Now you're just being daft - NOTHING could be worse than Samsung's awkward events.

Well, Apple's kool-aid shows sure gives Sammy a run for their money... I mean, the embarrassment by association is something sick when some random exec steps on stage to exclaim that as every year before, we yet again launch some new products while the iSheep spontaneously combust in a flame of standing erections and ovations.

So what will you guys say if Apple does indeed release the device with 2GB of RAM? You will then praise it and switch line to something along the lines of it needed it and blah blah blah.

It gets old after awhile, doesn't it? Apple is not a perfect company, they do not make perfect decisions. Sometimes they decide poorly, sometimes they decide well.

Do apple users often do things like this? Do you have past examples?

Yeah? I think you're just being negative for the sake of having an opinion on something for the sake of being heard- that's also called "any attention is good, as long as I get attention". Apple's polish for marketing, drama building and the precision and professionalism of their keynotes is legendary, with or without Steve Jobs. If you can deny that, you're either just saying so to "prove a point", or in denial, or maybe both.

The chasm of difference between Apple keynotes and Samsung's (and many others in the business), is that Apple are modestly proud and tasteful about how they handle it, without screaming "AREN'T WE GREAT!", they are humble and thankful to the people who work hard with them and for them, and they don't have arbitrary bright, loud, idiotic, random , "edgy" distractions on stage just for the sake of padding it out and "looking cool" - they ARE cool - they're the coolest of the cool, baby.

They don't get their business dorks to stand in ill-fittings suits, blabbering on for half an hour about how many units they've sold; yes, they DO talk about figures, but they don't drag it out in a tasteless show-offy manner with smug grins and an air of entitlement - people who KNOW they are at the top of their business, but who also know that they cannot sit on their hands and become complacent, do not NEED to shout and show off about how amazing they are and how they're "going to beat everyone" - they KNOW people want their things, and for everyone who doesn't? So what?

When you start using ridculous, ignorant phrases such as "iSheep", your credibility and respect is cancelled out immediately, as that's the talk of a bitter person or an ignorant youngster. Whether or not you like Apple products, NOONE can deny their class and their success, but more than that, coupled with humility and a silent knowing that they KNOW they are the best and pay the most attention to what HUMANS WANT, and they don't need to feel insecure, because they've earned their reputation well. Good for them, and hard cheese to people who have nothing more to articulate than "iSheep" or "Fanboys".

Thanks.

It wasn't until Apple introduced the iPod and then the iTunes Store that digital music sales really took off.

Don't forget that the iTunes store launched a long time after the iPod came to market. The first large burst of iPod sales was fuelled by 'free' music that people downloaded and copied from each other.

Piracy of music was a major factor in the rise of the iPod. Anyone that was around at the time knows this.

After looking again, this phone looks awesome, i have to say looking at the display.

It comes close to the Macbook Pro Retina 2560x1600 screen..

I think this will be a new trend... Even iPhone's future will be had with a much better display than no Apple user could have imagined possible.

The 'Edge' of Samsung actually looks good too down the side... I could see a use for that.

Some areas Samsung shines,, then Apple, then Samsung, then Apple.

The guy I quoted called it "original" so the point about everyone and their mother already using it was more than appropriate.

As for a premium feel, I don't think metal always means a premium feel. I've worked with plenty of Russian made metal tools and none of them have felt very premium. An $800 device feeling cheap is a pretty low point for a manufacturer when you think about it.

I completely agree with you but all the reviewers have said it looks premium and feels it in the hand but I suppose thats all opinion at the end of the day.

I know alot don't like to give credit to both but both are amazing companies with amazing products. There really is no need to talkdown on products just because they are from your favourite company's rivals.

... and devs taht wont built apps for it cuz there r just too many android devices and this is obvs a niche product

unless its Tim Cook talking, hes the absolutely worst. He talks so slow and in a monotone voice that makes even the most awake people fall asleep. I hope whats his name makes most of the keynote again next week.

Steve Job is the best one, hands down.....

I think Tim Cook and other Apple executives are considerably better compared to others within the industry because before they have Steve to teach them how to present a product.

I don't think Tim Cook took to those lessons very well then. He's really not a charismatic or engaging person on stage. He may be a great CEO, a great person, but he lacks the energy that Steve possessed and was able to engage the audience.

I used to be put off by the Note line of phones because of the sheer size of the device. Now the Galaxy S is approaching the OG Note in screen size so I don't think it'll be that hard to adjust now.

The Note Edge is certainly a polarizing new idea and Samsung is either crazy or ambitious for releasing it but I can't wait to to get my hands on one.

The Note 4 (and edge) now have 2K resolution and enough RAM to make it my number one option when I'm ready to upgrade.

Let's see what Apple rolls out and the decision will be made.

Good thing I came to MacRumors today for this solid bit of Apple news.

You guys need to quit your bitching about these types of articles. No, it isn't about an Apple product. But it IS directly related to Apple in that it's their main competition. I, for one, like seeing what the competition is up to without having to go to some Android blog. It's not like these articles flood MR daily.

Your constant complaining is far more annoying than the occasional article about Samsung hardware.

"So this is how an Apple rumors site becomes a general tech site: with thunderous applause."
-- Senator Amidala

The Galaxy Note Edge just screams of a solution without a problem. Executed primarily for a little buzz more than to do anything useful.

Apple???? Just got left in dust.. With hack scandal and old tech. Cook is in huge trouble.. Samsung just took game set and match. Samsung is the leader in technology and Apple has not done anything since Jobs died. No wow factor for Apple

Well that is one way of perceiving the world.

Maybe this is that "...And a whole lot more" thing Apple is on about for WWDC.

It may surprise us more than we think. Although it would have to be pretty big to beat the Galaxy 'Edge".

