I worked for Verizon for 3 years and always renamed LG demo phones to Bootloop.

I will say V60 was the best phone they've ever made IMO but then demo phones I've had bad experiences with all of them including Sammy ...peeps trying to sell phones should make sure they are charged and working properly haha ..any retail store ..

Comparison between the Ultra and Pro Max 14. One comment that’s some nasty flickering on the Ultra screen, glad he tests stuff like that. Also the video taken by the front facing camera looked washed out to me on the Ultra same with the main video. Much of the rest was much of a muchness, except the Ultra was better in the night shot.

I had it for sell for a few days now and no emails from anyone interested in it. Don't blame them either, it's an expensive phone and besides us on forums like this, people usually get phones on a 2-year contract where they're zero dollar.

You need to drop the price at least by 20-25%. Why did you buy it in the first place or why you selling it?

We really thought the fold will kill the S series but i don't think so. No one in my community or friends bought the fold. Everyone has s21's 22u & other, very few ones iphones.

I brought it to replace my Fold 3, but ever since I got my S23 Ultra I haven't it used that much. I thought I would use it as a mini tablet. Even with 25% off the price, it's still $1900 here in Canada.

I don't want to start a FIRE in this community but my LG V60 now has my business sim in it and is with me all the time. It smokes night shots, selfie and main camera of s23, but lets see an update. Regarding ultrawide both throws blows , sometimes LG wins, Sometimes S23. Anyways, since LG is out, i was looking for a new device and got this s23 ultra. Last year exinos s22 ultra i also purchased it,but returned after 3 days,it was so jot and poor battery. Anyways, who doesn't believe me, i ca do a comparison test anytime. I'm hoping s23 ultra next update to improve cameras, the main problem i think is too much compression in the JPG files. 2-4 MB for a photo is so low in my opinion. Maybe they want to show the power of Snapdragon 8 gen 2 wich can compression in so less time a JPG to 2 MB.
And an advice to all of you who think S23 U or iPhone14 pro max has great sound and speakers, trust me they are like 50% behing the LG V60. Spekesrs also. Bluetooth outpalso. 3.5 jack is out of the question as the v60 drives my 1600 euro IEMs Campfire Solaris headphones like no other phone ever made. So don't listen to garbage youtubers who say iPhone 14 pro max or s23 ultra has the best speakers. Trust me BOTH sound TRASH!

How much more pleasing is the color reproduction on the Nokia? Notice over-sharpening on the iPhone.

Sad how chasing pixels and sharpness has led to such little real improvement.

IMO the only current smartphones now that have decent color reproduction and doesn't sharpen into oblivion is the Sony line. They're fantastic.

Well I don't agree that they haven't improved much.... *BUT* if they were going to pick on an older phone to prove the point, the Nokia 808 PureView was an excellent choice. I remember it coming out, and a little later, the Nokia Lumia 1020 with windows mobile which I still love to this day.

A guy at work got the 1020 and was all "this is as good as one of your big slrs".... kinda scoffed until we tried a few tests and yeah it was truly fantastic. Ahead of its time for sure.

Of course... in low light it was rubbish compared to what we have today, dynamic range was great at the time but nothing like as good as today's crop of phones and let's not even bother talking video 🙂

BUT you're right that over processing is definitely a thing nowadays. Not even just oversharpening, though there's penty of that for sure, but playing fast and loose with colour temperature and now, AI REALLY changing things all definitely have huge effects.

Somewhere I have a couple of pixel 7 pro photos taken almost right after each other... in one, the AI has done a brilliant job of making it look like it's from a much more expensive camera, in the other, it's REALLY messed up and blurred half the image because it thought it would be out of focus whilst the top half is over sharpened. A real mess.

I do hope that camera development doesn't slow up and that all we get from now on is similar hardware and more clever AI 🙁 I very much want larger sensors, better lenses etc.

You don't want to start a fire yet you pour gasoline on a already good flame.

If you don't want to start a fire then it is very simple. Stop bringing up your subjective experience that no one else can test or for that matter really cares about. I could talk about the front facing speakers of the Pixel 3XL or original Razer phone which were amazing and say every other phone since is trash and I probably would be right but it doesn't matter because neither phone is being updated or supported or available to buy new. Your phone can still be bought and might get a few more updates but is is basically EOL.

So your choice is to either keep using an obsolete phone without 5g or look at what is available now and compare and contrast the features of phones you can buy now that will be supported for a while. No one is going out to buy your LG. So whatever your experiences or comparisons are really irrelevant and I think that is why you are getting so much push back.

