Bring It On. I'd try it. I mean, it does have all the latest technology before Apple does.
As an iOS developer running into high end android devices time to time I can imagine how lost an average iPhone user will be on an android devices. So it might be full of whistles and bells, but when the interface is so different, the first month of testing won't be that wonderful.

Iphone 4S and iPad 2 will receive iOS 9 with no delays, no bloatware. Wake me up when Android keeps 5 year old devices secure and up to date.
Yep, and make them practically unusable the second they get those upgrades.. You know this, I know this.. Everyone knows this..

Thinking of "testing it out" sell my iPhone for a good profit now test the Samsung out and give it back and buy my iPhone 6s so I could have a phone in the meantime lol

Second that. I‘m not a dev but I did find my two weeks with an Android phone to be very full on. So many settings, switches and options.
I felt like the kid that bought a graphic equaliser instead of relying on just a Bass and Treble control. Despite having unlimited adjustment range I could never seem to be completely satisfied with the setting I’d chosen.

not really a fan of the curved display, but wireless charging..... someone is doing things right... and it comes with an IR blaster right?

Innovation my ass, rose gold guys, ROSE GOLD!

p.s Force touch is actually semi cool. Not amazing, but I am interested to where it will lead
Samsung did away with features this time around so the Note 5/S6+ Edge does not have the IR blaster.

Pls edit your post and delete the, ‘……..if any’, part. I am considering a switch, which makes your post inaccurate.
I will wait till you really switch and wont return to iphone in 3 months after the switch.. and you know, that this wont happen :)

2 minutes playing playing with it at Best Buy was long enough for me...

I already took my test drive earlier this month, and one day with the S6 was long enough for me.

Their mobile division is obviously in trouble right now, and it's clear they're desperately doing as much as they can to dig into the iPhone market before September.

I order mine, I just put in some random information and used my $500 credit limit card for that $1 charge. If don't return the phone I wonder how they will go after me.

Oh they'll get their money, or disable the phone and throw the account into collections. Also, depending on your credit and the card you used, if you're opted-in to go over the limit, the charge could still go through + additional fees. Sounds like fun.

Is Samsung stupid? Here is an idea... get better customer service, get rid of ALL crapware/bloatware and prevent carriers from putting their sh***t on.

Their design is beautiful. I had the edge, but the amount of crap (I counted 48 non-core apps that aren't even samsung or google) that plagued the phone was too much for me. I couldn't uninstall most of it, and disabling it didn't seem to do anything, they were still active in memory. Waiting for years for a carrier to send updates, just not my thing.

Apple has a ton of bugs too, but I called them, they helped me, I was happy.

Notifications on a tiny side screen. If I have my phone out. And it's pointed the correct way.

INTO THE TRASH, USELESS APPLE WATCH!

This feature ranks right up there with whatever bumping phones was supposed to do a few years ago. I know plenty of people with Samsung phones and they never brag about bumping phones to share crap. About the only thing they'll rave about is how they're the size of a textbook or how "customizable" they are. Ooh, I'll trade widgets for security right now!

This is why competition is great for us consumers! I hope this competition last longer than AMD vs Intel

I've been using iOS and Android since they came into existence, and since the Note 3/Nexus 6 experience, Android is my choice for smartphones, iOS for tablets, Windows for hybrids (surface pro 3), and OS X for laptops.

The thing is, you've gotta give Android a few days to get used to.. It's a bit of a learning curve, and it is different but not inferior is any way.

The complaint about immediate OS updates is resolved if you own a Nexus device, so that argument is moot.

The Note 4 has been amazing, just like the prior version, and I'm sure 5 will be just as great.

I love tech, and use whatever works for me instead of being a fanboy.

One month before Apple does...

:)

Well, actually, Samsung has had for example
- 4K video recording two YEARS before Apple (assuming the iPhone 6s does receive 4K)
- dual camera access for at least two YEARS before Apple (assuming the iPhone 6s does receive dual camera access - it's highly unlikely)
- Qi charging at least one YEAR before Apple (assuming the iPhone 6s does receive Qi charging)
- fully Wacom-compatible(!) pen for at least four YEARS before Apple (assuming the iPad Pro indeed has a decent, active pen, and not just a useless capacitive one)
etc.

Where does it say 2 day shipping?

Can't find that anywhere. All my email says is I will get another email when it ships.

When I did this on my iPhone after the registration I had it pop up saying something like "we know your in hurry to check out your device - so we made it 2 day delivery for you" something very similar to this.

So this promotion is only for iPhone users? If someone owns an HTC, LG of Moto phone they're out of luck?

I think a lot of people are like that. This is the problem Apple had early on with their Macs. A lot of Windows users or ordinary people that just listened to them would always say, ‘Oh but they’re too expensive and there is no software for Macs’, which of course isn’t even close to being true, (except the cost bit), and never really was. There was a lot more for Windows but the market had a good selection available for all.

I strongly suspect a lot of users have never even used Android at all, or remotely long enough to make an informed decision.
I spent a lot of years talking people out of Macs as a Wintel tech guy. Now I laugh at myself for it. It should not take extended use to know if a device or software is well designed. IOS and Mac OS are designed with the user experience as the focus. Android and Touch Wiz are designed to wow the tech heads. Even the stupid screens over boost the color to impress, but pictures taken on them can look terrible elsewhere because you are not seeing the real imagery.

So only the Nexus gets the updates, but you recommend Samsung Note nonetheless?

Somehow your arguments cancel each other out.

That is a very safe bet, actually.

Oh obviously.... that's what Samsung is counting on.

I hear lots of people here saying "why not" or "there's nothing to lose"

The question is... how many iPhone users are teetering on the edge of switching to Samsung? And how many are doing it for the "why not" factor? And how many units are we talking about here?

This has got to be one hell of a process for Samsung to deal with 4 major US carriers, setting up this billing process, and so forth. It's a lot of work for something that has no guaranteed payout.

In this thread earlier someone said if Samsung gets 5,000 new users... it's a good thing.

I don't think a corporation like Samsung gets out of bed for 5,000 new users. This is a company who can sell 20 million units of a particular flagship phone.

So how many units is Samsung planning on having available for this test-drive? And what's their expected gain?

Remember... Samsung already lost people to the iPhone when the iPhone 6 and 6+ came out. Is Samsung trying to get those people back? And add additional people?

We've all seen promotions for free cookies or free shampoo.

But this is Samsung sending you a $700 phone and $100 in Verizon credit to play with for a month.

They really want you to like them.

Nexus devices get updated the same way as iPhones, i.e. no OEM bloatware or extras and on day one... This was mentioned in response to folks cribbing about Android devices not getting timely updates.

However, Samsung (Note series only imo) have a better user experience, albeit a bit delayed on the OS updates.
