So then we should all stick to 3.5 screens with low resolution as to keep the battery life longer??? So then we should stop evolving in technology??

If you want more power, better screens, better everything then you cannot expect to keep battery life for more than a day.

Annd 2500mAh battery. Usage time should be no worse than the average smartphone.

Yep. No one seems to be looking up the battery size before complaining about the battery life.

It's going to have a huge battery. At worst, it'll have the normal battery life of a smartphone out today.

h-e-a-v-y

bwaaahahahaha

Hit the weights? Seriously, as mentioned, it weighs a couple ounces more than the iPhone. If you've got a problem carrying all that extra weight around, you really need to make some life changes.

----------

The phone only weighs 178g, not too bad considering the size. People are always complaining that the lightness of the GS2 makes it feel cheap anyway, so this should be fine.

Can't win with people who have already made their minds up. Like they say; Haters gonna hate.

Ok...how about heavier than what I carry now? And I am not a small guy, no issues with the ability to lift...but I don't want to carry around a heavier device than I have to...esp if I'm putting in my pocket.

You guys just buy in to all the bigger is better hype. If that's how you are, go for it.

Well at some point you have to make a trade-off. Do you want a smaller phone with a smaller battery, lighter overall, or a larger phone with a poor battery but the same weight, or larger with good battery life, but heavier? You can't have everything, which is why Samsung makes such a variety, in the hopes that they cater to the needs of everyone. Clearly this isn't the phone for you, but others think it will be great.

Bottom line: if you don't like it, buy something else.

I enjoy the iPhone and would love it if it got thinner, lighter, and the battery lasted longer.

Increasing the size would make me nervous and increasing the weight would piss me off.

I love how the argument from people opposed to the Note is this.

Yes, I think bigger-than-3.5" is better, but don't necessarily feel 5.3" is ideal. HOWEVER, the thing boasts features, both software and hardware, that the iPhone---hell, ANY phone---can't touch right now.

Like someone stated in another thread (or might have been this one, I don't remember exactly), it's not like we're talking about wanting just any phone with a giant display. This, the GS2 and the "Prime" are great looking phones (on paper, and the GS2 in real life) so we're interested in checking them out. Screen size isn't the only factor.

Great post!

So do you suspect that the maximum Apple will go to is 3.8" to preserve the Retina Display moinker, and keeping it as narrow-like as possible?

Thanks. Yes, I think 3.8" would be the ideal spot. The 4" display, unless they can do edge-to-edge, seems a bit too wide. While everyone on the internet forums yell loudly for larger screens, iPhone's screens are wider than they sound on paper, and a lot of iPhone users are women with smaller hands who rarely post on internet forums. Of course, Apple can also keep the word "Retina" by going 3.8".

More importantly, if my calculation is correct, a 3.8" iPhone would have a display area of 6.66 square inch, further proving to us that they are highly evil.

It'll be interesting how the market reacts to the pen feature on a phone, especially if this thing costs pretty high. While we don't have concrete data, the HTC Flyer 7" tablet hasn't seemed to catch on all that well despite using a similar pen technology.

I really didn't even know the iPhone 5 was released yet, so Samsung must be doing something magical to copy it. Looks like an awesome phone, but the stylus is a big fail.

I fail to understand how an added option is a "big fail". Samsung isn't forcing you to use it. If that was the case, yeah, "big fail".

Pretty sure the stylus is for ease of writing/sketching, not out of necessity.

Today I read that the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus (previously called Nexus Prime) will have a 4.65 HD screen. Not bad too if 5.3 is too big. Its still HD resolution plus you get the updates straight from Google.

Ill wait till that one is announced to decide between iPhone 5, Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy Note. Its gonna be one of them for sure.

The built in stylus is back, oh god.
I don't know about your fat little fingers, but my fat little fingers would welcome the option to use a stylus. I use one 100% of the time on the iPad and can't live without it.

Also, it's for drawing and note taking. You ever try to draw and take notes with your finger on one of these devices? It's not pretty.

Kudos to Samsung for offering this as an option.

People around here don't seem to like options. They just want whatever apple tells them is best for them.
