So 2 iOS devices are comparible to every single Android device now? Also not all iOS devices are updated, unlike Nexus devices which are. In fact Android supports Nexus devices better then Apple supports iOS devices.

If you had out Samsung instead of the generilastion Android in you're post you would have been correct.
What iOS devices aren't support. The iPhone 4s and iPad 2 are getting iOS 9.. Those are 4+ years old.. NM I see you were just making things up by your last sentence.

This is going to be a waste of time for samsung. It will give Iphone owners even more of a reason to not switch to android once those 30 days are done.

If Samsung can make its Android OS stable, then it's a good possibility of many people to possibly move to its Samsung Android phones. Despite the hardware features, the Android OS is still buggy and lacking in ease of use. The average person doesn't want to fiddle around with apps but want an OS that's stable and easy to use, which iOS is, for the most part. iOS 8.x still is very buggy for many iPhone users!

I have no idea what you're talking about. My Samsung phone has no stability issues.

More of a reason? Most likely if they have that bad of an experience (which is subjective) they wouldn't have switched either way - so Samsung isn't going to "lose" anything.

you're lucky. My S6 has been buggy mess. Though the July kernel update I got fixed a lot of the stability issues I was having.

I'm still having quite a bit of noticeable frame drops on the UI within the first few seconds of wake up. And there's a lot of slowness when relaunching applications.

Touchwiz still has serious problems. Coming from a nexus device running stock 5.1.1 to the S6 with 5.1.1 touchwiz, there is a dramatic and perceivable performance hit that just shouldn't exist considering the hardware this thing is packing.

I really, REALLY hope that CMod will launch a version for the S6. Cause Touchwiz alone might have me going back to the 2015 nexus device when launched

That is a good point. Edit: Although, I guess my thought was that you can pick it up while its charging, thus interrupting its charging, use it for a minute and then put it back down to charge again and there wouldn't be any of that tugging going on.

Fair point, but it that would make the charging time "longer". I for one, don't like to unplug my device until it reaches 100% unless I absolutely have to. Call it my OCD, (I know it doesn't ruin anything), but oh well. So that would kind of suck if you get a text trying to lean over the screen and respond while its charging lol. Again I know thats just me, but thats why wireless charging won't work for me.

Oops, forgot to multi-quote!

Should i get this? i really want to try it out but my upgrade isnt until 2017. and if i want to return it early how can i do it

Well I don't have the S6 - so that's helpful info as I try and determine what my next phone is going to be next month ;)

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely Love the phone. There's not a single phone out there with a screen that rivals it. The Camera is absolutely a pleasure to use (Even the selfie camera is great). the performance of app's and games is stunning.

The problem is, despite all the hardware chops, Touchwiz still just gets in the way of itself. The memory management is buggy and you'll find things reloading themselves that just should never have left memory. iPhone users complain about having to constantly have Safari reload webpages, Well, Same thing happens in Chrome on the S6.

There are UI frame drops, more noticable when waking the phone and it smooths out, but its still noticable.

Battery life is, inconsistent. Some days I can get 5 hours on screen time and 15 hours between charges, then somdays i'm out of juice after 8 hours and 3 hours onscreen time.

Sometimes Apps take a few seconds to load. Especially if its an app that i had already opened recently.

once a week, I have to reboot the phone. Something is causing some form of memory leak. its noticable when I press the homescreen button, and my homescreen + widgets take up to 5 seconds to draw.

After a reboot, some default Apps are reset: for example, your default music player is always samsung player. So, for example, I reboot my phone, unless I conciously start Play music, my blutooth connects and Samsung player starts, Every time.

As i've said, i've used Stock Android as well on other devices. And Had NONE of these issues on anything running stock, or Cyanogen. My 2 year old nexus 5 running 5.1.1 just felt smoother overall.

Which sucks, Because the hardware for the S6 is gorgeous. the in hand feel is fantastic, and the actual performance when Touchwiz isn't getting in the way is fantastic.

Which is going to only backfire IMHO on this promotion. Samsung still is going to have work to be done to convince iPhone users to switch. IPhone users already have a great screen, great camera. the main things people notice. So software issues and glitches, that don't immediately make things more enjoyable than using iOS isn't going to win people over.

Still unavailable for me? Is that the case with everyone else?

This seems to be the norm for most people. I tried when I first read this article and they're "sold out" of all three devices for AT&T. I've checked a few times since with the same result.

I order mine, I just put in some random information and used my $500 credit limit card for that $1 charge. If don't return the phone I wonder how they will go after me.

Thats not how a credit hold works. You would see a pending but not completed transaction that would reduce the available credit. In your case your card would be declined.

One of the things that keeps me Android is being able to have control over default apps. That alone, for me is huge.

I clicked the link within 5 minutes of the article posting and nothing was available on my carrier either. I'm hoping they are just taking some time to get this set up but knowing Samesung, they just dropped the ball.

Since when? Those two iOS devices were singled out as they extended the typical support from 4 years to 5 years. Show me one Nexus device that has received updates even for 4 years. Google has promised major updates for 2 years and security updates for 3 years after the release for Nexus devices (or 18 months after the last sale date, whichever is longer), and they've already demonstrated that they're sticking to that 3-year limit by not releasing the Stagefright patch for the Nexus 7 2012 as it's more than 3 years from its original release. That sucks especially for European customers who didn't get even 3 years of support and were left with a massive hole wide open in their devices.

Look, I like Nexus devices (I have a Nexus 5 and used to own a Nexus 7 2012 as well), but claiming that they are better supported than iOS devices is just plain BS.

That's a huge advantage indeed. I also like the non-restricted NFC as I can do some home automation with programmable tags and check the balance of my public transport travel card.

The iPhone 6 is my primary phone, but there are things I need my Nexus 5 for. I'd like to see some of those features introduced in iOS as well.

Again I have to question why someone who appears to have vitriol enough against a company to call them an epithet would even bother with this offer. It's not really for you, now is it?

most of the apps you can change, like any standard Android

But there are a few short list ones that Samsung decided you MUST have as your default. Samsung Player is one. And Samsung's Clock is another.

even after installing Android's Clock, using "ok Google" to set my alarm still only sets them in Samsung's clock. There is no way to disable this, or to tell it to use Google's clock instead.

Well not to sidetrack this convo - but it is on topic. I'm trying to decide on the Note 5, S6. I've all but ruled out the LG G4. The Nexus 2015 could be an option - except it's a longer wait and hardware/software for the camera never comes close to Samsung...

And this is exactly why I avoid Samsung and other heavily customized Androids :) If I'm buying an Android device, it had better be a Nexus or maybe a Moto.

Very on Topic ;p it's about Samsung trying to win over customers :p

Haven't spent much time with the G4, other than 10 minutes at a showroom. And haven't obviously touched the 2015 Nexus 5 year.

The G4, with leather back felt good in hand. Very good screen, though, still not on par with the S6. My problem with it is size. most devices over 5" are just way too uncomfortable for me to use. Couldn't last more than a week with the Note 4 cause of the size.

Would love to see a 4.7 -> 4.9" flagship phone again. one designed more with small borders like the S6 than that of the iPhone (which despite 4.7" screen, is nearly identical dimensions to the 5.1" S6)

Samsung has been kicking ass this year. The new edge, waterproof, wireless charging, better screen, better camera, and now this promotion which is signing up a lot of MacRumors users/lurkers.

This is coming from an Apple Fanboi. I hope Apple steps it up because what Samsung is putting out in the market is quality and comparable to the iPhone.
