Samsung is a just troll with a big budget. When they make a product that can survive on its own merit without a negative ad campaign I'd be more inclined to listen.

I really don't think these ads contribute to the sales. For example, anyone wanting the best available phablet right now will go for the Note 3 and nothing else. It's a cult device with the geeks wanting Wacom / multitasking / 4K video recording. And geeks very rarely change their mind based on some ads...

----------

I'll be surprised if Samsung are still around in a year. They look finished to me. Totally devoid of any ideas beyond copying from the competition and doing it badly.

Was this a joke?

In some areas, Samsung is by far the best.

- Where's Apple's phablet?
- Are any other phablet comparable to the Note 3, capabilities-wise?

They will unlikely to die.

Such a depressing ad. Sends the message that all samsung users care about is having the best specs and coming out on top of the pecking order so they can bash on their friends.

Nope. It's not only about specs, but also, for power users, essential features like windowed multitasking or Wacom pen.

That's a lot of Samsung products. I own zero Samsung products unless their components are used in them and I don't really have any control over that. There are a lot of alternatives to Samsung in those electronic and appliance segments that are just as good if not better.

Why give Samsung your hard earned money so they can bully everyone else with misleading marketing? With that said, you can buy whatever you want, but Samsung is an ugly corporation that will do whatever it takes to be #1 and push everyone else out.

Uh, maybe because they don't "bully" anyone? Or that they make some of the top products in a number of categories? Sorry, but I'm not buying the "ugly corporation" bit. They're pretty much on par with a ton of others.

You mean like they've been doing for the last 75 years?

Calling them a troll does not make it so, I'm sorry to say.

They do. Ads like this from big companies don't make it to the airwaves without a lot of extensive market research showing a significant change in intent-to-purchase. That being said, I agree with you that it's sort of an interesting niche they chose to target here, and perhaps not the optimal one.

Yes I remember them.... They failed at their attempt to convert PC users.

Exactly, and that's why Apple MacBooks, iPhones and iPads are seen nearly everywhere daily without even looking for them. College campuses are flooded with students using them, entrepreneurs and virtually every cafe has people using Macs. Yeah, the ads weren't effective at all. ;)

The ads did not do that. It was apple's focus on just designing quality hardware that was beautiful and hip that caused that.

You've failed when your marketing messages are all about bashing the competition. Because it demonstrates you have nothing positive to say about your own products in any great detail.

Samsung Group
Conglomerate company
Samsung Group is a South Korean multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul.
Founder: Byung-Chull Lee
Founded: 1938, Daegu, South Korea

Samsung is much older than Apple and much more diversified too. I would be more concerned about Apple that gets most of its profits from a single device (iPhone). Company like this may indeed disappear in a year.

I haven't read any of these replies, yet. However, this is an awesome ad. My galaxy note 10.1 2014 blows away any iPad, even the Air. No malice intended; it's just the truth. I used to love my ipads, too. However, my Kindle Paperwhite is, by far, the best ereader! That's what I use it for.

Apple is definitely doing the right thing. They strive to give us customers the best possible products and experiences. Relying on Samsung for anything really compromises on this sacred commitment. So whatever the reasons I'm very happy Apple us phasing Samsung out.

I am now convinced you are completely out of touch.

Doesn't Samsung get the majority of its profits from its mobile phones. Isn't it something like 65%. And yes, we get it you hate Apple and wish they would disappear off the face of the earth. Sorry to disappoint you but Apple is not going out of business anytime soon.

As a Brit I find it strange that in the USA there are so many negative ad-campaigns. This is an awful ad that just makes Samsung seem smug and make me not want to buy what they're selling.

The only positive is they mention multi-tasking as this make it become a 'thing' with the public and I hope it is on the iPad roadmap.

Ah, just think what a huge lead Apple could have had in this space had Jobs not let that snake in the grass Eric Schmidt observe everything up close and personal. Also, if the app store had been a go from the very beginning with 3g (the technology was available) with the first iphone in 2007, I think Apple would have an even bigger market share today. Perhaps Android never gets off the ground.

Samsung Sucks!!

I hate samsung they suck, stop bashing apple like that, apples a better company and has more money than them anyways!!!!! and all there products look like crap to with all that plastic!!!!!! Apples Better :apple: :apple:

Quote:
"As per the reports in Financial Times (2012) this wide spread of product portfolio has helped SEC in their growing profit, as when chips and flat screen
segment had hit hard times, mobile phones helped fuel this growth accounting for 36 per cent of total sales in the Q3 2012, compared to 27 per cent a year ago."

It's might be higher now but still... Also, Samsung has many phone models whereas Apple only has one (5c is basically a repackaged 5)

The Mac vs PC ads also worked because they weren't specifically attacking one manufacturer or naming any, for that matter, whereas Samsung are. Always reeks a bit of desperation when a manufacturer has to resort to that.

Mac vs PC adds didn't attack manufacturers, you're right, because the ads themselves never compared technical specs (ok, not quite true, I remember the "Macbook Pro is fastest running Windows laptop" ad but generally the ads focused on software) they compared the OSs. Here Samsung IS comparing both OS and specs (notice none of the targets are Android competitors) and rightly attacks the companies on all fronts. There is no difference here. Apple is equivalent to and interchangeable iOS; same for Windows and WP8; same for Amazon and Kindle OS. Its not acceptable for Apple to attack Microsoft over XP, then morally outrageous for Samsung to attack another OS or device.

If you didn't find them funny then fair enough, personally the more I think about the Windows tablet jibe in particular the funnier it is, I generally find Samsung ads terrible because they fail to display the features of their device and instead rely on catchy tunes and footage of people drinking coffee, but these ads show a direct comparison and hit the nail on the head with the Windows one at least. On the flip side, Samsung told their marketing department to attack the iPad and the best they could come up with was "our screen has a slightly higher resolution".

Particularly loved the mention of pixels.

Number of pixels != Display quality.

It's like the whole camera megapixel war all over again.

That's not quite right. Number of pixels does not equal display quality unless the Apple device has more pixels. In those instances then pixels are everything!

Cuz Samsungrumors.com is just a livestream of three guys eating a sandwich. It's kinda boring over there.

I just had the vision of someone at Apple reading this, registering the name, and putting exactly that up... With a clever cut, so they finish one sandwich, pick up the next, and it goes in an endless loop...

so you're saying - one INFINITE loop?

You think Samsung could ever make an ad that makes their product look good without trying to bash their competition?

Probably not though.. that would require them to actually make good products in the first place.

So petty - its like in the olden days when VHS players say they can record at specific set time or support PAL vs NTSC, but the matter of the truth is people don't even know how to set the time on it - so its always flashing at 00:00.

Apple's products compare with others is like VHS vs DVD. Apple's products just work. Which explains why iPad account for ~85 of web traffic for all tablets!

It's called constantly reloading tabs in safari. Not much of a wanted feature, sorry to say.

Wait isn't the Kindle an Android device? Technically shouldn't it be able to do the same as the Galaxy (if rooted and all)?

Remember the Mac vs PC ads? Same thing.

Kinda sorta. I've always considered it bad form for any business to slam a competitor unless they're the small player in a given market. When a big player in a given market (i.e., Samsung or Apple in mobile) slams someone, it just seems petty and mean-spirited.
