just needs to stop. Too thin, and it just becomes awkward to handle.

Which doofus would you like to be then? Isn't making everything thinner also Apple's thing?

I am firmly entrenched in Apple's camp and not going anywhere. However, I have often wondered "when will Apple bring out a bigger screen"? I would rather Verizon subsidize a "mini tablet", if you will, rather than me having to pony up all of the dough for an actual iPad Mini.

Apple's constant company line has been more or less "Most people use their iPhone with one hand and the iPhone is the perfect size." Not me, I have average hands and I still use two for most everything. Hold with left hand, operate with right pointer. Typing? Two hands. So, why are we still sporting a 4-inch screen, Apple? Because you're afraid, and rightly so, that people would disregard getting the iPad mini if they can get a 5.5-inch iPhone. It's not 7.9-inches but for many, it would be good enough.

Still love you Apple. But let's do this already and show Samsung how it's done!

Samsung clearly demonstrate why they are so far behind.

Apple is an easy target on what might be seen as minor differences that most don't care about.

Multitasking on one screen, yep that old chestnut. I own a laptop and use most things in full screen and tab between apps like on the iPad, why you say don't i use side by side, because it's a COMPROMISE for both apps and most people concentrate on a task one at a time.

Larger is no better, that's like saying my big car is better than your small car but doesn't actually mean you get a better car, it's down to what you want out of the car, city driving, economic, off road etc.

A stylus, ok go and show me why i want one because last i saw, styluses are the domain of traditional click target os's not touch os's like ios. you never need have a stylus and if you are inventing a touch os to use a stylus you are making the finger more difficult to use not easier!

Full HD, ok I challenge anyone to see there difference between 720p and 1080p on both phones at 12 inches. you won't not even possible i guarantee you won't be able to do it. Yes you can pixel peep but your eye can't resolve the fine detail let alone in a MOVING image.

Screen size, ok ok, yes the 4 inch iPhone is small but come on it makes sense for a phone to fit in your pocket, i'm sure apple will bring larger sizes soon as they have with tablets.

Samsung need to really rethink their whole approach, they copy and try to improve but end up still not matching the originators.

The only time I would ever respect and appreciate one of their designs is if they were truly different from the ground up but there are so many aspects that are direct rip offs even the manner of their marketing is a direct rip.

1. Apple is not just an easy target, they are the only target. #1 is always the target
2. Multitasking is nice to have. I use it daily (right now in fact). Make no mistake, it's coming to the iPad
3. Larger/smaller screen is simply preference. Having a choice is key. A lot of Apple fans want that choice right now. <-From Apple.
4. Stylus. Why you would want one? IDK. The 3rd party market for iPad stylus'/stylii says some people actually do have uses.
5. 12 inches. Everyone doesn't walk around with a ruler. Full HD is not a deal breaker but it is nice. What are you going to say when iPhone goes that direction, and it will.
6. New flash. 5" phones fit in pockets. Normal pockets. You don't need cargo pants.

wow that looks dumb, looks like an old early 80's cellphone mated with a smartphone.

Yea, case in point: iMac

Indeed, I don't why they did that on the new one. I have the previous gen 27" iMac and at least you could change the hard drive somewhat easily but now they glued the screen to the chassis on the new one!??!

exactly, so why does it need to be thinner?

It's irrelevant in the context of this thread, but -- Less material used? Less desk space? With the iMac a lot of it probably is for show, but the fact that it's thinner isn't really changing its usability.

I think they nailed it here..

The word "dump" is spot on when it comes to the Samsung phone :)

the use of a stylus ? I remember these on the old DisplayMate...

And even though the only thing that's changed, it that they are now "optional" and/or used for certain features..

Oh ya.. i can tell we have come a long way :p

The ad is right in other areas,, why would you want to watch on a small screen, but its not really "mocking" Apple's iPhone, since the same can be applied to anything deserves a big TV too.

Maybe they should have put more thought into this ad before attempting a shameful response...

But wat,,, isn't Samsung following this up with a Touch sensor of their own in the next Galaxy ? This is just funny

They bash companies like hell, then they follow what Apple has done (meaning they think it's good)

So which is it ? is the ad actually *bashing* or just marketing hype ?

No one would bash Apple, but then bring a Galaxy phone (in the works) with surprisingly a Touch ID... (regardless of what features directly they are bashing against)

It's just a *poor-man's* impression. In any case, I'm awaiting for the next ad...

As for the tablets resolutions ? 1600 x 2560 is far to high on 10.1 -inch anyway..

acceptable resolutions on acceptable sized tablet sized are going over the top, because "marketing" again.. and people guzzle this in like a bourbon on a hot day.
