can't blame us for copying if we rush out a **** product before apple gets their superior version out!

Huawei already has triple lens phone with its P20 Pro and Samsung has produced some phone with great camera before. I won't doubt triple lens Galaxy will be awesome

i find it funny how everytime theres a apple rumor going around of a future product samsung hurries up and tries to built it first.

It is funny that triple lens iPhone rumors came after Huawei put out its won Triple lens P20 Pro. I find really funny people in this forum will take any opportunities to mock Samsung as copy cat. Apple is always late in its game and people in this forum will always say Apple wants to make its product perfect, but in fact, it is just average at best

Nothing too exciting when it comes to hardware these days. Kind of expected as eventually we'll all just have thin slabs of glass. It will all come down to software, performance, security, privacy, ecosystem, apps, and support. Apple has a serious lead in these areas.

Software, nope. iOS has been playing catch up for several years now, iOS is not in lead at all.

Performace. Nope. Even though you can see all these benchmark for A11 is impressive, but i don't see any difference between my Huawei Mate 10 or P20 compare with iPhone 8 from my dad.

Ecosystem. This is depends on person. For people with all Google (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Maps etc) Android is actually better ecosystem. For all prespective application (iCloud Mail, iCloud Drive, iCloud Photo, Apple Maps etc) are still very lacking compare with Google's offering.

Securitiy and Privacy, i can give you that. But these alone doesn't makes me want swtich to iOS anytime soon.

Apps. All majority of apps are offered in both platforms. You rarely see apps are being exclusive to one platform anymore. When apps are offered in Android, Android version is just as good as iOS offering.

Support. That's depends. I never had any problem with my Android phone at all. None of my Android phones from past 5 years has any problems. But Apple can be lead in this area.

In general, both Google with its army of Android phone makers and Apple provide consumer good product. People should just pick which one they want. Apple doesn't in lead anymore.

Disagree completely. Smart phones have evolved greatly over years. In respect to the article, look how smart phone cameras have almost eliminated point and shoot and cameras. Its incredible the detailed photography smart phone cameras can produce.

In fairness, the Apple Watch is the _best_ selling smart watch in the world. The HomePod is still in its infancy to determine how successful it is yet, being its only been available for six months.

Smart watch in general is failure in begining. It never took off and it is still a very niche product. I suspect it will be this way for very long time.

Galaxy 9 is out since few days, but we are already talking about Galaxy 10.
Today nothing has any value.
Still using a cam made in USSR and it works perfect since 70 years.

Am I wrong?

Anyway, pictures these days are at least half the result of the software and image processing, in which Apple trounces Samsung. Portrait mode has been copied by Android manufacturers, as one example. Samsung’s color accuracy is garbage and over saturated in almost all cases.

Apple isn’t a hardware company. They spec hardware out but don’t build a lot of it because hardware manufacturing is a crap, competitive, low margin business.
The fact that you are a hater doesn't make you right. You outright called Samsung's products garbage for no objective reason whatsoever.
Apple is quite average these days when it comes to software and image processing. Google with HDR+ Enhanced beat them without a sweat.
The thing is software is only one part of the equation while hardware is the other. Color is anyway subjective(that's why you like to talk about it) and the easiest to manipulate but Samsung's phones definitely have better camera hardware. You can't take that from them.
Also in may experience the iphone x clipps highlights quite often which is way worse than "over-saturated colors"because it can't be fixed.

Remember, Apple’s Samsung screen was better than Samsung’s Samsung screen, so they know what they are doing.
To put it into perspective some aspects were better the same way other aspects were better on Samsung's screens. So yeah big deal.

4 month is nothing compared to 40 years of quality we had in last century.

Today we use things and throw them away after such a short time.

Billion tons of waste every year...

