Uh, Apple bashed PCs for years with its Justin Long commercials.

My oh my, how quickly the fan boys forget...

No one forgot. Do you know the difference between trashy and classy? The difference is that even when you disagree with the message you still enjoy watching it. Even though Hodgeman (PC) was snarky, he was still a fun and enjoyable character. He was a bad guy we rooted for.

No one is rooting for the Apple, MS, Kindle people in this commercial and no one is rooting for the snarky Samsung people either.

That's the difference between trashy and classy. Trashing your competitor by making them lovable. Samsung and you do not understand such a subtle sentiment.

That's very true. I can't tell you how often I've been in a business meeting sending a message when a FaceTime message comes in and I can't do both at the same time and I think, "Wow, I need to get a new tablet so I can do several things at the same time."

Oh, wait. I can tell you: never.

This made me laugh so hard. It's so true.

All the platforms have their pros and cons (and in the case of iOS and Android experience).

Some of Samsung's points are valid while others are not, for example, the Surface section where someone uses a mouse instead of touch.

Samsung seems to get desperate. With the Retina iPad now going for $399, who in their right mind would buy a Samsung tablet?

I would although I would look at other tablets first, but then I prefer Android (I've had an ipod touch and iphone in the past and find iOS too limited for my liking).

from all the "anti" apple (although kindle and surface were in there as well) this is the best imo. song seemed a little cye like.

light hearted enough and not condescending. mac v pc like in attitude.

sorry what?

i loved those ads but you are just creating some arbitrary lines here that mean nothing. it was what almost 70 commercials ramming home the same point.

iOS users VASTLY outnumber android users in the business world.

Based on your opinion? http://www.cio.com/article/748138/N...ails_iOS_Dominance_Most_Popular_Business_Apps seems to dispute that assertion.

So obviously businesses find many useful ways to use iOS.

has it come to this that apple "followers" pointing to marketshare? where were you guys in the last two decades?

Minor hardware enhancements?!?! A new processor and better camera that are both optimized to run faster and smoother than the previous version is minor? I suppose you are one of the people that think a phone hasn't changed unless it looks vastly different.

More marketing IMO, like retina and other things they come up with. Did those enhancements make a difference in my use of the phone? Personally for me no, maybe they did for you. Maybe you play high end graphically challenging games on your iphone/ipad, or maybe you hope to run x64 apps in the future, I don't know. But for me the "S" iterations didn't run smoother or faster because the last iteration ran smoothly enough to do exactly what I needed it to do.

so it's "classy" because it agrees with your viewpoint.

As a regular "PC" user and windows user. I was not amused by the portrayal and personification that PC's were, silly, ignorant, overweight, nerdy glasses wearing buffoons. The point of those commercials was to try and get you to identify yourself as one or the other. They wanted you to say "no, i dont want to be that PC guy, nobody wants to look and act like that, I want to be the young cool guy"

the Apple ads were not classy.

These ads aren't classy either.

Any company that needs to "cut off the heads" of their competition to make themselves appear taller is doing it wrong and is not classy.

Apple included, they were just more subtle.

There is a thing or two that an Android tablet does better than Apple. I think a side by side video chat while going through emails and multitasking is a great feature,

But do you really need to see the person during that couple of minutes you are sending that file. If you thought about it, probably not. So that item could be moot

Nah, people using nonsensical terminology like "classy" and "trashy" just doesn't work unless you are trying to sugarcoat the ads. Those are highly subjective terms which each person defines and categorizes differently. Personally I took Apple's comparing a PC user to a fat, stupid, wimpy type of person as very "trashy". Very effective ads, but not "classy" in the least.

I'm not defending Samsung here, but at least the ad was more slanted at trying to portray facts, even though those facts may have been "marketed". They didn't try to humanize the actors, eg making the ipad woman a stupid looking person who couldn't handle multitasking for example.

Apple's commercials are classy, these are trashy. :apple:

These are the same as Apples Mac vs PC add. Pointing out things the other platform can't do, and say their own platform can do those things.

The dig at Surface was just cheap though, make fun of the entire tablet because he'd plugged a bunch of optional extras into it? The irony being Android supports external mice and keyboard, so the guy with the Samsung tab could have been the guy there with a keyboard and mouse, while the iPad or Surface user gloats.

For the love of every one please , stop referring to mac vs PC ads , these are not the same . I genuinely hate samsung but these ads are not that bad. Samsung has products with decent internals , their hardware designs and software are what out me off

This new Samsung ad is exactly the same as the Mac vs PC ad. It isn't insulting the fanbase like last time, they're pointing out stuff the Samsung tablet does that the iPad doesn't. The Mac vs PC ads were just that, point out stuff PC can't do that Mac can, or bad stuff that happens to PC that doesn't happen to Mac.

Lol ok I see your point. I do play a lot of graphically intensive games and I do take A LOT of pictures. 64-bit apps will probably be great but I don't see them really becoming mainstream for a while.

I miss seeing the spoofs where both of them would regularly tell Linux that " nobody cares".

Different strokes for different folks.

Not everyone likes :apple: products. I'm ok with that. I prefer my iPad and iPhone to the Samsung products.

... but does it do the job... ?

I doubt this ad was seriously intended to convert iPad users, or make iPad users happy. My guess is it's to reassure Samsung users - to make them feel like they made the right choice by showing that their tablet is superior to the others. However, that post from an embarrassed Android user makes it seem like they missed the mark - that they are portraying an Android user in a way that Android users don't want to be associated with.

You are all Apple die hards, but the average consumer who is considering the purchase of a laptop is not tied to any one ecosystem and isn't a cheerleader for any single company. These ads are compelling and offer real advantages to using Samsung pads over the competition.

The ads aren't sexy, they aren't emotive, and they aren't aspirational. But they are smart, and they are going to sell a lot of Galaxy tablets. The multitasking features are very well implemented and shows how far behind Apple has fallen in the product space it created.

It has been analyzed to death but why not rehash it. I'll stop when Safari stops getting snappier.

The MVsPC ads worked because the message was clear at the same time as making the "victim" the subject of empathy.

The difference is Apple has NEVER done an ad against Samsung. Samsung keeps attacking Apple over and over and it's getting pretty tired along with showing their desperation. If any company is more inline with going against Apple in advertisements it's Microsoft.....but Microsoft's ads are so ghetto they should never do another one.

Um, Apple has never attacked Samsung in ads.