If you were comparing even say a Samsung Galaxy S20FE then you would get a lot less people not taking you seriously.

But that doesn't matter because it seems you do want to start a fire and make people upset they spent so much on the "best" yet it sucks compared with an old discontinued phone.

As others have said use your LG and return your Ultra. Maybe you would be happier with a OnePlus 11 for much less money. But to keep coming on this thread and spouting pointless nonsense is really kind of rude and not extremely helpful.

Of course this is a forum where you are free to do whatever you want within the rules so I am not telling you to stop as I find your posts entertaining. Have a great day and I am interested in what you will eventually do with the Ultra you have.

The fold4 is only selling for $800ish in the USA market now used. Even some lower. Amazon has it for $1200.

Yes you're definitely right that these modern smartphones are leaps and bounds ahead of those older devices under lower light conditions. That's at least something where all this processing is coming in useful.

As I said I think Sony phones seem to strike a good balance with all this AI/processing, plus their camera app is fantastic. I'll be very interested when their new Xperia I comes out.

Yeah I imagine the market of a used phone that's almost 2k is pretty small.

This site would make you think everyone buys the biggest most expensive phone but the most common phone I see while I'm out is a regular iPhone. Not the big one, and not the Pro.

Yes, I was surprised I was able to sell my iPhone 14 Pro Max, we'll see if I can sell my Fold 4 or not. I'm thinking of doing some sort of trade for a Pixel 7 series.

When I sell phones (which is very frequently), I never make a profit unless it's a phone that I had picked up used to flip or got on a good deal. The iPhone is the easiest to make remotely close to what I paid for it.

I sold my 14 Pro (128GB, Deep Purple, Unlocked) for $905 before fees and stuff on eBay.

I unfortunately didn’t get to put the screen protector on my husband’s S23 Ultra yet. He was not willing to put it down. 😆

We went out to dinner and we went to a place where we always notoriously lose any meaningful AT&T connectivity on our iPhones. We may see 2 bars of signal but web pages load with such excruciating slowness it’s pointless to try and look up the movie schedule at the local multiplex cinema for example.

So he gets out that Lime Green monster and lo and behold connectivity is super fast and flawless. 😯 He did a speed test. I’m afraid I don’t know what he got but he was giddy about whatever he got. Meanwhile I on my 14 Pro Max and another member of our party on a 14 Pro and his own iPhone 14 Pro Max were dead. Just dead. Couldn’t load jack diddly squat and frankly at that particular location never can. We always thought it was an AT&T dead zone or something.

I don’t think my S22 Ultra ever did well there either. I didn’t have it with me right then to test but I’ll take it next time I go. I am peacefully resigned to staying on it and actually bought a couple of new cases for it and a new packet of screen protectors.

I’ll do all my screen protector application work together.

Anyway, wow, well done Samsung 23 series!

I’m hoping at some point they issue some sort of accessibility update that will allow me to use the new display even if it costs battery life. I noticed the S23 Ultra has some extra display settings the S22 Ultra didn’t have. Unfortunately they don’t help my problem.

But I do believe being an Asian company, Samsung is more aware of pwm effects on eye health. Chinese are aware and working on it and Samsung is cognizant of what their Chinese competitors are doing.

So I’ll stay hopeful. I can’t overstay my return period on this particular phone but I would be willing to repurchase it in the future if something changes. I may even consider the s23 Plus. Because I do dislike being without connectivity at some of my favorite hangouts.

We were all just stunned and impressed when my husband’s phone JUST WORKED. 🤣

I sold my 14 Pro Max 128GB unlocked for $1300. I'm sure I'll eventually find a buyer, I usually do.

The battery with the Snapdragon 8 gen 2 is just insane on these phones. I haven't charged my S23U since Friday afternoon and still at 50%

Not a heavy user then. There hasn't been a phone made yet that I haven't needed to charge at least once a day.

Me neither actually. Used a friend's Xperia 1 IV a few times just to try out the camera app. Was also very surprised that it had a dedicated shutter button with half press. Comfortable aspect ratio too. I've gotta say I'm quite relieved Snapdragon has somewhat caught up to Apple with the 8 gen 2, if only the Sony Xperia 1 line wasn't so damn expensive.

I was a bit shocked to see by that Zolotech video that the Ultra has a very noticeable screen flicker, even MB commented that all the S23s appear to have a flicker to their screens. Not very good by Samsung especially for those susceptible to such things such as myself.

I wonder if locking the screen as I’ve done with my 13 Pro to 60Hz as I did with mine, would help or if this issue isn’t fixable that way or at all by the customer.