LoL what are you talking about? You clearly said: Galaxy 9 is out since few days

We'll have to disagree. When it comes to software, iOS is still the preferred platform for developers, which I think is a huge benefit to Apple and it's users. I haven't seen much innovation on the Android side (a few nice to haves, but nothing major) and while you may think that iOS has been behind, it ultimately doesn't matter as the majority of Android users won't even see the features you speak of. Apple having it's own chips in itself makes it a better platform moving forward. More control, better benchmarks, better optimization. iOS 12 is already performing great on 5 year old hardware, Android can't say anything like that. That's big for a lot of users. Ecosystem, I agree, depends on the person - but this goes along with Apps. There is a huge number of accessory makers and developers that cater specifically to iOS users, with many apps not coming to Android until months later, if at all. Security and privacy will only become more important in coming years. Google (and especially the devices you use) have a long long way to go here. Unless you are totally fine giving up all of your data, which then becomes a personal choice. Support - Apple is known for their great support, having nearby stores accessible, and regularly giving new hardware to people to fix any issues they may have. In the end, of course it comes to personal choice, but I still feel Apple is the best all around platform choice when it comes the performance, security, privacy, ecosystem, apps, and support. Either way, it's great that we have competition and choice.

If it's just about Macs it'll be slow news 11 months out of the year and maybe even 12 months if Tim Cook succeeds in killing the Mac by replacing it with iPad.

Eh, just reblog some guy complaining about the Mac every other day and the responses pretty much write themselves.

Every Samsung device review contains the words: "If that sounds familiar...."

Dual lens on the front? What... what for? Zooming makes no sense from that perspective unless you really want to show your nose hair. Extra wide angle front camera to fit more than one person in? Sounds relatively redundant. Authentication? Sounds pretty unsecure compared to an IR map. Maybe Portrait mode ala iPhone?

If it's portrait mode, I'd leave it Samsung. Apple can't nail that so you don't have a hope.

Basically, you hope to meet Tim Cook one day and get his autograph.

The S9 was launched 4 months ago.
The point is, Apple made a better screen using Samsung's screen than Samsung could. The iPhone X screen is better overall, period. The review was objectively measured and Apple's screen won. That says something about Apple, can you at least concede that?

Hardware is literally nothing without software. That's what Samsung doesn't understand.

Samsung is NOT ahead in camera hardware. They are significantly behind Apple in 3D facial mapping hardware AND software, as I objectively pointed out with AR Emoji and is further proven with their version of facial unlock (which is not secure enough to validate Samsung Pay).

Oh by the way, the A-Series chips (hardware) are also ahead of Samsung and Android collectively.

You do agree AR Emoji was rushed as a response to Animoji and is a unanimous disaster, right? If not, I can't take you seriously. You also recognize the superiority of Apple's front facing camera tech as evidenced by far better facial tracking, more secure facial unlock, and better software interface?

I point out color because Samsung's pictures are universally criticized for unnatural color processing.

However, it's the best selling smart watch in a tiny market because most people haven't found a use for a smart watch yet. The only uses I can see are fitness fanatics that want to measure everything (which is not all fitness fanatics) and people that think they should absolutely see every notification on their phone the millisecond it arrives.

Tim Cook is a person you can admire. How many people are more successful and do a better job than Tim Cook? He is executing phenomenally well in a very competitive environment. It's not damned easy to do what Time Cook has done.

The screen is made by Samsung with their own tech.
In itself it's inferior to S9 screen(for example) after objective measurements were made.
Also it only beats note 8's screen in sRGB calibration(and not by much) and manual screen brightness. Yeah so much superiority.

Hardware is literally nothing without software. That's what Samsung doesn't understand.

Quite a bold and pointless generalization.
You can just a easily say software is literally nothing without hardware.

Samsung is NOT ahead in camera hardware.

Well looking at the S9 plus they are ahead in camera hardware.
We are talking about primary 12 MP (f/1.5-2.4, 26mm, 1/2.55", 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF. Those are quite literally superior camera hardware specs in comparison to an iphone x. That is why the S9 is so much better in low light for example, because it has a bigger sensor, bigger pixels, bigger aperture, faster and more accurate focus.

They are significantly behind Apple in 3D facial mapping hardware AND software, as I objectively pointed out with AR Emoji and is further proven with their version of facial unlock (which is not secure enough to validate Samsung Pay).

That's not going to help iphone take better pictures now is it? But I understand your need to deflect.

Oh by the way, the A-Series chips (hardware) are also ahead of Samsung and Android collectively.

