Some companies don't understand the point of competition, and waste resources just to be named #1 any way they can. The point is profit, not sales, not market share. This is what Apple understood and never fought with Windows to take maximum market share.

That being said, the Samsung phone is a very good phone, maybe better than the iphone, but I rather be in the Apple "Just Works" ecosystem

Well, there are wireless car chargers. I have one that I use with my Nexus 5. It's quite effortless, I just put the phone down and it starts charging. No need to hunt for the charging cable and have it tangle around the gear stick.

What about the cable for the wireless charger?

Some time ago my sisters iPhone 5s was stolen. Her provider didn't cover a replacement for some reason and she couldn't afford a new iPhone herself. So she decided to get something cheaper. And that was the Samsung Galaxy S4. She liked it the first few weeks. But then, she completely regretted it. I've seen her many times smashing it to the table because of crashes, slowness and other issues. She hates the device. I mean, it's not new to me that Samsung users hate the device they use. But seeing my sister this desperate to get back to iPhone, that's something.

And yes, she has just ordered herself an iPhone 6. So she will enjoy the incredible performance without any lag, it works together with her MacBook Pro thanks to Continuity, and she will get the latest updates once they are out. I feel happy for her.

You know, she promised me we are going to destroy that Galaxy S4 once she has that iPhone 6. Really looking forward to that! Can't wait to kick that piece of junk. :p
Smashing it to the table because of crashes?
She needs help.

When on company dominates, the trailers have a progression path.

1) try and make your product look like the best
2) add features that the best doesn't have and make commercials emphasizing your better features
3) make commercials mocking the best using any and all methods
4) if your sales continue to lag, release your product before the best in an attempt to boost sales
5) give product away

I order mine, I just put in some random information and used my $500 credit limit card for that $1 charge. If don't return the phone I wonder how they will go after me.
They will attempt to put an pre-approval on your card for the full price. When they fail to get that they will not approve your test drive. For those that it is approved they will be unable to use that proportion of their card limit for the duration of the test drive. Samsung can at any time request that money and get it without further say so from you. That's what pre-approval is all about.

The iPhone has always sold well due to the tight nitch following that it has. It's no surprise in any way. So for the iOS lovers, there's really no competition for Apple because there's not other choice. Whereas, Samsung is one of many in the Android market so there's a lot of competition going on there. Regardless, they are still huge and what a lot of Apple lovers fail to see is how we're all related in one way or another. It's undeniable.

So it doesn't matter if Samsung Phone sales are up and down, because they are benefiting from the success of Apple with the iPhone, regardless.

Samsung and its fellow countryman of a cousin (LG) makes up a large portion of Apple products DNA.

1. iPhone's Memory, Motherboard and Chipset = Made by: Samsung.
2. iPhone's IPS Display = Made by: LG and/or Sharp. (Samsung owns a large chunk of Sharp)
3. iPhone's Battery Cell = Made by: LG.
4. iPhone's Touch Display Technology = Invented and sold to Apple by a Korean genius, which that same technology is now being used in the US military.
5. iPhone's A8 CPU = Made: by Samsung.

6. All the new A9 Chipsets will be made by Samsung. (Used in iPads, iPhones etc...)
7. Samsung will also be making all of SnapDragon's 820 Mobile Phone CPU.

As you can see, the better Apple does = the better Samsung does as well. The mobile division is only a portion of the corporate conglomerate.

I don't think a lot of Apple fanatics know this....yet a lot of folks on here are spilling so much unnecessary hatred without realizing that the very iPhone or Apple device we're using is well....pretty much Made by....Samsung.

They are a global leader in Screen and Memory technology among many other things.

So we can hate all we want, but just remember, at the end of the day it's like hating on your own cousin....same blood line whether we like it or not.

I love my Apple (As you can see from my sig.) and me personally, I just choose to keep it real and be thankful for anyone who helps make it the amazing product it is.

Well you would think that with all the billions of dollars Apple buys from samsung, as a business partner they wouldn't stab them in the back by deliberately stealing their ideas, but this is what samsung do to everyone.

That said, you're the only one misdirecting the conversation. Everybody else is talking about the trial program and the differences between phones. Nobody has turned this into a flame war, until you started.

Sure... never said it wasn't convenient except when you're traveling or in your car... then you're going to want a cable anyway so you're not carrying a charging pad and you can just plug in to the car USB or the wall socket. For me, it wouldn't be a feature that would make me purchase a phone... but would be nice for at home.

