Oh Samsung. Just change your name to "We Want to be Apple" already.
Their next watch seriously looks like a round Apple Watch ripoff.

For all those who are jealous, marveling, and/or wondering about the mst/loop pay/new feature on samsung pay equipped phones. I am pretty sure this will be obsolete very quickly.

http://www.emv-connection.com/minimum-emv-chip-card-and-terminal-requirements-u-s/

the above link refers to the upcoming "liability shift" that faces retailers. Starting October 2015, any non chip and pin or nfc transaction that is fraudulent, the retailer is responsible for the fraud not the CC company. so any pure or sole transaction that relies on a mag stripe swipe only will quickly become difficult at most retailers.

So unless i'm missing something and this technology 1) emulates the chip information too, 2) the mag reader can receive that emulation etc....samsung pay using the mst tech will go unused here in the US at least very very quickly.

maybe i'm wrong, but that is how i understand the nature to the liability shift and mag swipe transactions starting next month....

The way SamsungPay works looks good, wonder why Apple didn't implement that, old technology mayhaps?

Also, try to say "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus" five times.
$1000 bucks says Apple didn't use "Secure Magnetic Whatever" because it's not as secure as their version of NFC.

Also, they have a proud history of pushing tech forward by vociferously dropping support for old, legacy standards (floppies, Flash, Blue Ray, 30 Pin connectors, the list goes on and on...)

Gotta love the "only a slight RAM increase from 3GB"...

Meanwhile we've been stuck on 1GB in iOS land for 2+ years...

You should see how poorly it manages RAM, though. I was going to switch to the S6 and returned it the next day. Touchwiz is still a terrible version of Android, in my opinion. I barely had anything running and was still somehow using 70-85% of my RAM up at all times. Sure, you can use their "Smart Manager" and other programs to clean up the RAM and clear all those unnecessary background processes, but 5 minutes later they'll all be running again.

Note 5
http://www.engadget.com/2015/08/13/samsung-galaxy-note-5-hands-on-preview/

$250 on contract for the 32GB model and $350 on contract for the 64GB model
$700-$740 and $815-$840 if buying outright

S6 Edge+
http://www.engadget.com/2015/08/13/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-plus-hands-on-preview/

$200 on contract for the 32GB model and $300 on contract for the 64GB model
$792-$815 and $888-$915 if buying outright

Pricing has still yet to be announced for the 128GB models.

Surprised US Cellular has the Note 5 priced cheaper than the Edge+: $199 & $299

SAMSUNG SHOULD CHANGE THEIR NAME TO XEROX! Copy the copy company, and really "own" what they do best: copying! The best part is they wouldn't need to buy the rights or license the name, because that's just not how they roll, baby! Just change their letterhead and don't look back!

Seriously, that keyboard is a complete and utter ripoff of Ryan Seacrest's "Typo" add-on keyboard for iPhones that got nixed by Blackberry! It's beyond shameless, and yet even though the heavy lifting of INVENTING the idea was already done, they spent none of the extra time they were afforded to refine it and make it look like it actually came from Samsung and was meant for that phone.

They did such a good job of copying an aftermarket product that they were able to make a genuine Samsung Galaxy accessory look like it was made by someone else.

Authentically un-original!

Very ironic you mentioned Xerox.

While I don't find it aesthetically appealing, it would be cool if the lettering on the keys was translucent in such a way that the screen beneath could act as a backlight.

Samsung Pay seems to be a bigger threat to Google than anyone else. How can they ever hope to mainstream their mobile payment system when their single largest OEM has its own competing system?

Samsung is slowly digging their own grave. They had a chance to add these things, but still no SD card slot, still no removable battery, and still smaller battery, all at higher prices.

Powerusers: "Please do not remove these features like in the S6 because we use them."
Samsung: "Ok, we will remove them and add them back for next year."

I think everyone is running into physics here. Give us bigger battery but want it removable and waste 3-4mm of space for connectors. Give us SD card slot, but keep the phone thin and light... while SD card slot further takes a 6mm^2 x 1mm thickness.

You want fat brick phone with SD card, and a removable huge battery. But then you'll complain it's too big and heavy, we want smaller. Make up your mind.

Why aren't you crying over apple not having an SD card?

According to Engadget's preview, Samsung is copying that last feature as well. Touchwiz is becoming less and less intrusive in each new iteration. Eventually it'll become so streamlined that it'll disappear entirely, leaving users with a pure Android experience!

I'm evaluating a s6 edge right now, and I have to admit, they did an awesome job with it. The carrier crap should be removed by default, and a lot of the "value" addons need to be removed immediately. Having the option to just disable is not enough, should be completely uninstallable.

But the interface itself is very nice, feels like a native android experience (I have a MotoX on the side too). I'm not big on "consumer features", but I actually kind of like the theming options available for touchwiz. And no annoying feature that can't be disabled.

So far my only gripe is why is the back button on the right side and not the left side like every other phone in the entire world (windows included).

Doesn't make a difference. Once retailers change to chip only, just use the regular NFC on the phone. Not like you have to do anything special.

I realize that and am not saying Samsung pay as a service doesn't have a chance or can continue to work.

What I was referring to were some of the oooh's and ahhhh's about how a magnetic stripe emulator has been worked into the hardware.

While a great tech, it will be forced into obsolescence by the industry as they begin to phase out magnetic stripe transactions in about 2 weeks.

It really makes it a non starter as a feature and puzzling why Samsung spent so much to acquire it so recently. It'd be like buying a gasoline car 6 months before they stop selling gasoline nationwide.

So I agree. Samsung pay will keep moving forward as a nfc system but it's mst component is dead on release. At least in North America and most likely Europe too. Idk what markets will willingly and broadly accept mag stripe transactions by 2016?

lol!! I don't think most people know. I think you have to be Y generation to know the story.
Even people of the "Y generation" often don't know the whole story:

As you can see, the PARC operating system still relied heavily on keyboard input.

Now compare it with the first version of Mac OS:

Apple eliminated all the special keyboard keys by introducing fundamental concepts like drag-and-drop and the menu bar.
