I actually like that last line. I don't even like Android myself! I also plan to move into that Galaxy far, far away...

This is the BAD BOY I am really waiting for -

Samsung-Galaxy-Note.jpg

Yeah, I know. Way TOO BIG (insert "that's what she said" line). Holding it against my ear will feel strange at first. Bluetooth will solve that and who cares? Why not make the jump from 3.5 to 5.3 ASAP.

I am in my early 30's who already wore glasses back when I was 13 (near-sighted) and I know my eyes will be getting even weaker once I hit my 40's. My parents had 20/20 vision when they were young but once they hit their 40's, their vision got really bad that both needed reading glasses.

BIG SCREEN = MORE PRACTICAL in the longer term health for your eyes. Heck, my parents have a hard time seeing any picture I show them on my iPhone 4. PPI don't mean squat to them.

Zack Morris used to carry a huge phone like 20 years ago and he will always be cooler than Slater! Same with Michael Douglas in Wall Street. I can SEE big phones making a comeback. You whip it out, it draws stares, and then you start feeling what Milton Berle, John Holmes, or Dirk Diggler felt.

Then the girls will be like, "Is that a Note in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

This is So disappointing. I'm tired of straining my eyes on the iPhone's tiny screen. I guess i'll be getting the Galaxy S II, and like I said I don't even like Android.:confused:

I might be joining you, too. As long as my 3GS holds out, I'll keep it for the OS. But once it goes out, no way I'm wasting my money on 4S. Will be getting that or Nexus.

That is, until the legendary iPhone 5 comes out.

I ran out and picked up the Samsung Galaxy S II after the keynote. Figured I'd give it a whirl and see how I feel about it. I realize it's only been a few hours of ownership, but I plan on trading it back in this friday and reserving my iPhone 4S.

I wouldn't consider myself an Apple fanboy (3GS first Apple product ever owned), and don't see anything wrong with Android. It actually feels pretty slick. For me, it's the build quality, this thing seems like it'll snap in half if I bump into something with it in my pocket, and as much as I like the bigger screen, I don't care for the wider phone.

At this point it's probably more familiarity of the iOS over Android and build quality keeping me with Apple. My 3GS died a few months back and I have been holding out for the announcement to upgrade.

My $0.02

What is the point of getting a phone when you don't like the OS? If you don't like the 4S, then get something you like.

Buying a phone you don't even like based solely on the fact that the one you do like was announced with specs that don't blow your hair back is pretty silly.

Don't be the crossed arms, stomping your feet pouting type....don't be that guy.

I'm also on waiting for the Nexus Prime. I'm planning on upgrading phones in the future and the 4S just isn't what I'm looking for. This is just a good time to try out a different phone/OS while we wait for apple to come out with something that isn't just a spec upgrade.

Android is not as bad as all you IOS user's think. I don't know what phones you may have tried but Android is not going anywhere. I have not had a single problem with mine. It's ok to try new things...
+1

I say don't knock until you really try it. And I don't mean for some folks to demo it for 10 minutes at a store. Plus, not all Androids are created equal or should all be pigeonholed into one label called "laggy." Things have changed alot since 2009 and 2010.

I am looking forward at three different Androids -

These are the droids I am looking for....

Samsung Galaxy Note vs Nexus Prime vs HTC Sensation XE

Note has the stylus and 5.3 inch screen that makes you feel like GODZILLA with a KING KONG phone. Fairly the same internals as the S II. A perfect phone for people who also like to draw and it is packing that 2500 mAh battery.

Prime is the pure Google Experience phone. Perfectly in stock and you get the updates fast. Rumored to have a 4.6-inch screen with a 720p resolution and 320ppi. So perfect balance of big screen and sharp pixel density.

Sensation XE might be the audiophile's dream phone and HTC has 21% better customer satisfaction compared to Samsung if Apple's chart were accurate. HTC is 2nd to Apple in that area. One of my top uses for my iPhone currently has been for music, so audio quality is starting to matter more for me. If Dr. Dre can finally drop his Detox album, I would love blasting the volume up on the XE while using one of his headphones.

All I know is while Asians do all the dirty work for Apple to make iPhones, I feel those Asian manufacturers have now surpassed Apple in some areas including hardware since they are the ones manufacturing the damn things including iPhones. LG and Samsung both provided parts for Apple. My only question is whether I want to go Korean or Taiwanese for my next phone?

3.5 inch display = so 2007

I was holding out for an iPhone display that was at least 4 inches and Apple didn't deliver. iPhone 4 is going to be my last iPhone. Apple simply hasn't kept up with the competition, instead they are now playing catch up. The iPhone 4S will be just on the heels of the competition until quad core devices are released and they will be left playing catch up again, not to mention NFC. The Galaxy S2 is sounding good right about now.

BTW why aren't the speeds of iPhone's processor and and how much RAM ever discussed in their keynotes? To compete, iPhone needs a processor with at least a speed of 1.5 ghz and at least 1GB or RAM anything less is not worth the high price.

I spent the last week with a Galaxy S2 and I want to through it against a wall. I absolutely hate the browser and email client. Double tap to zoom in the browser doesn't work nearly as well as on iOS and it drives me crazy.

You can also heat a small room with how hot the S2 runs.

You have truly made the right decision there, my friend in choosing a superior phone over the one known as the iLame 4S!:D

In fact, I have a feeling that a lot of iSheeple will be joining the Android Side from the Apple side due to the disappointment that is the iLame 4S!

Clearly you never used GSII... Oh well.. Nothing unusual on macrumors.

You know what they say, haters gonna hate and nothing surprises me here on macrumors seeing as there seem to be more trolls on here than people who are willing to accept that Apple isn't perfect! (Believe me, I've been a victim of them just because I didn't kiss Steve Jobs' ass!)

Larger screen = nice to work on, not so nice in the pocket.
Go ahead and get your Samsung, no one cares.
This. If the iPhone's screen is too hard to read, the solution is an iPad, not a larger phone that fits poorly in a pocket. :p

I have a Galaxy S II myself and I have no problems fitting it in my jeans pocket alongside an iPod Touch 4G which has a rubber cover on it.

Damn, now THAT'S one huge-ass phone!

The sad thing is that there are people out there who can't accept that there are some people who would want a phone with a bigger screen for various reasons like yourself.

I like the Galaxy S II mainly because of things like its screen plus the power within it and I also like the fact that I can play videos such as anime fansubs or live-action movies without having to convert them to a different format as you would usually have to on an iOS device! (I personally recommend QQ Player on Android myself as it's the best video player out there for the OS)

Remember :apple: said the same thing about the 3G to 3GS release. However many times faster, blah blah.
After a week of having the 4S, would not even going to remember the speed of your 4. Its like buying a brand new car, exactly the same as your old car, just 2.0 rather than a 1.6.
I believe something new, needs to look different. using the same casing is just lazy! If someone had said to me yesterday - Do you think :apple: would release another "S" version, I would have told them they stupid.

At the moment, the only thing stopping me from buying the S2 is iTunes. I have spent £100's on music.

:apple: you're lame!

You do know that there are other choices of browser out there through the Android Market such as Opera Mobile and Mini plus Dolphin and Skyfire, right?

As for the overheating issue, that can be easily fixed by an upgrade from your phone operator or if you can't wait for an official upgrade, install a custom ROM (XDA-Developers have some good ones for the SGS-II) or buy a metal back cover on eBay for a few dollars.

I love my Galaxy S II and would choose that over the iLame 4S any day...
