Article one doesn’t mention switchers, but an overall growing market that is in developing nations.
The second article is a joke, right? Did you even read it?
The third is from Kantar, so basically more guesses.

Do you have any actual evidence that there aren’t more switchers to iPhone from Android?
I just posted the first couple of articles that popped up in the results. I only glanced over the numerical figures, which seem to be consistent with the other sites.

But to answer your question, no I don't have any actual evidence besides one market growing, and the other falling. Do you have any actual evidence to support your claim? If your claim is true, I'm pretty sure it would be due to Apple relating a new device. Besides that, on a year to year basis, Android is becoming bigger and bigger.

Android is becoming bigger and bigger because the pie overall is becoming bigger and bigger.

I am an iPhone user forever, but I have to say this is quite accurate... although many of the extreme fanboys disagree.

So you said my links are no beuno, but the title of your link is "Apple's iOS Loyalty Rate Is Lower Than Google's Android, But Apple May Steal More Users Each Year" May? Maybe? Perhaps? Possibly?
The survey was a small sample size of 500 people, and the switchers data is a guess. But lets say the information is correct. It would still mean that Android will be taking even more of the marketshare, while Apple would be loosing marketshare.

And how does that disprove my point about the notch haircut being a jab at the phone and not the customer? Does anyone here think Apple customers get notch haircut’s? I’m just going to go ahead and say no. So if that’s the case, why it is it a jab at the customer?

There are plenty of Mac vs. PC ads that personify software/hardware issue, such as the PC guy coughing to personify a virus, or being excessively bloated to personify bloatware. This is the exact same thing.
The stereotype is that Apple customers are fanatical and devotional to Apple so they would get stupid notch haircuts. The PC guy is fun and likable. No one thinks the notch haircut guy is fun, he is scary and threatening. One joke is laughing at the customer and one is laughing with the customer.

That’s the problem. Nothing the galaxy phone has really appeals to iPhone users and Samsung knows it.

That’s the thing. The users in the Apple ecosystem would by this time already be largely self-selecting. They are iPhone users because they value the unique advantages the platform has to offer. If they wanted the aforementioned features, then why are they still using an iPhone? Why haven’t they migrated over to an android phone?

In short, the key features which make android phones uniquely android, iOS users by and large don’t care for them. And Samsung knows it.

While there are people like yourself that would buy anything Apple makes, just because its Apple, you need to come to the realization that not everyone thinks like this. I was at one point using nearly everything Apple makes. Now I'm using nothing Apple makes. I buy what works for my needs, and expect that most people do the same. I may buy Apple again in the future, but its up to them to produce something I want to buy. Based on their current direct, I don't see that happening any time soon.

What you see is as the wonderful Apple ecosystem, I see as a company that is locking me into something that allows them to be mediocre and still get my money because I'm trapped with no choices. The products I'm currently using, for the most part, don't have equivalents in the Apple ecosystem - Surface Pro, Note 8, etc..

Back to the point of the thread... the ad is targeting a lot of people out there that still have aging iPhones and aren't happy with the current crop of iPhones. That is precisely where I was, and I switched, and I'm quite happy with the switch. That ad will appeal to the target audience, but as evident in this thread, not to people that are huge Apple fans.

Just find it absolutely hilarious how some Apple fans get so butthurt over Samsung’s ads. I love a good troll job. Kudos, Sammy
It's certainly interesting how much overzealous commentary there is in threads like this from some of those who dislike Apple in one fashion or another.

I buy Apple products because they are what work best for me, given my use cases.

And as I have pointed out - the ad doesn't really make a compelling case for why I might want to opt for a Samsung phone over the latest iPhone X or 8+. What exactly am I unhappy about the latest iPhones that is addressed by the S9, and which an iOS user might specifically want?

Nothing unique about the S9, and I am guessing that Samsung also realises that there isn't really anything special about the S9 that they can use in their marketing material, except the throttling issue which has already been addressed at the time of the commercial's airing (you are allowed to turn off the throttling, and Apple stores are offering battery replacements, which is conveniently omitted), which I suppose is why they had to put the disclaimer about the phone running on older software.

If it's speed, sure, the S9 is fast (as it should be, given that it was just recently released), but the iphone X and 8+ are no slouches as well. Everything else, what the S9 can do, the latest iPhones can also match blow for blow, if not better.

