I order mine, I just put in some random information and used my $500 credit limit card for that $1 charge. If don't return the phone I wonder how they will go after me.

Thats not how a credit hold works. You would see a pending but not completed transaction that would reduce the available credit. In your case your card would be declined.

That's not how this promotion works. My card was charged $1.00. My available credit has been reduced by $1.00. A better response to the above user's comment is, how do you expect to receive your phone if you just put in random info? They need a verified shipping and billing address. Then if you don't return the phone, they either charge your card, likely putting you over your available balance by several hundred dollars or send your info to collections.

Unlimited data doesn't just magically fall off for any reason. That is only possible when changing your plan which you specifically agree to.

In the case of the best buy method, you agree to the plan change, but since best buy and other third party retailers don't have access to Verizon's systems, the plan change isn't done directly to your account and is instead linked to the sim card that gets sent out with your device. Since with the best buy method you don't ever use the sim card that comes with it, the plan change never takes effect.

In the case of the "4-ever" method, you're transferring an upgrade to another line and choosing the data plan for the line the upgrade was transferred to. Since you never selected a new plan for the unlimited donor line its not possible for it to get changed.

In the case of putting your sim card into another device, it's never going to just magically drop off. You aren't buying a subsidized device and you're not agreeing to a plan change.

No longer quite true.
At least on AT&T the network recognizes the device being used.

If the device doesn't fit what the plan/covers allows or can't be identified 1 of the following happens:

A> Data services are suspended or removed from your account

B> System Auto Changes plan to comparable or lowest data tier plan that fits your device and you'll get a prorated bill

( yes I've legit had and seen this happen particularly when swapped my SIM Between iPhone and non iPhone devices and that's why I stopped doing such with my AT&T SIM )

C> AT&T Contacts you multiple times warning to switch to a compatible plan or their will be risks

D> some combo of the above

It's not exactly "free"

At any rate I'm going to sit back and wait for the following headlines
( or least thread post ) :

"Samsung sees mass trial returns in poor condition. Trial not according to plan"

Or

"Mass unreturned devices reports Samsung! Thousands lost on non payments millions lost attempting to collect fees from "problem" trial device users"

And I'll get some chuckles :D:p:rolleyes:

Again, that's not how this works.

You should probably reread the T/Cs. There is an entire section dedicated to defects and repairs.

"
4. REPAIRS OF EQUIPMENT

If the Equipment is not in working order when delivered or subsequently malfunctions during the Rental period, the Customer will notify PMK or its designated representative immediately.PMK will repair or replace the Equipment as soon as possible after it has been notified of the problem by the Customer and, provided the Customer is not in breach of the rental agreement, PMK will provide the Customer with the same or similar Equipment as soon as possible for another thirty (30) day trial period. No Equipment will be eligible for replacement following the twenty-first (21st) day of the Rental Period. Customers shall be limited to one (1) replacement during the Rental Period. If PMK finds that Equipment reported as faulty is actually in working order then the Customer will pay the cost of collection and delivery of the replacement Equipment."

Yes, but any lawyer can throw that out based on the other point. See how it creates a loophole?

already out of phones:

"Thank you for your interest. Due to the overwhelming demand, we are temporarily out of test drive phones. Please keep checking back for available phones."

Yet another reason to leave AT&T.

I'm so sick of AT&T! Having been with them since they merged with Cingular it has gotten ridiculous with the number of restrictions and other work arounds they have created, especially when it comes to those of us grandfathered in on unlimited data plans. Instead of rewarding those of us that have been loyal customers they have made it to the point that I no longer wish to be with them. Unlimited or not, once the 6S is released I will be with a new carrier.

Yet another reason to leave AT&T.

Not really it's totally fair and reasonable of them to do that to some extent if you're using a device on a plan not intended for it especially unlimited data you're essentially cheating the system or trying to steal ( use ) service you aren't actually paying for.

Using say 60GB on T-Mobile Unlimited data cause you have a smartphone? Totally fair cause their terms and conditions allow it

Using 60 GB with Any other carriers on a grandfathered plan
( AT&T Metro etc )
Violation of Terms and Conditions as they were never designed or updated for using smartphones

Ideally would be nice if ALL Cariers follow TMO and actually rollout modernized unlimited plans preferably
Unlimited 4G LTE

But we can all dream
AT&T still has the edge in a variety of areas over most cariers

This is why consumers should FULLY Read and understand ALL Terms and Conditions as well as research ANY Carier fully before they decide to commit ( agree via signing contract/Using service etc )

And I mean more than talking to in store reps who get a commission on snagging a sale

Just like every new iPhone after initially going on sale?

