She might have had a defective unit. I owned an S4 for 2 years and never had a single issue with it. Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal evidence. I have no doubt your story is true.. But it's not necc the full picture. Neither is mine.

Interesting that she was smashing it against the table out of frustration and you're looking forward to destroying a piece of electronics. You both seem to have similar anger issues - at least that's how it reads.
I do understand it might be a defective unit she has, especially considering a few others in my area with the same phone don't have these problems. But still it just doesn't work for her. See, it's not only the performance. I mentioned as the most important reason for her to switch back to iPhone.

I can assure you we haven't any anger issues. But it's just that phone of her. I've tried it a few times (to help her finding out if those issues could be fixed), but after a few crashes of some apps I gave it back to her and said it can't be fixed this way. She should have gone to the provider for an replacement. But she doesn't feel that way, since it's also Android in general she hates. So even if she'd get a new one, she would still want to go to iPhone. Won't change a bit.

By the way, she doesn't really smash the thing to the table. But you should get my point. If there's an issues going on for minutes she can't seem to get rid of, she drops it a bit on the table. That's normal. You can't call that an anger issue, it's just frustration. And me wanting to kick it doesn't have anything to do with that either. It's just me having fun. And she'll have fun too. We're going to film it with our iPhone. :)

Well, there are wireless car chargers. I have one that I use with my Nexus 5. It's quite effortless, I just put the phone down and it starts charging. No need to hunt for the charging cable and have it tangle around the gear stick.

I just dock my iPhone to my clock radio every night so it's a non-issue for me personally.

That said, wireless charging would be nice built into the base of the iMac. Just place an iPhone, iPod, magic mouse or wireless keyboard there and they recharge. I think that I saw where a Windows based iMac-style computer is doing something similar to that. It's not a game-changer by any means, but would be useful.

They will issue you a trial number that's owned by Samsung. You will need to setup call forwarding if you'd like to receive calls on your trial device.
Call forwarding won't help with text messages, though. I guess this isn't meant to replace your iPhone for 30 days, but instead to just use/try/play with a Samsung phone for 30 days.

Unfortunately, I think unless you use it as your main phone for 30 days (with your number) you tend to not use it at all, and the trial just doesn't work.

Not even for a dollar.

Give me one for free and I'll use it as toilet paper. Trashy, cheap, useless, buggy, virus infested, bloatware filled devices.

Just signed up. Will forward my Google Voice number to new Samsung phone. Was going to port my GV number to a new VZW line anyways when the new iPhone 6S came out (my GV number, that I VERY rarely use, has a very "close" numbering scheme to my current VZW number)...

It won't work well as toilet paper. Not absorbent enough, and your butt will stink. Also, once you flush it, you'll owe them the full replacement fee, so I advise you not to bother. :)

Which phone? All of them except the S6 Edge (not the plus) are unavailable on all the carriers (except for maybe Sprint, which I didn't even bother checking).

Samsung makes decent hardware, but it is more, much more than that: Samsung has eliminated some of their hardware advantages by removing key differentiating features (removable battery, memory card slot, IR blaster, etc.), so what's left? A better looking screen? That's nice, but lets not forget that this is about more than the phone - it is about an entire ecosystem. If your only exposure to Apple is the iPhone, then switching to the Android platform probably isn't that big a deal, but when your using other hardware (iMac, Apple TV, iTunes, etc.) the phone becomes a natural extension of the unification of these devices. Finally, there is something to be said for the efficiency and performance that comes as a result of being both the hardware and software manufacturer.

If I was someone that wanted the latest features and to tinker with my phone (e.g. rooting it and trying to see just how far I could push it) the Android platform would already be my platform. To motivate me to move away from the comfort of the Apple ecosystem, it will require more than a nice screen.

Well when I'm done with any device - I just donate it, recycle it or put it on a shelf. I don't destroy it - let alone "film" it. To me that's an indication of someone too emotionally attached to a piece of electronics. To each their own.

I order mine, I just put in some random information and used my $500 credit limit card for that $1 charge. If don't return the phone I wonder how they will go after me.

Presumably your credit card is tied to you, so they'll be able to trash your credit score and prevent you from ever getting a loan or mortgage or any other financing.

They do give people a free chance to try their phones and truly know how much it really sucks and how badly they will hate it. It looks like a smart move, but it is not. It's like a Korean car company offering a Porsche owner a free trial time, and we can guess how it will end. But I admit that it is an innovative move:)
If Hyundai were the company making phones, trying to compete with Apple, I'll bet they wouldn't need a $1 free month trial. They'd just be competing more successfully.

I don't understand how this is supposed to work.. wouldn't it require an activation fee from the carrier?.. and it would be the odd man out of my ecosystem, I wouldn't be able to sync across all my other devices.. what about iBooks? iTunes? Contacts? Calendar? iCloud? Mac Mail? Photos?

Seems like more work and inconvenience in my case.

I'm confused...

These are the same phones that people are saying Samsung failed with.

No removable batteries, no SD cards, poor battery life, etc. Samsung lost a lot of fans with those poor decisions.

So what is Samsung suggesting... that the only people left who would be remotely interested in these phones are iPhone owners?

And after they try it for 30 days they'll get hooked?

Hooked to getting charged on their credit cards for it and not being able to return it.
"Oh! You scratched it! Now you have to pay for it!"

Sure... never said it wasn't convenient except when you're traveling or in your car... then you're going to want a cable anyway so you're not carrying a charging pad and you can just plug in to the car USB or the wall socket. For me, it wouldn't be a feature that would make me purchase a phone... but would be nice for at home.

I may do this once the 6S+ arrives. Between the Note 5 and the 6S+ will be my next phone. I'm going to a 3 year upgrade plan. Annual phones don't have the "pop" they once had. We've reached that point already.

Pls edit your post and delete the, ‘……..if any’, part. I am considering a switch, which makes your post inaccurate.

If is a supposition, so in context he's quite entitled to use it. There's no assumption of fact. No need to be touchy about it.
