Nice phone, but Samsung should really consider lowering the price. $1250? They just don’t understand that the only way to compete with Apple is by offering a flagship for lower price than iPhone. Android users are not as loyal as iPhone users. There are so many great Android choices right now and the Samsung is the most expensive, why would you really buy it?

You know, average customer who has $1000+ for a phone is most likely buying an iPhone, because it's iPhone. The Android users are the mostly the people who find iPhone overpriced, so they are buying cheaper phones with flagship specs. I don't see this being a huge hit. For $700-850 it could be.

Note users are pretty loyal to the Note (see all the Note 7 users who held on to their FIRE HAZARD even though they were being recalled).

Nothing else is quite like it in the Android world. Unfortunately, that is a very small audience. I wouldn't use another Android device besides the Note series.

PS - who in Heavens uses pen on a large phone except baristas when they take your order??...???
I use the pen pretty much everyday.
From cropping and editing photos to taking quick notes.
I also like it for annotating a screenshot.
It's faster for me to simply pop out the pen and start writing (no need to unlock the phone).

Nearing perfection each iteration. I have Note 8 don't see the need for upgrade. Great phone though. It gets price reduced in my place, better wait for few months. Don't need to rush first.

512GB damn

Wonder if the new iPhone gets it
I hate to admit it, but my 256 GB iPhone is filling up (I got the warning from the OS). In my case photos constitute the largest chunk (incl. 36 MP images synced via Photos on the Mac). Does the iPhone get raw files via iCloud Photo Library if they in the Mac Photos library?

I guess that's one reason not buy it.
Just a slap in the face for those who kept claiming Samsung copies Apple all the time. Samsung should patent the notchless design and the headphone jack.

At this point it’s difficult to tell the iPhone X apart from all the clones with notches while Samsung is setting themselves apart

I guess Apple is all about compromise... battery vs thinness, no Touch ID, no headphone jack, etc

Personally I won’t compromise. :p
Face ID is better than Touch ID, wait couple of years every phone will have Face ID in place of Touch ID, they are waiting for technology to become cheaper, let Apple make it cheaper by paying $$$, then other will follow.

Someone please educate me: does this cooling system actually mean there’s liquid somewhere inside the phone?

I've been doing this for a couple of years, but you have to get a lightning to HDMI adapter.
Very handy.
It’s not the same. Connecting your iPhone to your TV is just mirroring what’s on the screen to a larger display.
DeX is an entirely different interface and uses apps which are optimised for a larger display. You can have multiple windows open at the same time and you can also use an external keyboard and mouse so it’s likw a real desktop experience.

Pretty much. Just like the SUPER RETINA HD DISPLAY also known as AMOLED aka OLED.

Or Retina Display as in the human eye cannot discern more than 350 pixels per inch lol. I remember that like yesterday and think FOS (full of shiiizzznit).

So, the US *IS* getting the 512GB version. Add the PNY 512GB microSD card, and that's 1TB of storage. On your phone.

Sheeee--iittttt!.

Unless Dex and Samsung fully support your choice of Linux in Dex what’s the point? More local storage which will be lost in the event of sever phone damage? Samsung has a goal to maintain thei MicroSD/Transflash business by flaunting this off.

Already have a Note 8, so not really needing the 9, but the watch looks interesting.
My Gear S2 is getting a bit worn. The 46mm battery spec looks great.

No mention in this article what OS the watch is using. Google isn’t doing much or staying any noise on WearOS. Let’s see how much this gets third party support.

Why would anyone want to “support” a design compromise. Good for Samsung not getting suckered in.

Many others have implemented a snitch or retracted front selfie camera.

There were big screen phones before Samsung.

In fact, they marketed their 3.3" Roxy as a "better size"

I think HTC was the first combining a tablet sized phone with fold out keyboard to touch type on with smartphone windows OS. And with a windows XP.

$999, $1299? Weren't Samsung fanboys blasting apple for the $999 price tag? LOL go figure, Samsung always secretly milking apples nuts all the time

They can't definitely sell for that price. Don't worry they will drop the price sooner. Though Samsung Note 8/9 indeed offers more for that price than iPhones (spec to spec comparison).

In my place I am heading that Note 9 (128 GB) going to be priced lower than Note 8(that to it was 64 GB) by clearly $70-$80 lesser!

As copying goes, ain't the Note wallpaper a copy of the new MacBook Pro wallpapers?

In any case, Samsung offered nothing impressive here.

And here I am, quite happy with my $200 Mi A1.

Other than the camera being meh, it does everything I need from a phone and I get 3-4 days of battery.

And since it's in the Android One program it's pure stock Android and I get updates just 2-3 months after the Pixel devices.
Cheaper because they don't pay any royalties to any other company for using their technology, like Samsung, LG, HTC pays Microsoft for using their technology in Android phones.

Samsung this morning debuted its latest flagship smartphone, the new Galaxy Note 9. The Galaxy Note 9 is equipped with a 6.4-inch 2960 by 1400 Super AMOLED screen, and like previous Note models, it works with the S Pen stylus. Design wise, it looks quite similar to the Note 8.

Does it run iOS? No? Then I don't care.

After Google's Pixel Leak (and if that's real) then it's looking like a Samsung for me in the future, which is something I thought I'd not say. But there you go.

I stopped owning iPhones because I no longer appreciate the design language, and the Pixel 2 XL is and awesome phone and camera. But the potential notch on the new Pixel Phone is possibly the ugliest implementation of a modern 'feature' that I don't like anyway.

And here's Samsung with 2 high end phones with elegant and well designed handsets. The camera is as good as you can get, give or take, and you're good to go.

Point is; I can't be the only one. I know I'm not a unique case, which is to say a stalwart Apple consumer type person who now has very few Apple devices after previously owning around 4 at any given time. I still use Mac desktop and laptop computers, but that's a 60% reduction in owning Apple Mobile devices. My life hasn't deteriorated either. I simply have more choice now and get the same amount of things done, just on Android phones and so on.

Don't get me wrong - I have respect for Apple products as a whole, but to me there has been a sea change in my opinion. Apple no longer make the best products, nor do they have the best cloud services either. I'd be alll over it if they did, but they don't. The world has changed in that regard.

They managed to copy apple’s “pricing”.

That’s the problem with true innovation, everybody copies it.

What's so great about iOS? Genuinely?
Having switched to Android, I can tell you that the best thing about iOS is the App Store when compared to Android. Sure, Android is fairly fragmented and that can be frustrating, but there are frustrating things about iOS too, and I find they kind of cancel each other out.
You should try it.
