wow... why are Apples fans hating on this so much. If Apple had done this everyone would be so in love. Give Samsung credit where credit is due. This is an innovative design that looks very solid and high end. They've created a new form factor that seems to work well, Apple hasn't done this in years.

Congrats to Samsung for 'thinking different'.

Jealousy. They wished Apple would innovate but seems happy to sit on their butt collecting money.

Most products don't solve any problems. If that's your standard for buying something your house must be pretty empty.

I found that if you buy every **** that you think you might need, you end up needing a bigger house or apartment pretty soon.

It does look nice, sort of. But I'm more in Apple's "the less mechanics, the better" camp.
Though, with an Apple watch and AirPods, you'd probably only have to unfold it a couple of times a day.

Not sure what’s innovative about a low specced makeup kit loaded with bloatware that runs 1.3k and higher.

I think the Z flip will certainly appeal to those people old enough to have some nostalgia about their old flip phones. I never personally owned a Razr, but did have one of the really old Motorola “flip” phones, but even back then when I wasn’t opening the phone hundreds of times a day, it was the hinge that ultimately failed and killed it for me.

The cell phone I really loved back in the day, was a super thin Sanyo that was billed as America’s thinnest. It was not only thin, but narrow too, so really easy to hold and stuff in pockets (except for the angled antenna). So of course I appreciate the push toward thin devices.

As others have noted, I’m not sure I’m in the camp of needing or appreciating a device that folds in half - especially if the drawbacks to make that possible are greater than the space saving benefit. It will be interesting to see what real world battery life is like with it. And how the screen and hinge mechanism hold up to pocket and bag detritus.

That money doesn't go into your pocket. Funny how you're not on the side of innovation but more so on how much your favorite company is making bank.
Some people can't see innovation if it smacked them in the face. Innovation has morphed into a personal definition lately. Apple is not churning out popular burgers like MacDonalds. It's my guess, people don't buy into an expensive ecosystem to the turn of $91B in a quarter because a product is "meh".

Exactly. If it was made thinner and the price came down I would buy the iPhone version.

I can see the benefit for skinny jean wearers. Something Apple should've innovated first.

I actually think Apple's phones are better for skinny jeans. This phone does not become more compact as it just trades length for thickness. It actually becomes bulkier in its folded state because there is a small gap down near the hinge. For skinny jeans/pants, you probably want a longer, thinner phone rather than a thicker folded phone, as the latter will create a large, chunky mass sticking out of your pants pocket. And then people will not stop asking you about the cancerous tumor wart that is protruding from your thigh. And this might lead to you getting fired from all your high profile pants modeling jobs. And then your girlfriend might leave you, because who wants to be with a failed pants model that makes poor phone decisions???