Well I'd prefer to avoid all the hassle with cables in the car. My phone connects to the car audio system via Bluetooth so charging the phone is the only occasion when I need to plug it in while driving. I'd rather just put the phone into a car mount equipped with wireless charging and be done with it.

Really? You think Apple didn't go after Microsoft? Maybe you missed the whole I'm a Mac, I'm a PC campaign. If that wasn't fighting over marketshare with Microsoft, I really don't know what is. And the point is a combination of the three. It's not one vs all the others. Not in good business anyway.

And lastly - no phone, toaster, car, etc "just works." Every device has has its quirks. And every device has a learning curve. Last time I checked, a lot of iCloud services were having issues. Just works? ;)

not really a fan of the curved display, but wireless charging..... someone is doing things right... (…)
Yes, my thoughts, too. Curved edges? A gimmick, I guess. And the charging–well, Apple did it with the watch now, and maybe with iPhone7(?…) later ? would be great..

Who needs a Mac/iPad when you have a Note 5
Apple is releasing Apple Music to Android
Samsung pay is better than Apple Pay
Apple Watch???? Even Apple users refuse to buy it.

Samsung pay isn't better at all. Its less secure and it tracks your purchases. When asked what samsung does with this data, they wouldn't say. And you trust them? More fool you.

Bring It On. I'd try it. I mean, it does have all the latest technology before Apple does.
Technologically wise it might be true … but it is still SamsDroid … not sure, if ANY hardware would be reason enough to switch =:-/

Sure, they only allow that so that once you do it and realize your old device is now slow as molasses and there is no going back, your only recourse is to buy a new model. CHA-CHING!

And if you want the latest android software you can't get on your existing phone, you have to buy another one. We know who is fleecing the customer by forcing them to buy a new phone. My old 4S has worked smooth as silk on iOS 8. My 2nd gen iPad doesn't skip a beat on it either. Straw man argument right there.

Sold out apparently. Damn it. I wanted to use my daughter's iP6 to get a test drive on the Note 5. I usually skip a generation of hardware so my next phone would be an S7 or something from LG or Motorola. I would love to have compared my S5 to the Note 5 with Apex Launcher. Hopefully they will reopen the offer.

I know, I just don't see the relevance of your point.

To me, I don't care how well or poorly Samsung is doing as a whole. All I am concerned with is its mobile division, since that is competing with Apple the most directly. When people gloat about Samsung's sales falling, they are clearly referring only to its smartphone branch, and not Samsung in its entirety. Considering all the flak I used to get at Cnet from all the trolls proclaiming how Samsung would dethrone Apple in the smartphone arena, there is some grim satisfaction in bearing witness to Apple ascending all the way to the top, even as Samsung slowly but surely plummets all the way to the bottom.

Likewise, I don't care who makes the parts, all I care is that Apple is able to put them together in a manner that results in the best possible user experience for me. What Samsung wants to do with their parts in their own time is their problem.

Its a pretty easy decision if you ask me.. Why not try it out for $1 for 30 days. If you do it now, by the time the test drive is over, the new iphones will be out (hopefully)! It's something to pass the time and only costs $1!

But who wants to use Android/Samsung? Even if they paid me I would use my iPhone still and use the S5 or S6 as a TV remote.

Go away, you know what ‘if any’ means.

Someone has anger issues I see. You're being very touchy about one comment. You know that term is used as hyperbole all the time, but you can't. Get over it, then you can "go away" too.

I've used the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and I can safely say it's better than the iPhone 6+ that my G/F owns. The screen is MENTAL! It looks like you're looking at a photograph, it's so dense, so high resolution, the colours are much better and it gives you an option of saturation or realistic which is great. It's easily twice as bright as the 6+, you can shine a light directly at it and you can still read it perfectly... just crazy how good that screen is. I love the black blacks, when you directly compare the iPhone to that, you notice all the light bleed of the LCD.

I tried the loud speaker which was much louder than the 6+ and I also tried the camera, which took much better shots.. though that isn't surprising at all considering it's a larger sensor, better lens and higher MP count and it was also faster.

Apple have real competition on their hands with Samsung, I'm not gonna buy one because it doesn't interest me, but man, one hell of a phone.

+ Android didn't lag on it one bit and the new Touchwiz looks like Stock Android, but you can just use launchers on Android any ways.

For me though, I'm waiting to see what Microsoft and Apple do, still holding out hope for a Nokia 1030.
Subjectively rubbish comment.
