samsung has been killing apple in the design department since the s6 edge. I'm glad Samsung is not following this stupid notch trend cause the camera punch out is a lot better looking. the status icons will just be pushed off to the right of the camera. if the s10 looks like this with no chin, I'm all in!!!

Edge is pure crap, having a display on the side for what, distorts as well, and then the back of Samsung phones, Fugly.
They haven't been selling well last year, Samsung is the loser here, but whatever, I don't care.

iPhone is the only phone currently on the market, that doesnt have a chin. And it's been like that for over a year now, and no other manufacturer has even come close to mass producing a phone without a chin.

The FCC is strongly pushing cell phone manufacturers into unlocking the FM chip that is within nearly every cell phone for emergency information in the case of natural disasters when cell service is overloaded or out of service, but a radio station might still be on the air with life saving news.

What people are missing about this is that this gives Apple and now Samsung and others an excuse to say, "Mr. FCC Chairman, we cannot enable the free FM radio. As you can see there is no headphone jack/antenna line anymore." Tim Cook himself has been caught lying about the FM chip several times and even caught by the NAB in tests of iPhones to prove him wrong to the FCC.

Obviously, the cell phone manufacturers are beholden to the carriers who do not want this FREE feature and Apple obviously sells music and doesn't want free music available.

I believe there should be a anti-trust investigation of several companies for this. Maybe the rest of the world doesn't see this as a big deal, but Americans are used to free over the air TV and AM/FM radio and more people are turning back to over the air TV of late, the so called cord-cutters. This would be the equivalent of all of the TV manufacturers only making TVs that only get Pay channels.

And finally, the question begs. What will happen when Next Generation TV that is being tested on cell phone equipment now rolls out? In America, it will also be FREE TV on a cell phone with no data charges. Will the cell phone manufacturers and carriers prevent it on their phones too? Once again, Apple has a conflict of interest in this matter too.
Cord cutters aren't't going OTA. They're going to streaming services through the internet.

I find the zealotry from some in favour of removing choice bizzarre. I’ll prefer the wiser older technology until the childish new technology grows up a bit more. Newer isn’t always better.

Bluetooth headphones have their place, but wired is still better, and people are applauding parity of choice being removed. smh.

I still don't get people being upset about this. I moved the bluetooth headphones way before Apple dropped the jack. Samsung making fun of Apple for doing so is seriously flawed marketing strategy. It's low, it's proving desperation for attention while acting overly cocky. Last time I checked Samsung was the only brand named and shamed in airline announcements all over the world for their exploding phones. Their only innovation in the phone market is the "curved screen", which if you ask me is hardly even a novelty and definitely doesn't provide any benefit to the user whatsoever.

I am not an audiophile by any means but I do hear a big difference between wired and blue tooth headphones. I am holding on to my 6S+ with pure dorm grip until it dies..

Maybe you haven't tried proper bluetooth headphones. Also, keep in mind that bluetooth 5 is here, which will further help the case of bluetooth audio gear in general.

Nope, he isn't and I am not bothered, he clearly was though, enough to make an account and post here.;)
Taking in consideration that that's the only thing you got from what he wrote it's obvious you are bothered by what he said.
And he is right about what he said. I'm sure you would have corrected him if he would have wrote anything wrong.

Major difference: Samsung waited to the options of headphones was bigger and more broadly accepted. Apple just fired the gun and gave the users the middle finger salute on their way out of the Apple store. SMH.

It's a somewhat ridiculous post considering this is a Samsung nobody cares about (admitting you even care about any Samsung phone). This phone is a nobody in Samsung's line.

Still, perhaps all that gloating text can be kept for the Galaxy S10 unveiling.

This isn't even a flagship.

Right, it’s not. The title of the article makes it seem somewhat like it is by stating “Samsung kills headphone jack in latest...”, which this phone is likely paving the way for that the ‘true flagships’ with the S10/Note 10 will also not include the 3.5 Jack either. This particular model phone is more geared towards other merging markets, but should be less of a ‘shock’ once the S10 is announced somewhere around February that it likely will not include the 3.5 Jack either.

Arrrrggghhhh goddammit Samsung. You just had to cave. Called it years ago, but still, could have proven me wrong...

This is why people get annoyed with Apple, as they set the trends and every Android manufacturer follows them like sheep. I think that leaves pretty much nothing now with a headphone jack and no notch, despite countless vocal people wanting that :/

I see "camera poking a hole through the screen" is the new trend now... I think I prefer the notch...

I still don't understand how people STILL don't have wireless headphones of any kind by now... It's basically 2019 ffs

I tried AirPods and a whole host of other wireless EarPods at my local Bic Camera store, and none of them fitted my ears well enough. AirPods especially, with their 'one size fits all' approach, were a terrible fit. They would slide out within 10-15 seconds while standing still. Walking or running would probably shake them out in seconds. Basically unusable. Not only that, but the fact that after 12-16 months of use the batteries can barely hold a charge, makes them basically a disposable product. At $150 a pop, and with no better solution forthcoming form Apple, I'll instead suffer the frustration of Apple's misguided "courage".