LoL so now you want to talk about the CPU?

I agree that you are just trying to deflect.

Colors are subjective, people that criticize Samsung's camera color are most of the time subjective and more often than not they outright exaggerate.

I list all the things Apple hardware is better: Silicon, screen, cameras: True Depth, Facial Mapping, 3D sensing, colors) and you respond with some stats about the rear camera on a phone that is newer? Samsung still hasn't matched the front camera tech and the September iPhone will again overtake the S9+ in rear camera testing (as the iPhone X did to the S8+). The camera tech always is an arms race, but Samsung is behind in front camera hardware and overall in software as evidenced by what you called deflection.

CPU is just another piece of hardware that Apple is ahead, which is why I brought it up since you think Samsung is such a hardware juggernaut.

Software might nothing without hardware, but Apple certainly combines the 2 better than Samsung. You saw that in AR Emoji disaster. Apple would never release that garbage.

And I barely used the camera when it was a single lens, forget that the fact that I have taken maybe 20 pictures with this Dual Lens 7+ for the almost 16 months I have owned it. :D

I get it, some folks love and want the best cameras in their phones. I will leave that to them.

This Doesn’t make any sense what you said. How can a smart watch be the best selling smart watch in the world and you’re insinuating that people haven’t found a use for a smart watch yet? So what is exactly that you’re advocating? Clearly its popularity has grown exponentially since it’s launch in April 2015 To where it is today, being that is has surpassed all the other smart watches on the market. Yes, the smart watch market is is a niche category, but you can’t dismiss the Apple Watch strictly just because you think ‘Other people haven’t found a use for it yet’.

It’s sold what 20 million units or more? So the guy you quoted I have no idea what he’s on about.

It’s selling better than all pixel phones combined.

I’m surprised there are new part leaks of the new iPhones yet. Apple has really doubled down I see.

Your post doesn’t make sense and/or its confusing , I think you meant to say “You’re surprised there are _no_ new part leaks for the iPhones yet”. Also, it’s not necessarily Apple has ‘doubled down’ on controlling leaks, it’s just that what else is there really to see this year? We already know what to expect what this new iPhone will resemble primarily, as there won’t be any real significant hardware changes.

Let’s be real... EVERY year parts leak. The 3GS wasn’t a big jump from the 3G yet it still leaked. The 6 to the 6S... etc. Nice updates, but not revolutionary. I know we’re 10+ years in the life of the iPhone, but people are still interested in the product and I don’t think the lack of leaks or indicitive of lack of interest.

And yes my apologies I did mean I’m surprised there are NO part leaks. Just informational leaks.

But the S9's screen is better than the screen on the iPhone X. Samsung have Iris scanning which can be used with samsung pay.

Apple's front facing camera is ahead but samsung have pulled ahead with the dual apature on the rear camera.

How many versions of their watch did they rush out as rumors of the Apple Watch began circulating? Five?

Rush?, they had smart watches literally years before the Apple watch. Can they predict the future as well..
[doublepost=1531420475][/doublepost]
Last time I checked, Apple was the first to put two lenses being one a Tele lens, and the first to put a 3D depth sensing powered by machine learning feature on a phone with the iPhone 7 Plus.
[doublepost=1531158047][/doublepost]

Samsung is not a “credible competitor” to Apple.

They don’t even have their own OS, AppStore, programming languages, SDK, WWDC, Apple Music, computers and their own OS to make everything, their own CPU cores, GPU cores, vídeo encoders/decoders, etc. etc. etc.

They make phones, but so does Xiaomi.
Lol, you are adorable sir.. is there a company on the planet that does more products than Samsung!! Apart from every conceivable electronics device. They do ships, construction, diggers.. and here we go.. freakin missiles!!!

Phones is probs 10% of their turnover.. Apple make phones.. and the odd computer!!

That's Linux with Apple WebKit.

App Store : Samsung Apps
Great software selection! Are you really comparing that to the 2+ million Apps stores like the AppStore and Google Play and the chinese?

Samsung’s annual developers conference
Such a relevant conference!

Own chips: Exynos chips
Those aren't "Samsung", they use ARM cores under license.
