You mean like Apple did in the lemmings ad:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYP1Tjgt1Ao
Which apple hated because it insulted the customer. They ran it at the insistence of the ad agency. Everyone thought it was a crap ad and it was. Same thing here.

Again, platform. Not the user.

Or, one could even argue, the 1984 ad:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8

Competitor's platform. Not the user.

You guys are making the same mistake that Samsung did in not understanding how to point out your competitor's deficiencies without insulting its users.

Sad

You have to be really desperate, when your commercial is about making fun of the customers of your competitors.

But I guess we can't expect anything more from Samsung anyway.

Here's a slogan for you Samsung:
Zero creativity.

But were you really offended by this? I'd say everyone except the die-hard Apple fans didn't feel insulted, maybe just a little displeased. Samsung knows it can't win over the die-hard fans so its ads are most likely for the people that buy Apple products just because everyone else does or casual Apple fans. To me, it seemed like an interesting ad and made Samsung seem lively while Apple appeared dull (just from a purely emotional perspective while watching the video). It certainly piqued my interest at Samsung's products. Not a bad ad from an marketing standpoint IMO...

Who is Samsung targeting with these ads, the non Apple folks? In that case wouldn't it be better to focus on how great and desirable their own product is and how happy their own customers are with it rather than portray the Apple customers as "mindless zombies who are waiting in line for Apple products in spite of themselves". It is a terrible ad from a marketing standpoint because it doesn't stand to win their target audience (i.e. their competitor's customers) but merely put them off or upset/anger them.

Apple did it too with Mac vs PC commercials. And I'd say "attack" is too strong of a verb here and leads to incorrect inferences based on connotations. It may be just me, but highlighting how your product is better than a competitor's seems logical if you want to win over their customers.
The "Mac vs. PC" ads never made fun of the "PC" users (i.e. the audience Apple was trying to win over). Even when poking fun at the "PC", they did it in a friendly, as if they felt sorry for the "inferior" "PC", way. With all their aggressive marketing, never did Apple poke fun at the "PC" user or portray them in negative light. If Samsung wanted to successfully mirror Apple's past marketing campaign, they have failed with this one here.

I know I'm gonna get pounced on by fan boys but this commercial is so true. I live in NYC and saw lines several city blocks long for the iPhone 4s at several locations.

The Galaxy line are better products in my opinion, have cheaper plans, Flash and the freedom to put whatever you want on it.

The stylus is a definite plus not to mention it is 4g which was a shocking omission from the iPhone.

I know lots of people that will only buy Apple because its Apple. Which is fine. I used to be one of them.

Just going to point out FaceTime rip off of other products. Android already had video chatting before facetime. Just figure I would point that out to you.

Don't say anything positive about anyone but Apple, or face the wrath of everyone on here and LTD.

So sick and tired of the singing and dancing American Idol/Glee-esque crap of the world in commercials and tv shows. It's like humanity has collectively gone on a booze and coke binge over the past 10 years.

I know they are there but they are what I could call a wanna styli device. They have to deal with the limitation of iOS and what it tosses out as noise. It makes them more like a marker than a pen.

It would require Apple to put in some changes in iOS and allow a developer to override the default settings on what is tossed out as noise.

Android doesn't have stylus support either, what Samsung is doing with the Note doesn't work system wide but only with a handful of apps. There are plenty of equivalent options for iOS devices (e.g. Cregle iPen and the likes) that have a cursor and good palm rejection and that work with popular apps like Penultimate, etc..

It was funny enough and in good humor.

Apple can do one that shows a bunch of people waiting in line for an iPhone and across the street at the other store there are big signs but no line,...something like that.

The best commercial was Clint Eastwood's for Chrysler, Made in Detroit. Very powerful. The China thing is going to bite Apple some time.

Apple makes commercial showing the value of the product. Samsung makes commercial showing people singing and dancing. Fail.

Wow, a stylus! Haven't seen innovation like that since the Palm Pilot!

Seriously, people, it's a commercial. Don't get all worked up about it. Remember in the 90's when Apple aired commercials, humorously showing how the Macintosh was superior to the Windows PC? Remember the Get A Mac ads? This ad is pretty much like those previous Apple ads.

Apple did have a commercial. Find footage of the entrance of the Lombardi trophy at the end of the game during the trophy ceremony and you'll see what I mean. I counted 7-9 iPhones in the hands of players and on-field personels as the trophy entered the field. Compared to one Droid and what appears to be one Blackberry. Seems like a good enough depiction of the consumer interest. The best ad is to have the entire Superbowl winning team using their iPhones during the entrance of their trophy. The Company that spawned the Super Bowl commercial era was not out done this year again. Awesome.

This. I remember someone had a white iPhone 4/4S with a black bumper. It looked like mine.

Insulting

Apple must be behind these ads... Because of this advertising campaign I will never even CONSIDER buying a samsung...

I have a stylus therefore that makes me better than you???????? U should be ashamed of ur selves Samsung

I actually want a Samsung Galaxy Note. Those things are cool! I always thought that styluses are more sophisticated than using your hands.

It was an entertaining commercial and I don't understand why so many people here act so hurt. Most apple people won't change but others without a smartphone or who have older android phones will change to the Galaxy Note.

It was a good break from all those beer commercials. I couldn't believe how a GE commercial ends up being beer commercial.

P.S: The best part of the samsung commercial was Miranda Kerr

That proves nothing :) It just proves that iPhone owners like to show their phones off.
