I know plenty. I know that for now and for the near future - it's a marketing statement - nothing more

Then how do you explain 5s beating out 5 in single core everyday bench marks like web browsing - even though they run at the same speed?

God that Note 4 looks sexy. Im praying that they make a Google Play Edition version.

Eddy cue said that 2014 pipeline is the best he jas seen in 25 years. He didnt say it
without reason. Trust me, apple is prepareing something big and they are going to kill this samsung phones

That really means nothing. They could improve the iphone 5s by 1% and it would technically be the 'best' phone in apple for 25 years...

Apple need to release something much more than just a smart watch. If its just a smart watch pretty much everything Jobs stood for would be over. Even cook himself has said that it would need to do something fundamentally amazing for people to want to use it.

My guess is that this even will only be for iphone6, plus pumping the seemless features between iphone and yosemite.

If a new product does exist, it will be released closer to christmas.

It's called optimisation, something Apple does very well.

They are compressing RAM, they are hampering performance to make more bucks from you. RAM compression sucked in the 90's and it sucks now. That won't change compared to not doing it with more memory.

Galaxy Note Edge. Finally something original from Samsung.
I hope you're being sarcastic... All they did with the regular Note was replace the painted plastic people complained about in the previous model with actual metal. Using aluminum isn't exactly original by any definition of the word considering it's already being used in several devices by Apple, Nokia, HTC, LG, Asus, Lenovo, Alcatel and pretty much every handset maker under the sun.

What? I don't understand. This is a samsung thread and someone said that 1GB is better than 3GB. I thought that was weird so i asked why, what does Apple have to do with this? Also, to let you know i prefer Apple products. Definitely.

Samsung missed out on some things that could have made this phone better than the Note 3. No fingerprint sensor, no waterproof phone. They made the same size phone with a better battery and camera but the S5 is still better to buy. The s pen is better but not all people need that feature.

Or even a better question, how many apps has he installed that require:

* Cell access
* text access
* Call log access
* Map location access
* Geo fencing access

List goes on. I quit Android right away when 90% of all apps request all of the above. And you can't reject just a single item like you can on iOS. For instance, I don't want Facebook to have my location. Checkmark, done! In Android? Either I give them access to everything including recorded conversations or can't use apps.

Oh also ask him how many at&t, and "value added" apps are installed on his device? And how you have to go to settings and disable the apps (can't uninstall them); they still have components that run in the background. Anytime I hear "value added", I automatically think malware that needs to be uninstalled. Unfortunately, I can no longer separate Android from being exactly like an hp or dell computer. Clobbered with crap that you cannot uninstall unless you are really techy and find your own custom image/ROM that is clean of all the crap they include.

** disgruntled previous Android owner **

Really? :rolleyes:

Oh by the way, clean stock ROM images are very easy to find on the manufacturer's website, and can be flashed easily with the stock recovery tool. For example: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N900T

I don't want to sound harsh, but your comment is full of ignorance

don't think anybody says others don't already have it. Fact is a more premium look was needed and they finally did it with the metal look and it looks nice.

actually the fingerprint scanner is there.

Samsung did not provide pricing or exact launch dates for this new hardware

All you need to know, right there.

It's just Samsung being Samsung. They announce something that's not ready yet, right before a big Apple event so they can claim they were first. Then what always happens is Apple snatches all the headlines a few days later, and actually ships first, often making the Samsung stuff look out of date before it even ships.

Meanwhile, Samsung is jealous of the folks already lining up outside of Apple stores before Apple even announces anything.

you can't really think this, surely?

Samsung were always going to announce it at this time. They would only guess when apple would release theirs.

Of course apple will have loads of people lining up they always do even for average updates as people will buy anything apple release. Thats what happens when you build up a good rep.

That's being a real Apple fanboy or a wum?

Samsung always launch the new version of the note at the Berlin event every year.

I love Apple products but given that we're likely to see a 5.5" iPhone, it's not Samsung who are following at the moment.

Why do people think they need an quad core processor in a mobile phone? There are very VERY few circumstances where it could ever take advantage of a quad core processor.

The vast overwhelming majority of apps are single threaded, meaning that they can only take advantage of a single core. The iPhone 5S SLAMS every android smartphone on the market when it comes to single core performance, meaning that well over 90% of all apps will actually run faster on the iPhone.

In fact, guess what? The iPhone 5S, which was released nearly a YEAR ago, still performs nearly 30% better on single-threaded tasks than the Snapdragon 805 in the Galaxy Note 4.

Want to know what's even funnier? Of the apps that are multithreaded, very few can actually utilize more than 2 threads, so the iPhone STILL wins even among most multithreaded apps, simply because Apple has focused on providing better single-threaded performance per core.

People hear "8 core" and because of the android marketing spec-war they have been conditioned to believe that more cores = better in all cases. But this just isn't true. For every day real-world performance, Apple's A7 chip is far superior in multiple ways.

Because one of the few Android's reasons of existence is to sell hardware components. Manufacturers tried to differentiate themselves with front end software rewraps but soon they figured out that there is no way in hell you can deep modify it without sacrificing already lackluster smoothness and performance so they ditched it. Now its all about CPU, Camera, Screen Resolution or Size and other internal or external hardware ideas. Similar to "goodl ol days" of Windows.

Comparing Android to iOS, WP and BB10 doesn't make sense. Android is simply inferior solution when it comes to performance, all other three blow it out of the water cause they are optimized and conceptualized in a much more efficient way hence they require less computing power and RAM cause they don't leak as much.

One can only hope that Android L is complete rewrite.

Keep telling you that, you sound like someone who tried Android for the last time on a low-quality Android Gingerbread phone, in 2010... ;)

Ignorance is bliss

More like hard to use

If you're an average consumer struggling to use a smartphone, that's your problem because most features tend to be fairly easy to use.

----------

All droid batteries are bigger and may last longer for they degrade MUCH faster than apples batteries! fact!

That's why my Note 2 battery works and an iPhone 5 needs a battery replacement program. Interesting how facts actually work.

----------

Its a new phone running a year old version of the OS. KK was released last Oct LOL. Oh Android, so comical.

Funny how Kitkat runs better than iOS 7 and any other iteration of the iPhone so far. And that's why Apple copies features from Android. iOS 8, now you can change the keyboard, "Apple is so iconic and innovative." iSheep, no matter how many times you shave the fluff off them, it grows back.

The whole OS debate is laughable because many of those arguing know little to nothing about Android - only what they've read on here or what they've experienced for 5-10 minutes in a store. Oh yes - there are some Android users with experience. I don't discount that. But many regurgitate old rhetoric.

It should also be pointed out that you can't compare OSes and update paths because with Android, the core apps constantly get updated and also now that Google has play services with extended control over devices, those updates happen quite frequently without a need for a whole new OS "version"

As an Apple fan (see my signature), and a former iPhone user (now a Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 3 user), I can't believe all the misconceptions and falsities I read here from some iPhone users, on Android :confused:

I'm still trying to figure out if it's in bad faith, by ignorance, or because they're scared
