Samsung galaxy S23 and S23 ultra

Make sure you don’t scratch the phone … I did that once with a Motorola dropped it right out of my pocket I was running with it no case lmao

Yeah, be careful. I signed up for the beta and decided no it is not for me but once I signed up it downloaded the beta immediately and the only option I was given was install or delay the update which I did twice and slept past the 3rd time where I now have the beta for OneUI 6. I contacted Samsung support before the beta installed and after over an hour they could not figure out a satisfactory response.

So now the only way to get back to a stable build is to reset the device and roll back using smart switch on my PC. I was trying to avoid this last step.

So far I don't see a lot of big changes and it seems mostly stable. I have already had a few bugs here and there including UI restarting, etc.

I will update what I decide to restore my device or continue with the beta.

What flip phones you taking about in the old days?

Many used the terms Flip and Clamshell erroneously then.

Ex:
Ericsson T-28W “World” and T-36/T-39 were “flip” phones case the flip would close over the keypad.

Motorola’s original Star-TAC and Razr’s and the Samsung feature phones with the same styl where “clamshell” phones as the entire phone closed.

Today those terms have changed all due to marketing.

FYI the “Fold” series and the many competitors like ‘em actually don’t have a class name but I refer to them as Communicators like the Nokia 9000i/9200i/9300/E39 models of yesteryear.

Yeah I’m that old lol.

It has everything exactly the same as the more expensive model except 4gb ram and storage. The processor is the same. The ufs 4.0 storage is the same. The ddr5x is the same speed on both.

So basically you get more storage and more ram. The ram will help keep things in memory but it is the chip that determines how fast a phone is. Obviously if we had less than 8gb ram then I might say otherwise but with 8gb ram I bet in most scenarios you can't tell the difference between the two.

So if you can save a lot of money and get a great phone I would go for it.

Like I said a few times, completely agree! Other than some OS related gripes, this is probably my favorite phone I've ever owned, including iPhones!

In my time with s23 ultra it is maybe the best overall complete package phone out there. I choose pixel over it purely down to the camera being better to me. That said you won’t find a better phone that can do all tasks while being packed with great features.

SD gen 2 is a joy and made the ultra into an incredible battery device. Just a shame they will go backwards next year going back to exynos Here.

Isn't Samsung one of the biggest tech manufacturers on the entire planet? With the various they produce for themselves and other partners.

Or think if they could build a better chipset and rival the competition they can.

Agree 100%. I think it is the best smartphone I have owned regardless of OS. Unfortunately I just like using Pixels more. While the Pixel Fold is my favorite device, I still maintain the S23U is the best device hands down.

I always think that it would be so great to be able to disable literally every Samsung app and just basically make this a Google phone. LOL. I'm sure there's a way with brooding but I'm not willing to go down that route.

There are a lot of Samsung's software features that I couldn't do without. I buy their phones specifically for them.

Yeah I will admit I'm looking for the best of two worlds a little bit. Things like photos I wish I could completely remove the Samsung gallery app, but that doesn't seem to be possible without some workarounds that I'm just not really willing to do.
