Did anyone select a carrier that is not their carrier? I wanna try the 6edge+ but it's Verizon only and I'm AT&T. Wanna try the bigger phone to see if I want a 6s or 6s+.
They quickly ran out of stock for the Edge+ and Note 5 on AT&T. Since Verizon devices are unlocked, it should work.

Verizon LTE devices are unlocked. Should work just fine.

I'm confused though. It says it comes with an activated sim. Doesn't that mean it comes with its own service and I don't have to transfer my sim? Last thing I wanna do is screw something up with my sim and lose my unlimited data.

That confused me as well. I wasn't sure if we could just pop in our own sim and use it as is, or we had to use the activated sim that comes with the device. I am going to wait until later on to see if the devices become available on AT&T.

According to the Engadget article's comments - it comes with a month of service on your existing carrier. Whatever that means.. You'd think it would be more specific.

I think I might sign up for the Verizon one. Worst case I'm out a dollar lol.

I've been an iPhone user since the beginning, I've always been curious about what Android has to offer. I signed up for the S6 Edge. I've got the 6+ right now and I have very mixed emotions about the phone. I don't think it's the prettiest iPhone ever, and the size, while great for usability, is cumbersome for me to carry around. I plan to upgrade to the 4.7" 6S when it is released. I have friends who are big Android fans, so I've always been curious to give it a shot, but the thought of changing ecosystems for a year or two commitment was basically unimaginable. I'm excited to see what Android has to offer. Let's see what it can do.

Just got the edge + from verizon as tmobile one was out of stock. Pretty cool! Will try out. Though was having a hard time deciding between note and edge... +

I own both iOS and Android devices, and I am enjoying the best of both worlds. That being said, I'd find switching completely from iOS to Android to be a bit difficult and uncomfortable, because the experiences differ greatly.

iOS is smoother and does what it does in a fine matter, while Android does much more in an okay (sometimes not so okay) manner. Those used to the performance and reliability of iOS may find themselves disappointed with Android. And power users may find themselves more comfortable with Android, but that's a minority of those that use iOS.

My recommendation to the general consumer that is using an iPhone or iOS device is to stick with it. Repurchasing apps is a drag. And getting used to the experience on Android may be difficult, especially because it sometimes doesn't do some stuff quickly and reliably, because the experience is different. You may become irritated.

Be like me and enjoy the best of both worlds. I have an iPhone as my daily-driver because it's responsive and reliable. I can send text messages quickly, open apps quickly, and never worry about encountering issues. But I also have a Galaxy Tab S (and soon a OnePlus Two) to suit my power user needs.

tl;dr - If you'd like to try Android, buy a separate Android device and stick with your iPhone unless you're a power user.

Hey Samsung, are you reading this?

If you want me to try out your phone, guarantee me three years of stock vanilla android updates, available day 1 when released by Google, just like Apple does.

I've been burned by lack of Android updates and abandoned phones full of never fixed bugs, including Samsung phones, too many times.

Android is dead to me because of this and I will never look back

UNLESS

You, or Google, or SOMEONE fixes the broken update model.

Iphone 4S and iPad 2 will receive iOS 9 with no delays, no bloatware. Wake me up when Android keeps 5 year old devices secure and up to date.

Still a happy user of iphone 4s with latest update, hope Apple keeps it supported.

Okay, cool. I'm with AT&T and going to try out a Verizon model too. Don't want to wait for AT&T units to come back in stock. This will be a perfect test run for a larger phone! Thanks Samsung! (Never thought I would say that)

Wow, Samsung are desperate!

Or, they're confident that when people try the new phones, they will like them.

They're simply removing the barrier of entry - and there are plenty of people who would consider switching, but can't be bothered with the effort or expense... this might motivate them to do so.

Besides, if only 5000 actually make the switch that's still $4Million in sales for them. Seems smart.

"More evidence Samsung just "don't get it." That's it!
Very late, if any updates, bloatware with no end, endless updates for this bloatware
apps. I'll switch back to iOS, much better user experience! The only good part
is the camera of the Samsung ;).

Well... that's what happens when you've got 3 separate entities involved with the phone.

Samsung makes the hardware... and they get their operating system from Google while also putting their own stank on it... then the carriers get involved too by controlling the update process and adding their own software and whatnot.

I really don't see that process changing anytime soon.

And then there's Apple's approach:

"The iPhone’s hardware and software are designed together. Because when we design the whole phone, the whole experience is better."

Apple also put their foot down long ago and told the carriers to keep their grubby hands off the iPhone.

The result? Every compatible iPhone on Earth can download an update just moments after it launches.

I gotta admit the Apple method of updates is solid. I like how they decide what features you will get and which ones they reserve for their newer models as your old one can’t handle it, but you needed a new phone anyway and it’s just the impetus you needed to go out and give them more of your money.
What I also like is the way they quash bugs immediately and don’t leave them irritiating users for ages. Especially that iPhone DST alarm clock thing which only happened once so even though the US last revised DST in 2005, which was so long ago that Apple forgot about it, so we can give them kudos here.
