Then in your case replace "iPhone" with your GS3. And for other people whatever kind of phone they have. My point stands.

You are right. Your point still stands... on one leg, in a roller skate, on a hill with cross traffic. How do you, in a conversation about mobile devices, decide that your point would be strengthened by positing a TV would be a viable alternative? Is it your movie argument? There was no movie in the Note ad. It was a sports highlight. Last I checked, bringing your TV with you woud severely hamper your mobility. They don't fit in pockets. Not even cargo pants.:)

haha i actually like these commercials, since they're telling the truth. I mean come on, its 2014 and on ipad you still cant have 2 apps on one screen at the same time.
Multitasking is really a misnomer, you are not doing multiple tasks at once you are serial-taking, jumping from one task to another, which you are quite able to do with an iPad. I always though it odd that they would show a user watching a film and then writing an email. Seriously? Is you taste in movies so poor you are driven to write an email during it? Its not that big of a deal. I have 15 applications open on my computer right now, but I am only paying any attention to one.

They gotta get in while they can. This ad will be invalid in about 6 months...

Does Samsung actually mentioned Apple in the ad? No. It just happen that Apple is only the iPad maker. When Apple attacking Windows for something, aren't they directly targeting Microsoft and bunch of PC makers?

This is essentially same thing. I do not see any difference between how Apple did before and now,

By the way, Apple specifically mentioned Nexus 7 on their iPad mini first generation keynote.

iPad is an Apple brand, PC is not a Microsoft brand.

And keynotes != advertisers since who watches those besides developers?

So funny how windows and samsung phone ads make fun of apple and apple just gets to sit there, laugh, and count their money.

Samsung - sets Apple as benchmark standard.
Microsoft - sets Apple as benchmark standard.

Apple - sets themselves as benchmark standard.

Everyone knows who makes best tablets. Samsung and MS wouldn't need to compare themselves to iPad if they knew they were the best.

Sounds miserable. I seriously cannot fathom who is pushing for this.

Yes, I think you hit it on the head. Though I'm not sure it would be bad if Apple did include a "desk accessory" like function - we already have control center and notification center that are in a sense "desk accessories" since you can access them without leaving any app. I think something like Notes, iMessage, calculator could work there.

1. iPad should have a Wacom Digitizer.

2. Apple should finally fix the badly neglected video functionality on iOS.
Videos should go in videos, we should be able to save them off the web (& convert to Apples desired format from at very least, flash), iMovie should then be able to access everything in Videos, and get with the sleek 1980s and add Picture-In-Picture playback.

Samsuck might be irksome and misguided, but they're not entirely wrong.

Picture in friction Picture??? What have you been smoking?

I grew up in the 80s. I know all about Picture in Picture. It was always a "neat" demo feature for TVs in the showroom. I have never, ever, seen anyone voluntarily use it in real life except for people wanting to "monitor" one channel that went to commercial while they surf through other channels. What commercials are you trying to ignore on your iPad?

Sorry, but Samsung is indeed irksome, misguided, and entirely wrong.

Samsung basically reminds me of this sketch from The Two Ronnies.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iY2kaa3QTo

Basically copy everything that Apple do, then throw-in / extend a couple more features, then make a big hoo-hah about it.

I have a iPhone 5s, an iPad 3, and a Nexus 4 (ok, not Samsung I know). Never have I wished that my iPhone was bigger, or that either iOS device had better multitasking capabilities. I have, however, wished my Nexus 4 was smaller and less crap.

Ahhh..... therein lies the rub, doesn't it?? The implementation.
Samsung's tablets don't have horrible, not real multitasking at all, "choose from a VERY limited choice of apps to *ahem* multitask *ahem*" because their software engineers can't code.... quite to the contrary- their workforce is probably 80-90% as talented as Apple's! They are employing top-notch minds. The reason why their "multitasking" (sorry, I simply cannot use that term without quotes & keep a straight face, as what Samsung offers is clearly NOT true multitasking) is so incredibly shoddy is because true multitasking on a mobile OS is currently IMPOSSIBLE. I believe that what Samsung has done (& make no mistake... it sucks) is currently the absolute BEST that can be done. And THAT, in a nutshell friends, is why Apple is waiting.

The "multi-windowing" feature is one of those features Samsung adds just to say they have it, but that nobody actually uses.

My work phone (GS3) was updated last year with the enhancements that allowed multi-windowing support. it's not as straightforward as they show in the video.

First, you have to:

1) Enable multi-window support since it's turned OFF by default-- this is activated by a toggle at the top of the pull-down menu, and you have to scroll over to the right to find it on a GS3

2) Once enabled, you have a little multi-window tab showing on the side of your screen no matter what you're doing. If you don't like seeing the tab there all the time, then go up and turn off multi-window support. If you don't see the tab, you're using a program that's not capable of multi-windowing.

3) Pulling out the tab shows you a tray of all the apps that support multi-windowing, which not every app does.

4) Then you drag the icon to your preferred location on the screen. Congratulations! You're now "multitasking."

This is a horrible user experience, and needless to say it's a feature that I turned back off once I realized I wasn't getting any benefit from it.

Samsung doesn't add features like this to enhance the user experience. Samsung adds features so that they can make ads bashing the iDevices for not having those features. Even if the features are implemented in a way that nobody will actually want to use them.

If you like multi-windowing, just wait until you see how seamless and easy (cough) their new fingerprint reader implementation will be!

Both criticisms are fair and spot on. If I could find something that was truly better I would drop Apple in a heartbeat.

Apple's QC and focus are off since Steve passed. They seem to have forgotten the voice of the customer and only hear the cha-ching of the registers

Anyone on this thread who criticizes Samsung is just short sighted.

Do not care... Same idea for achieve something... In fact, lots of Mac vs PC targeting Windows. Windows is Microsoft brand,

Lots of people watch keynotes and not developers? Look at YouTube videos and comments...

The iPhone screen really isn't too small. Even according to Google most smartphones being used today have a screen 4.5 or less. Also the multitasking feature is NOT a must have for most people. You could say listening to your music on your idevice while reading in iBooks or surfing the web is multitasking, but if you're getting into intensive computing use a laptop.

Any actual data that bears that out? I've never actually seen anyone prove statements like this with actual facts. I was in a training class and Macs came up- (it was training for some primarily Windows based backup software). Anyway, he said that Apple has become "more proprietary" since Steve Jobs left. Wha? Hilarious. Insert whatever random thing you don't like about Apple, whether or not it's true, then say "and it's been that way since Steve Jobs left."

You are the spokesperson for "most" people?

Nice size, but android is still crap! Tried a couple of Samsung phones and sent them back as Android is just a collection of disparate apps with very little integration between them. The iPhone maybe smaller but IOS is much more useable than Android.

I gotta give it to them. Those ads are pretty good. Im sure they are pretty convincing to the uneducated consumer. And both devices look good on TV. So just imagine how many people will leave their house convinced that when they leave they get to the store, they are coming out with a SAMSUNG device.

So funny how Apple Mac ads make fun of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft just gets to site there, laugh and count their money... 5 years ago...

When was the last ad like that that ran on tv? The difference between the mac vs pc and this ad is that apple didnt seem desperate, they knew they were better and it was shown. These commercials are just sad.

So will you change you mind if/when Apple makes a tablet device with a stylus or will it be ok then?

Did you also laugh at small tablets when Steve jobs joked that anything smaller than 10" was unusable?

Did you also say that camera's on a tablet was a stupid idea before the iPad had a camera?
