Apple should strategically release bad, horrendous product ideas so that Samsung will waste their time creating it. It could be a game to see how gullible they can be. e.g Apple is rumored to be developing an iblender...

I still think the 12 inch display will be for a Macbook Air Retina

Yes... as the Macbook Air is the "consumer" Apple laptop, it could probably come equipped with touchscreen support. Also, chances are that users won't whine about yellow tinted or image retained displays as they do with rMBP.

Probably because the people who are griping about that spent nearly $2000, and expect it to work perfectly, while people buying a less expensive Air might be a little more lax about that stuff.

Yes, this is the case. I paid around US$ 3200,00 for my early-2013 rMBP in Dec/2013 on a showroom from an authorized Apple dealer in Brazil. That is, if it was a brand new one it would cost around US$ 4000,00. That is, I paid a premium price for an image retained rMBP. Just got a screen replacement, but now it has the yellow tint. I'm planning living with yellowing for some time. Maybe in the next year, after buying Apple Care, I'll try a new replacement... hopefully these IPS screens will be better in 2015.

I can control my Apple TV 3 with my iPhone and iPad. I can airplay my video content to the tv as well with my iPhone, which I do a lot if I have not loaded the movie or show into iTunes yet. The only advantage I see at the moment for getting a samsung model phone would be the larger screen. I keep playing with the idea though to switch from my iPhone to a samsung galaxy phone though. I was thinking about doing it next year after we find out if the new iPhone 6 will have a larger screen. If it doesn't then I might try switching then.

Still not giving up my iPad though.

I tried that and bought a note 3. I lasted 9 days. Returned it and got a 5s. The only thing I liked was the large screen. Here's hoping (not holding my breath) for a 5.7" iPhone 6.

Via wifi or IR blaster?

With my Note 3 and Smart IR Remote, I can control SLR cameras, tv's, blu ray players, heatpumps etc.....

I'll unlikely go back to a smaller screen, then again, I have normal sized hands.

Wifi. No r blaster on iPhone. I like it though because I can control the ATV from another room. Handy when I am in the bedroom and my 4 yr old tells me the movie she was watching ended. Then I just use the remote app to select another one.

The only reason why the first Samsung smart watch was a dud was because of the price and compatibility with only one device out the gate. The product is usable and Samsung has been updating features and compatibility with other Samsung devices. I personally don’t want it unless the price is $100 or below for use with my Note 3. It will take about 2 revisions for their watch to hit that price point. The other issue is that it’s only compatible with Samsung devices. But if/when Apple releases their version of a smart watch I doubt it would work with Android devices so you really can’t knock points off unless you do the same for Apple. And if Apple prices the watch at $300 it would be a dud as well. Price is everything.
I believe that companies such as Google and pebble can make a cross platform wearable at an affordable price. Apple will not go cross platform and they will not allow a Samsung to release apps for this compatibility.

When I mentioned compatibility as a problem, I was talking specifically about the fact that Galaxy Gear is only usable with a Note 3. Why should the product require a smartphone to work in the first place? And I never said anything about it being compatible only with Samsung devices. I was criticizing the fact that the Gear works only with one particular device in the entire Samsung product line, one that's not even owned by the majority of users. It would have been smarter to make it compatible with Samsung devices that are much more common.

And you're saying that it will take 2 revisions for Samsung to get the price below $100. If that's case, what reason does a prospective customer have to buy the Galaxy Gear? If customers have a strong reason to believe the price will be lower in a couple more revisions, Samsung is doing itself no favors in releasing a product before that, because no one is going to buy it.

It may well be that the only issues facing the Galaxy Gear were price and compatibility with only one device right out of the gate. Both of these are fixable problems that could have been addressed before releasing the Gear to the public. Samsung would have been better served to wait.

You should perhaps get in the habit of fact-checking your posts. The above paragraph is embarrassingly inaccurate.

Hint: The Galaxy Gear is "compatible with the Galaxy S3, the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy Note 2, the Galaxy S4 Mini, the Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Mega 5.8." It is also compatible with the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1 and, of course with the Note 3.

(Unofficially it is compatible with the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.)

But don't let facts stop the ranting...
