the words in the quotations marks are there because some people on overreact like little children.

I do know you're just as condescending as many others here so that's all I need to understand. Read your own posts. You using the term "You Guys" when describing the Mac community and Marketshare doesn't sound much like you're a Mac user. ;)

Where can you get the iPad Air for that price?

FYI

Apple killed the 399 Ipad2 quietly this week and have replaced it by bringing back the Ipad 4 at the same pricepoint.

(your own local price may vary though).

All full size ipads now are retina.

Remember the Mac vs PC ads? Same thing.

Also, competition is good, people. Apple has more reason to innovate/produce better products when they have competitors doing things (ex. here's hoping the next iPad can have two apps side by side).

He said that Apple ads are classy

If they dropped the click bait they would go broke.

It's so annoying though because the comments are always the same. Samsung bashers, Samsung defenders and a whole bunch of Mac vs PC comments as if people posting here didn't didn't know those ads existed, or that it makes sense to compare something Apple did 4 years ago to something competitors are doing today.

if we didnt follow the routine.. what would we have to talk about?

how was your evening?

Apple vs PC
Samsung vs Apple
Ford vs Dodge (or car vs car)
Coke vs Pepsi
FedEx vs UPS
Miracle Whip vs Mayo
Beer vs Beer
And so on....

I don't understand why everyone gets their panties in a bunch over these ads. When you have competition in your industry this is pretty much the norm. Sometimes we see ads featuring the product itself, other times we see the product pitted up against their competition. This has nothing to do with class/trash. This is how you explain the differences. As a loyal Apple user (multiple versions over the years but always have a current or close to current MBP, iPad, iPhone, iMac) I enjoy these ads and can see the humor in them. Does it get me to ever want to jump ship? Not really but it does remind me of some of the shortcomings of Apple products. Also when Apple posts a new ad it reminds me why I use Apple.

Do these type of ads work? YES! As a long time PC based Systems Engineer and Network Administrator I HATED the Apple vs PC ads. The PC guy did not represent myself or my other co-workers in the industry. BUT..... One day I'm screaming at my PC. It's running like a slug, bloated and need a fresh install to get rid of junk I had installed/uninstalled. All the sudden there is a Apple vs PC ad on the TV. PC comes in all bloated, fat and slow complaining about what I was going through. That was the moment I said "screw it! I'm trying out a mac!" I did and haven't looked back since. I still have a Windows box running and dual boot my MBP but I'm an Apple guy now. Every once in a while a Samsung ad gets me and I look in to getting something Android to play with. Had a Galaxy S4 for a bit and LOVED the screen and size but it just wasn't for me. Why did I try it? These type of commercials strike a cord with Apples short comings. But in the end there are other reasons I use an iPhone.

But do you really need to see the person during that couple of minutes you are sending that file. If you thought about it, probably not. So that item could be moot

See them? No. But it might be handy to not have to exit out of the video chat completely while teferring to the document.

I can't imagine there's a discernible difference between a 2048 x 1536 resolution and a 2560 x 1600 resolution. At least not to the average consumer.

This hurts... I love Apple, (should I say want to love?)... but I can't fault Samsung for advertising what makes them better.

I wish I could respond with, "well, the Pro actually sucks and Apple is awesome because..." but that would be a lie.

Samsung is picking up where Apple stopped... I can't fault them for continuing to innovate (and show the innovation in a new product) when all Apple is doing is rereleasing the same one products again.

Maybe Apple should take note.

I too love Apple, and true you can't fault Samsung for advertising what they feel makes them better.

I'm just not sure of when you mention Samsung is innovating where Apple has stopped? True Apple has not come out with a different kind of flying car every other day, but no one else has either? That Samsung brings out larger and larger screens, more and more pixels (when apparently we are told, after a certain amount the human eye can no longer distinguish the difference), that to me is not innovation? Maybe i'm wrong about that though?

From interviews we've seen from Apple staff (Sir Ive's, etc.) it would seem (although this I have no facts to back up, just my personal thoughts) that Apple is familiar with Multitasking and know very well how to do it (if you look at the Macs they've been doing it for a while and really well), but if the experience is going to take away from the overall, so for instance, the battery life will only last 2 hours when multitasking, then Apple won't do it until they figure out a better way? Again, this is just my speculation.

And although it's not the next flying car, the touch sensor on the 5S, the 64 bit processor, the new Mac Pro, they're not terrible either?

SDOme of us... actually do use Apple products regularly.

I have a macbook air. I use OSX on my hackintosh nearly exclusively. I would seriously consider buying more Mac products if they actually made more that fit my needs.
I have purchased multiple iPads over the years as gifts for family and friends, and would whole heartedly recommend them.

But I don't for a second believe that Apple is some innocent godsent company that can do no wrong.

I have every right to be on this site to discuss my opinions of the matter, as does everyone else. From a corporate and business side, Apple is not some angel and have very many business practices that are questionable in ethics, and legality.

It is being completely blind to them which makes us mock those who believe in the reality distortion field that Apple portrays, that makes us call out the "fanboys"

Uh, excuse me. Did I reply to a post of yours saying that you should be interviewed before posting here? NO. And you're best at not bothering to include a Hackintosh as part of you being an Apple product user. You don't win any points with that.

Which current Apple ad does that?

One of the things I think that Tim Cook does a lot better than Steve Jobs was this sort of behaviour.

I can't think of an Apple ad that is out now that does behave this way. Under Jobs though, he was very quick to pull up his competitions name and drag them through the mud during keynotes and speeches. He Loved putting up slides showing the competition and outright calling them out, (sometimes even lying in doing so).

Tim Cook doesn't seem to be like that. And I applaud him for it.

you need to stop speaking as you are one of those people who give real Apple fans the bad name.

you posted in a public forum and if you dont want the public to respond, stay silent

I agree. Of course its not easier to make the ipad thinner etc, but other than the weight reductions and the retina display (a big thing obviously), there is little reason to justify upgrading from my ipad 2, there isn't actually very much that an ipad air can do much better than my 2, not that i can see anyway, other than being a bit faster. Give me some real multitasking and maybe I'll change my tune

you guys in reply to those two i was quoting. are you looking to be agitated?

and if you were a mac user back in the day you should understand the marketshare point.

Anyone who thinks Apple is going to change their game over an ad doesn't understand Apple, or how ads work.

Ads like this don't make Apple need to "compete" more, only shifts in the market do (which these ads will not cause), and rarely does Apple respond to the market.

Their first and foremost competitor is Apple themselves.

Comparing a tablet to a kindle?

A computer... to an ebook reader.

They're different products. This makes 0 sense.

And aren't there some Kindle's that actually CAN browse the web and act like a regular tablet?

And I believe the windows tablet you can actually use it without a mouse and external keyboard?

Agreed, they pick and choose they're battles!

Where can you get the iPad Air for that price?

I wouldn't know. I said you can get a Retina iPad for $399. I didn't say, but say it now, that Samsung doesn't have anything coming close for $399. Can't quite figure out why you are asking about the iPad Air though.

With all of the half-witted puns people use to distort the name Microsoft, I'm surprised no one has yet called them Samsmug.

But, to be honest, I didn't read all of the posts.