Yes? I'm not sure what you are saying. I'm just saying this wasn't impressive since they probably had an incredibly small number of phones to send out for $1. Apple sells millions within minutes. I doubt Samsung gave millions away in this promo in minutes being that it wasn't advertised.

I'd love to try one for 1€ or even one plus 2. But after a month they can keep their garbage, going from 6-6S.

Again, that's not how this works.

How is this not how it works?
If people are desperate, malicious or criminal enough there are probably flawed ways to get out of Samsung being guaranteed Sales or collection if people violate the rental or try to keep their phones

People could cancel their cards, cards can expire, etc

Sounds like that girl in high school who gave a 30 day free test drive. With any luck, the dumb bloke will screw up and end up paying alimony... um, I mean replacement costs.

These are as bad as free cuddly toy or alarm clock with an insurance policy. If you can't convince someone to switch by offering a better product you're just chasing a world of hurt. In broad terms you get what you pay for and samsung are cutting corners somewhere and that scares the **** out of me.

Another question if I am not a subscriber of sprint will I still get data usage and voice calls or will the phone be locked?

Of course
You're getting the phone on a Trial bases
Plus 30 days of some sort of trial services/service plan on your available network of choice on Samsung's tab

Wouldn't be much of a trial if you couldn't use it lol though given Sprint's awful network good luck getting useable service coverage lol

I lost my iPhone and i didnt want to buy 6 so close to 6s release, so i decided to buy Galaxy S6, because it was on promotion and i got a good deal. Also i wanted to try android to see how special it is as some say.

What the hell. My worst buy ever. I dont really know where to begin.

I will mention couple of things.

1. Battery life is really bad. I just got back home from work and i left with 100% and now i have 40%. I had 32 minutes of on screen time. So really bad.

2. Apps are really of much worse quality. Bad selection.

3. Android gets slow and i have to restart every few days. It even has an option in settings to do that at specific times. Real WTF moment.

4. Nothing that comes even close to iMessage/FaceTime integration.

5. Camera app is buggy and lags a lot.

6. Chrome slow and laggy and can't be compared to Safari.

7. Scrolling is just really bad overall across the board.

8. Fingerprint scanner is much more inaccurate than on the iphone.

I really have no idea how 8 core CPU with 3 GB ram and good GPU can performe so bad.

iOS is so smooth.

What i like:

1. Wireless charging.
2. NFC if Samsung Pay comes to my village faster than Apple Pay. If not then duh.
3. Picture quality, but not the camera app. App sucks balls.

I don't understand how this is supposed to work.. wouldn't it require an activation fee from the carrier?.. and it would be the odd man out of my ecosystem, I wouldn't be able to sync across all my other devices.. what about iBooks? iTunes? Contacts? Calendar? iCloud? Mac Mail? Photos?

Seems like more work and inconvenience in my case.

Samsung gives you a temporary # They own with 30 Days of service all fees etc on their tab lol

Iphone 4S and iPad 2 will receive iOS 9 with no delays, no bloatware. Wake me up when Android keeps 5 year old devices secure and up to date.

My 4S is unbearable on iOS 7, let alone 9.

My 6 still isn't as fast at navigating around the OS as my 4S was on iOS 5/6. It's a shame they no longer seem to care.

Just like every new iPhone after initially going on sale?

Except Apple does not do a special where you can rent the iPhone for 30 days for $1. Please explain how what Samsung is doing is the same as Apple selling out the iPhone.

I can see Samsung reporting all these rentals as sold units. Because Sansung is not above doing something like that. Maybe even counting them twice, once for the rental and once when they have to wholesale them out when they are returned.

A phone company offered a trial promotion to try and tempt some loyal subscribers to another brand. Price is nominal, but of a loss leader, stmdard business practice to get folk through the door.. So you extrapolate that into that somehow they care cutting corners.. On what exactly.. The best screen on the market.? The best camera on the market. The nicest looking design on the market.. After one month, price is standard price that they normally are... And here's the thing.. It scares the crap out of you !!!! What on earth seen you talking about man.. Can you explain in simple term what you are scared of ?
