The correct comparison should be the note 8 and the iPhone X. Not saying that iPhone X wouldn’t have won.

Note 8 doesn’t sell in high enough numbers anymore, it’s more of a niche compared to the s8/9 plus model.

But yeah same 835 chip, doesn’t really compare much against the a11.

i find it funny how everytime theres a apple rumor going around of a future product samsung hurries up and tries to built it first.
I find it funny that when android OEMs have features years and years before Apple they still get accused of copying Apple. Even if they have had several iterations of the same feature/products surely they must have done all of the that just to beat Apple to the punch.

Apple aren't the only company with ideas. In this instance neither Samsung nor Apple will be the first to use a triple lens camera. Huawei launched the p20 pro before any rumours of a triple lens set up were heard about future products from either company.

Apple were also not the first to have dual lens cameras on their phones. Several years late to the game on that.

What are the chances they drop the headphone jack for the s10.
I hope not.

Then by that stretch it could post absolutely anything whatsoever then? So why call it Macrumors then?

I've been a member of this website for 12 years and it used to be just what the title suggested. Now it's trying to compete for ad revenue along with the likes of Engadget. Such a shame.
Shame on Arn for making money. He has a lot of nerve.

Let’s get one thing straight Apple was a computer company first and foremost. Most of the features your describing has been available on the Mac platform or the iOS jailbreaking community for years. Apple isn’t copying android or android oems. Other way round. Capacitive fingerprint sensors, the notch, no headphone jack, chamfered edges, etc etc. What Apple does everyone else follows. Google, Samsung, one plus, Huawei, Xiaomi.

And Where are most of original android oems today?
Motorola, HTC, Sony,or lg.

Each ones android phone division has either crumbled and been sold or is in free fall.

Who do you think Apple copied on the dual lens camera?
I hope your not going to say HTC.

Huawei, Xiaomi and HTC to name a few had dual lens cameras before Apple.

Motorola had a FPS before Apple. The phone just didn’t get any traction.

Essential had the notch first. What I will say about the notch is that it’s necesary for Apple because of all the sensors. Not for the android OEMs. In that instance they are copying Apple without any good reason. Samsung are the only ones who aren’t.

Edge to edge oled displays and wireless charging are things that were on android for years before Apple adopted them.

Apple are good at making things complete and their execution is often better. However it’s the android OEMs that usually develop the technology first.

Don't come round here using sense and logic.. it doesn't go down very well..

A couple of rules you obviously don't understand. a) we all know that Apple didn't invent anything, but we all pretend they did.. b) we all know every decent inovation was invented by android OEMs and Apple copied, but boy we forget that and pretend Apple invented it first and everyone else copied.

Thems da rulez....

They may not be the first but it's debatable that they do it best. Apple is one company that release a 1 phone ones a ear. You can't expect them to compete with 20 manufacturers and not be able to be accused of copying.

I made the switch from an iPhone 6S (last one with a headphone jack) to a Galaxy S9 as soon as the S9 came out and I've been super happy with the decision.

The reasons why I made the switch:
- the pricing of the iPhone X is ridiculous in Europe
- the iPhone X doesn't have a headphone jack (I use a headset at work and need to switch between my laptop and phone, so 3.5mm jack is a must)
- Apple says that it supports USB type-c, but all the iPhones still come with a lightning connector. Now I use my Macbook Pro type-c charger to charge both my phone and my laptop, no need to carry a type-c -> lightning cable

The only thing I'm worried about is Samsung's support for future OS's, as they have taken their sweet time to upgrade older phones to a new Android version (such as 7 Nougat -> 8 Oreo).
how do you handle importing music into your android with a mac. Android file transfer app was pretty horrible for me when i had the galaxy s6 and nexus 5

There's the android device manager which is terrible.

Another way is to have the music on a micro SD card. You can load the music onto the SD card and then out your SD card into your phone.

How is the android device manager so terrible? I have had the s2, s4, and now the s7. All I have to do is plug the phone into my Mac, the device manager opens and I just drag and drop.

Still awful Samsung's design. The only thing I like in Galaxy smartphone is 68mm width and screen to body ratio. AMOLED is great but still burn in issue (the same like in old Nokia Lumia with AMOLED). If you change smartphone every year this will be no problem but if you plan to use it 3 yrs it is much more safe to buy smartphone with LCD IPS screen. If Samsung want to have a good sale they need to offer S10 in lower price than S9 because people still prefer S8 and S8+. Additional lens or slightly faster SoC will not change the overall trend and sales drop. Even iPhone X is not so popular due to price and Samsung and LG to compete need to make giant sale because everyone know they are extremely overpriced like V30 or G7 or latest Galaxy Note. In some countries like Indonesia or Canada they offer you large LCD TV when you buy a smartphone which is really funny when you do not need it at all. Especially keeping in mind that this is not a gift like they state and calculated in price so why they do not sell a smartphones at lower price? This is insane. Who will buy limited edition of ceramic LG G7 for $1500? Some companies loose mind.

Anecdotal opinions again I see.. quoting old rubbish phones as evidence.. Cool...

This is not an anectode but fact that AMOLED screens in S8 and possibly in S9 have still problem with burn in and please do not tell me that example of S8 in store I saw was just a coincidence or faulty unit. I had the same problem in Lumia 925 few days after end of warranty. Nothing has changed - still the same problems. That is why Apple use a special warranty terms for iPhone X. In Europe Samsung replaced whole Galaxy smartphone for a new one in case of screen burn in issues but now policy is much more strict.

Like FFR mentioned even Samsung followers use brain and count so it is better to buy S8 or S8+. In case of design it is quite funny to observe how Samsung engineers move fingerprint sensor. Asian school of ergonomy. Possibly they graduate from the same university like Sony Xperia XZ2 engineers ;]

problem with that sd card approach is that i have all my music organized by title, artist, album, genre, etc.
makes it easier for me to find them when im looking
