That's actually really cool of Samsung. I'd say a free $250 for their store is more than enough of a sorry for the troubled launch.
Even better is knowing you dodged a bullet on this one.
You’d have to be stinking rich to want this now that there’s been so much drama.
That fold crease is gonna be problematic in the future.

Awesome to give them credit, where credit is due...
Maybe with a little luck the new phones Apple will announce this month will get delayed until February, but Apple will cancel everyone’s pre-orders at the last minute... & offer some iTunes gift cards as a “sorry for the 5 month hold on your credit card, or just keeping the money you paid through PayPal, for 5 months”, then you can come back here and tell everyone how “really cool” Apple is too!

FYI - More trailblazers were bear snacks than innovators.

Sometimes when a company sends out more bear snacks than getting new trails in return, it’s less trailblazing organization and more of a large predatory wildlife feeding services industry.

Thereby making the bears too slow and lazy to do their jobs thinning out the lesser flora and fauna, while also making lots of useless, crappy, bear-infested paths.
Jesus Christ, you lost me with that analogy.

A lot of assumptions on you part. The reality is that Samsung confirmed customers weren't charged for the Galaxy Fold if they pre-ordered with a credit or debit card. However, if they used PayPal, they will be refunded. Plus, all customers who had their pre-orders canceled will receive a $250 credit that can be used on Samsung's site.
Most likely not that many people used PayPal but $250 sounds like a reasonable compensation for this inconvenience.

For $250 you can buy yourself 5 x $50 Samsung phones and if they break you have plenty of spares.
Actually for around 250$ the Galaxy A50 is a very decent phone.

I don't understand why you keep insisting with 50$ Android or Samsung phones. I've never seen anybody interested in such phones other than people that only wanted to make phone calls.

I wonder how much value this phone will have lost in a year probably £1500. At least you can get a decent price for Apple phones when you sell them. I’ve never had a Samsung phone that didn’t have a fault - never again. I’ve had every iPhone every year since day one and never had a problem with any of them.

So people who pre-ordered it have the ability to get it for $250 off if they chose to re-order it and use the credit they received from their intial pre-order? Not a bad deal.
Fool me once, shame on you...

What you are trying to imply?
Apple will only launch an improved version of last year's Xs and Xs Max, not something that will create a new product category.

That crease on the screen where it folds would annoy the hell out of me. I'm gonna say it anyway, but this looks like a product prototype, rather than a finished product that's for public release.

Same thing with Apple's notch. The fact they're reusing it for another year without any reduction shows their contempt for their customers as well as their technical incompetence.

So we are going to cancel your preorder so you can then preorder. But this preorder comes with "services" so we can charge you even more. But here is $250 so you can give us the $250 back plus more.

I'm actually confused by why Samsung cancelled it. So pre-orders before would have meant just being sent the device, but now new preorders will get a 'customer experience.' What is that?

The cynic inside me says that it will involve close contact with Samsung initially for a small number of users that sign an NDA so they can run further field-testing and not report to the media that their device broke - until samsung get it right.

Best fold phone ever (LOL).
I'm the only one that think that Samsung lost a lot of mobile phone market recently ?

Yes. S10 and Note 10 are killing it. Meanwhile Apple is sending back screens because it can't move its flagships and the new event is expected to be so dull Tim is padding it with B list celebrity appearances.

that's a straight out admission of guilt. If they where legit about fixing this, they would offer a refund. Users should have an option to go to another solution.
Apple have a patent for a foldable phone, they probably never will release it for this very reason.

Refund what? No one was charged. The $250 is a gift for disappointing people and wasting their time.

The problem I have with this Foldable phone is... at £1900 UK price I could have an iPhone XS and a iPad Pro 11inch. I'd have two devices that are a whole lot more usable for there given job... Apple Pencil etc for drawing and a great phone.

I also don't really want an extra thick phone for the few times I want to use a small tablet when walking around. In the office, home or studio I'd have the iPad Pro to hand or MacBook Pro & Mac Pro. It feels like a gimmick, a solution looking for a problem.

They took money for a wireless charging AirPods case with a picture of AirPower on the box

Wow...... that’s a stretch even for the most partisan among us.

Apple put an image of their vaporware on a packaging of another product. So I’m going to stretch that to mean they took preorders of the vaporware.

Did your muscles hurt after all that stretching?
