You should look at the note. It is something that combines a tablet and a phone.

One of the biggest short comings of tablets right now is the lack of being able to use a stylus. For many things I would love to have one. Big time for taking notes or writing things down. In those things a stylus is just by far better. For basic navigation yeah the finger is great.

From the look if the device all I see is a copy of the Palm Pilot.

I owned a Samsung Galaxy S before my iPhone 4S and it crashed like crazy, Samsung was always extremely late with updating Android and it had major GPS problems that Samsung acknowledged and took their time to fix.

I do enjoy Android, but Samsung is alienating itself from actual iPhone users to purchase their products if they ever consider trying an Android phone. As someone said above, "How many people are standing in line for their products? ". Yeah, exactly.

Oh, and that stylus might've worked in the early 90's. No thanks.

I think Samsung is more like stereotyping Android fanboys than iPhone users standing in line.

One of the worst commercials ever

Who gets paid to come up with such crap? The more they focus on Apple the more people subconsciously realize that Apple is the leader. I am so sick of cell phone and car commercials.

I think everyone knows that already, but I suppose the rip off is because the UI during the ad looked so much like something Apple would've done.
Sadly I would not say that is the case. It more if Apple did it then everyone else copies it. Even if Apple released it much much later.

Apple ads are the best because they show the actual product working, not some people dancing saying how "cool" it is.

The only thing I saw in this ad is a stylus (seriously?) and a FaceTime rip-off.

No offense, but remember the Mac vs PC ads?

But seriously guys. A pen? Really? I wasn't watching the game but my twitter feed went wild when the Samsung ad aired. I have iPhone users and Android users on my stream, both groups thought it was a huge joke.

Gah, the cheesiness in that commercial made me gag. And here's how low my standards are: I actually love that song.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Apple did have a commercial. Find footage of the entrance of the Lombardi trophy at the end of the game during the trophy ceremony and you'll see what I mean. I counted 7-9 iPhones in the hands of players and on-field personels as the trophy entered the field. Compared to one Droid and what appears to be one Blackberry. Seems like a good enough depiction of the consumer interest. The best ad is to have the entire Superbowl winning team using their iPhones during the entrance of their trophy. The Company that spawned the Super Bowl commercial era was not out done this year again. Awesome.

I've never seen that many people run down fences to use a phone with a stylus in my entire life.

#OccupyStylusTechnology?

Curious. What happens if I'm writing on the tablet with a stylus and my palm or finger is also touching the screen?

Depends on the app really. If designed right the App would ingore your finger input and assume it was unintentional. There are a few apps out there that use the wanna be stylus on the iPad that do that. Wanna be in the fact that it has to deal with limitation put in by Apple on the threshold of the size of a touch as everything else is tossed out as noise. I want to say the thresh hold is 30 pixels diameter.

Ha! I'm sure Samsung would love to believe in this reality. I am also sure Samsung poking fun at the Apple customers would totally win them over

But were you really offended by this? I'd say everyone except the die-hard Apple fans didn't feel insulted, maybe just a little displeased. Samsung knows it can't win over the die-hard fans so its ads are most likely for the people that buy Apple products just because everyone else does or casual Apple fans. To me, it seemed like an interesting ad and made Samsung seem lively while Apple appeared dull (just from a purely emotional perspective while watching the video). It certainly piqued my interest at Samsung's products. Not a bad ad from an marketing standpoint IMO...

If have to attack a competitor's product, they blew it!

Apple did it too with Mac vs PC commercials. And I'd say "attack" is too strong of a verb here and leads to incorrect inferences based on connotations. It may be just me, but highlighting how your product is better than a competitor's seems logical if you want to win over their customers.

Wow

I had my credit card out, and then I thought, wait, that's still Android. Listen, you can rent a hooker, you can rent an evening gown, you can put the hooker in the evening gown and take her to a nice restaurant. In the end, it's still a rented chick in a cheap suit and no matter how many people like to look at her she's still icky to touch.

But I just bought the Galaxy S2 Samsung was convincing me to switch to a few weeks ago, now I don't have an iPhone or a pen :/

All fanboi aside

The note is going to be too big as a phone for me, but damn it's a nice idea and packed with features. I miss the I'm a mac commercials.

After watching the new Samsung advert that pokes fun at Apple Customers for camping out

As much as I like Brian Urlacher, Santa in the Siri ad > Urlacher in the Samsung Galaxy Note ad. :):apple:

I don't have anything against styluses; back in the day they were pretty neat for PDAs...but today is not back then (clearly).

I don't see it as a marketing point, especially to the mass consumer. Also trying to make yourself the "next Apple" in sorts isn't going to work as well since Samsung lacks the whole halo effect, cult personality, etc. Whenever I use a Samsung device I don't get the perception of brand, just a nice individual device, whereas Apple does quite well in this area.

You mst be new to Apple products

Insult your competitor's customers. That will get them to switch!

Obviously your new to technology or you would have remembered the incredibly successful Get a Mac commercials showing windows as un cool. Check out youtube, newbie.

A pen? If you really want one, you can buy one for any smart phone, wtf? Samsung is desperate.