That 'Edge' is so cool, abit even it it does look like a miniature windows xp start menu.

Since Apple's at the Fint Center that's a start in the right direction anyway.

I didn't say Gates said it, he denies it, but there is anecdotal evidence he did, or implied it.

Actually he did say it, but not in the way... or when... that people think.

Gates said it well over a decade after the fact, in a college open forum about PC history.

When asked about predictions, he said something like, "You know, we all thought that going from 64KB to 640KB would be enough to last anybody for the next ten years. We were wrong. It was only sufficient for about half that time."

In other words, he was wryly pointing out how hard it is to predict what will be "good enough" in the future, even the near future.

Therefore, your comment's intent is still valid: people often think what we have today is good enough, and yet in just a few years from now, it'll be seen as outdated.

Apple is so year 2005 when it cant even do simple things like my note3 can:
-Using home button to answer call
-plug in thumb/portable drive directly to phone.
-organize files into directories and have apps access them without need for duplication the files.

I can never see apple as innovative when basic capabilities are crippled. You may say apple purposely do it that way. However someone with this regressed mindset can never understand what innovation is.

I really love my Note 3 but not sure if the Note 4 is worthy of an upgrade. I'm definitely feeling the new metal chassis design and improved s pen support (I can't harp enough on how essential the S pen is). Also, being able to multi-task & resize any window just by pinching in looks promising. As for the Edge, I'm not a fan and I'm so happy Samsung didn't decide to include it in the original Note series.

They are compressing RAM, they are hampering performance to make more bucks from you. RAM compression sucked in the 90's and it sucks now. That won't change compared to not doing it with more memory.
Also the reason iOS doesn't truly multitask.

Keep telling you that, you sound like someone who tried Android for the last time on a low-quality Android Gingerbread phone, in 2010... ;)

Ignorance is bliss

Nooooo :) We develop for mobile now so I have to test on S4 Galaxy all the time. Java is ubber garbage when it comes to user experience, everything feels feather light and slips under your finger, miliseconds true but still noticeable. Talking about garbage Android is like hoarder love to keep it.

Android is inferior to all other major mobile OSes.

This guy gets it. I 100% agree, dude. So, can we please not bash anybody who speaks positively about Samsung or somebody who prefers Samsung over Apple? Yes I've seen that on this forum WAY too much. Quite childish IMO. Excellent post bro #

no, it wont outsell the iphone. But it is a much better device in all aspects.
I own an note 2, and I'll upgrade to the iPhone 6+, the Note 4 with the exception of the S pen and the fact it's smaller, has nothing to appeal.

1st iOS / OSX are IMHO the best ecosystem, superior 3rd party software quality, years light away superior integration (hands off, apple pay etc).

2nd useless features as resolution, is not human possible to distinguish 1K (note 2) from 2k(iPhone 6+) much less from 3K (note 4).

3rd and worst : SAMSUNG HATES TO UPDATE IT'S DEVICES SOFTWARE, they only gives updated from 2yr after launch then you need to buy a new one if you need an new Android feature or go DIY with 3rd party cooked rom this is despicable.

IOS is not ahead infact it's behind. You can use google wallet at any tap to pay location(out for over 2years) if your device has nfc(with the exception of a few carrier locked variants). So yes, if you consider features that are over 2 years delayed a benefit then yes IOS is the best.
The note 4 is smaller, but it keeps the same 5.7' display as on note3. This just makes it so much easier to use vs. 6+, note3, etc.. I can clearly see pixels in my note 3 which is a 1080p panel, 1440p on the other hand is very hard to distinguish(the lg g3 has a 1440p display). Updates are more of a carrier problem, and is where locked androids suffer. Samsung usually updates there phones within a couple months or so, but it's upto att/verizon etc. to roll out these updates, that's why internationally the updates come out a lot earlier(carriers make this process very slow in order to force you into buying the latest and greatest phone to get the newest OS).

Completely agree. I love the S5. Beautiful phone, but I know that when Android L comes out, I won't ever get the upgrade; not for at least a few years.

If you didn't read: I own an Note II GT-N7100, not my first Crapsung, but surely it's my last one.

Samsung stated will not update the GT-N7100 to Android "L", only to 4.4.2, maybe to 4.4.4 not more, while actually the note 2 hardware fully support Android "L", this is obvious policy of "anticipated obsolescence".

Carrier delay in updates don't use to extend more than 2 month and it's due they need to check the update it's compatible with all the bloatware they installed.

Yes android has nfc payments from a while, but very few merchants accept Google Checkout or the previously known as ISIS, apple pay it cheaper indeed and from star a large number of popular merchants will accept it.

Last year samsung delayed update from 4.1.2 to 4.2 then they skipped 4.2 and finally near 9 months before 4.2 update they released 4.3, BUT NOT THE SAME UPDATE AS ON THE NOTE 3, but a simplified one, w/o features they could bring for free to the note 2 as the S-Pen menu just to name one, this is anticipated obsolescence policy, while right now Appe is updating the iPhone 4s to iOS 8 with most of its features except those not supported by the hardware.

No sir, if some day I'll get another android will never be a samsung, actually I own an HTC ONE M8 purchased from T-Mobile then I installed the Google Play Edition ROM, now I have a phone that will update to Android "L" automatically as soon it's available, samsung last and final GPe Android it's an S4, they blame the GPe for the slow S5 sales, why? Simple they bet on anticipated obsolescence to push sales.

If you want an Android Ok you won't have things such hand of, or being capable to respond calls from your pc speakers or send sms from your pc or simply have the hardest recovery or "remote fuse" system, it's OK you're free but consider stay away Crapsung, there are better alternatives at Android less frustrating.
