I like this screen display. (Can you really pick up fishes like that)

Don't care and I like my pocket to not breathe fire and smoke

This is firmly baked into our minds, and every single Samsung phone now we will use this as a reason...

The media strikes again.

I had a Galaxy S7 Edge for about 6 months. It was a really nice design, Samsung finally made a non plasticky phone! While the rounded edges took some getting used to I found that even though it had the same screen size of my outgoing iPhone 6 plus I missed the extra physical size due to the curvature of the edges making the phone slimmer.

Lastly I got sick of Android and missed the spit and polish of iOS so I sold it and bought an iPhone 7 Plus. This was my third experiment with trying Android and iOS and I'm done with Android.

Samsung always gains the upper hand over Apple with its spring phone releases. I don't know why Cupertino doesn't bring the iPhone launch date forward...
Doesn't be matter that they announce first. Everyone knows they feel out what Apple's design will be and then try to beat that to market. That's one of the ways this morally bankrupt corporation works. Better for Apple to have the last word.

Yes I agree. I was yearning over the Galaxy S7 Edge before I picked up my iPhone 7 Plus. It physically hurt to buy something I knew was inferior in terms of hardware. But...it's just iOS man. I need iOS in my life.

Plus I hate Samsung as a company, regardless of the build quality of their devices.

Well just to reassure you that the iPhone is quite superior in hardware! It has double the per-core performance, much faster Flash... even the 6S runs circles around the S7 when it comes to hardware grunt and OS butteryness. :)

It's a bit of an irony. When it comes to MacBooks, people don't care about aesethetics and consider innovation as extra hardware performance, whilst it's the other way around on the iPhones.

I can understand why of course; one's a phone, the other's a computer. Still, it's funny to think about.

Seriously, if next iPhone isn't completely new design and major advancement from iPhone 6/6plus-7/7plus then Android will take gargantuan lead over iOS. Even now iPhones market share is looking more and more like Mac vs. Windows situation and we know what developers think about shrinking sales opportunities. I truly hope Apple will release totally re-designed flag ship iPhone and also at least one dirt cheap model so that iOS can truly challenge Anroid in every possible market. Dirt cheap models are important for the future of iOS.

First of all... "market share" is a company's percentage of ALL sales from the previous quarter.

For instance... Apple sold 77 million iPhones last quarter out of 431 million total smartphones.

That gave the iPhone 17.9% market share last quarter.

But there's not a direct link between market share and developer interest. If there was... no developers would even bother making apps for the iPhone since it has NEVER had a significant market share. Right?

You're forgetting "installed base" which is the number of iPhones out in the world right now.

And that number is closer to 700 million iPhones on Earth. And that's what gets developers excited.

Second of all... you're also forgetting how the App Store grew even when the iPhones didn't have much market share OR installed base.

Why would any developer build apps for the iPhone in 2008 when there were barely 10 million iPhones out in the world?

Answer: they knew they would make money.

And over the last 9 years... it didn't seems to matter what the iPhone's market share or installed base was. The developers built apps for the iPhones whether it was a little or a lot.

I see your point... you think if the iPhone gets boring there will be fewer people buying them and fewer iPhones on Earth and developers will lose interest.

But here's my point... developers made apps for the iPhone when it had 5% market share and 20% market share.

And similarly... developers made apps for the iPhone when there were 20 million iPhones on Earth and when there were 700 million iPhones on Earth.

I cannot predict the future and thus cannot predict iPhone sales... but I'm having a hard time imagining a mass exodus of iPhone developers.

Developers were in the App Store when there weren't many iPhones in the world... so why wouldn't they still be there if there are fewer iPhones in the world in the future?

Whew. There it is. Only 12 posts in.

Because they're too dependent on Samsung tech to built their phones. Except from the A chips (which are cheaper to produce) all inner parts are third party, mostly Samsung. Apple should upgrade its SE by now and not only more ram.

I fully devote to the iPhone and other Apple devices. That said, give Credit to where it's due, Samsung's Galaxy line has its advantages over the iPhone in terms of hardware and software as well. In some respects, the iPhone is stagnant in terms of hardware design, where as the Galaxy has been fairly dynamic this last year, aside from the Note debacle.

The Galaxy has its pitfalls, but the iPhone is far from leaps and bounds over the Galaxy. Speed and fluidity of the OS is noticeable, but that doesn't change a three-year design with incremental features updates (Speakers, haptic home button, etc). I'm not degrading the iPhone, but those are obvious reasons I stated.

Is that why the iOS App Store is earning more than twice that of the android App Store?

Well it's not the iPhone 8, so no Evan, it's not what we're waiting for.

Oh and I hope they've tested the battery this year.

I have an iPhone since 2007, but I am not a stupid fanboy. It looks good and I feel like the iPhone magic is wearing down. Mainly because of iOS. Apple is focused on making bigger emojis instead of caring about PRO users in iPad for example. Also, I have been previously banned on this forum for posting this, just to know this website is kind of a Apple fanboy dictator and I don't care be banned again :) : ""Apple, you are drunk.Go home." and "They should cancel the event and just start selling the new iPhone. We pretty much know everything already."
My main complaint with Apple is that it has gotten into the practice of announcing product way before its availability. Usually its months before a product is available (i.e. AirPods) Apple Watch etc. Then after waiting for the fabricated production delays to clear up Apple releases a so-so product.

Same thing with changes to OS X & IO, announced months in advance. In this case I can understand some lead time for app developers to get up to speed.

Inferior to what? You mean the slower performance and worse camera? Last time I checked the iPhone's display was even rated as one of the best if not the best.

People with no understanding of technology shouldn't be allowed to comment here at all. Your post is based on "Samsung 8GB ram, iPhone 3GB" Samsung must have the better specs.

A person with deeper knowledge of the matter will tell you that most android phones are quite wasteful in using their resources and can't even take advantage of them.

In a real-world speed comparison, the iPhone 7 probably still bests any other phone And I wouldn't be surprised if this was still the case when the new Samsung comes out.

It is tiring to see how people look at synthetic benchmarks which is like driving a golden Ferrari - a glorified penis extension.

That is one beautiful looking phone.
If they actually made it the physical size of the 4.7 inch iPhone it would be perfect.

But iOS is so hardwired into my everyday life that it would be near impossible to switch to android.
That said, considering the sheer amount of money I'd save by going to android, having a better screen and a better camera might actually make me do it. In the end, it'll be up to Apple. If their next phone doesn't finally deliver in terms of what all the mock-ups make us wish for (let alone if all the rumors of an astronomical price tag are true), then maybe the time will be right. If only they brought iMessage to android.

Market share is an important metric but not the only one. You have to look at iPhone sales on their own merit. It isn't as if developers don't see a profitable market in iPhones. Sales aren't shrinking (even if Android is growing faster), and iPhone users still buy more apps per person. It's really almost nothing like the Mac vs. Windows situation.

anyone else bothered by the stupid curved corners on the display? feels like it would look nicer if they just made the corners flat, almost making the corners disappear to the left and right edges

Agreed, but ignoring looks and usability: Now you can drop your phone on it's edge and break it too. :(

Seems like a dumb design "feature" for a portable electronics device.