I know why the advertisement was put together and who it is being targetted at. It still doesn't change the fact that it's a very bad and cringe-inducing commercial overall and I doubt it's going to have anywhere near the impact Samsung is hoping it will have.

So why are you here? I mean, if your life of bigger resolutions and ram capacities is so much better, why do you have to come here and tell people that are usually perfectly happy with what they’ve bought how crap their purchase decision was? I don’t get it. You haven’t contributed anything positive to the forum. It’s troll post after troll post, knocking peoples opinions and always claiming to be right. Why don’t you go over to Samsung Central or what ever it is and talk about your amazing device with people that actually care?!
So this is supposed to be the "we are special Apple costumers" playground? No outsiders allowed aka people who reveal Apple's wrong choices throughout the years? Are we supposed to worship Apple in every way possible here?

I think what Samsung is trying to say is:

1. If you buy a new iPhone, it will be slowed down after every iOS upgrade.
2. The notch is something to make fun of, S9 has no notch.

You are free to buy whatever you want. As a teacher, you have a different set of use cases than the majority of people. In a recent post, you said something about Excel not being that important. There is not a single colleague in any organization I've worked for (or with), over about 35 years in business, that would agree with that statement.

Not meaning to pick on you, but you come across as someone that would talk yourself into justifying anything Apple does or doesn't do. I don't think I've ever seen you acknowledge anything negative about Apple. You have said several times in this thread that there is nothing about an Android phone that is an advantage, which is clearly not true. You may not care about those things, but to say something like that ruins your credibility. There are many things that I can do on my phone that you can't do on an iPhone. I'm not going to bother listing them here because I've done so in other threads. There are pros and cons on both sides, but you seem to only see pros for Apple. So its not surprising that you don't "get" the ad, or think its "very bad and cringe-inducing". For the people they are trying to reach, it is neither of those things.

I actually love Apple and have a crap load of their stuff. Buuuut folks getting so offended by an ad (especially when Apple is no stranger to doing such a thing to the likes of Microsoft) is absolutely hilarious to me

I was simply pointing out that it seems to be working in a similar fashion in either direction.

Pretty unfair comparison... shady. Apple Legal surely is on it...

If you mean making an iPhone look slower than it is, it's interesting that Apple got in trouble back when it tried to depict its iPhone 3G as faster than it actually was.

An Apple iPhone advert has been banned by the advertising standards watchdog for exaggerating the phone's speed.

The stereotype is that Apple customers are fanatical and devotional to Apple so they would get stupid notch haircuts.

I would suspect that only fanatical Apple customers likely even notice the haircut, much less take offense at it.

All my family and friends with iPhones don't care.

I wasn’t talking marketshare, weirdly enough.

No one thinks the notch haircut guy is fun? I think it’s hilarious as do others on this thread, so there goes that theory. I can’t believe anyone would think he’s scary or threatening but whatever suits you.

There's a difference between scary or threatening and basically a poke at what can be best described as a "fanboy" with all that it comes with.

Well none of those are my words, they are words of other posters so I’m not quite sure what your point is.

Pointing out that that there other perfectly valid and reasonable takes on it where things aren't in a positive light (hard to say if something might be "threatening" there, but it wouldn't be a stretch to see it as something like "creepy").

I never said it wasn't a positive take, because, as I stated at least once, I feel like the notch haircut is personifying a jab at the hardware. If others want to feel like its mocking or a jab at an Apple customer, that's on them. I don't feel that way and am sharing a different perspective.

It's one thing to share a different perspective, it's another thing to (directly or indirectly) question and in a sense undermine other perspectives.

I didn’t say you weren’t allowed to laugh at him. But you have to admit you’re only laughing at him because he represents the stereotypical Apple fanboy. Why else would you be laughing at him?

Fair enough but companies don’t spend millions on national commercial campaigns just so that a small contingent only notice.

I felt like I’ve said this a bunch of times but here we go again. I took the notch haircut as a personification of the notch design, which, to me, was a jab at the device. Just like an excessively bloated PC guy being a jab at PC bloatware. So no, I won’t admit that I’m laughing because he represents a “stereotypical Apple fanboy” because that’s not at all how I took that part of the commercial. Got it?

Since when aren’t you allowed to question someone’s perspective on Macrumors? If they updated their policies I must have missed that part.
