Samsung also has a new "Galaxy Club" early upgrade program that costs $8.33 per month and eligibility to get a new smartphone every 12 months.
These subscription services have really gotten out of hand.

Also, why bother when U.S. carrier upgrade and trade-in deals are often better than this?

Apple isn’t having a great month… we’re there rumors it would become the first 4 trillion dollar company a week ago?

So what is there apart from AI and software features? Just a new UW sensor for only the Ultra, and a new chip of course.

None of these sofware and AI features seem particularly useful, except for circle to search which is already out.
How about a good working assistant that can do multiple tasks for you and is able to do follow up questions? Ever tried that with Siri?

I wonder if they ever fixed their camera software so indoor pictures of kids or animals don't all come out so blurry. iPhone handles it much better, though not as good as the Pixel. I still miss the Pixel camera after returning to iPhone couple years ago.

The apprentice has become the master. Apple is officially way behind. The only saving grace is Apple's ecosystem, but is it enough to save Apple from morphing into Blackberry, which could not see the forest for the trees?
Samsung’s ecosystem is as good and strong as Apple’s. Together with their home appliances (tv’s, refrigerators, washing machines, coffee machines, etc.) they offer the whole working spectrum.

Apples soon to be released command center might solve that with the braindead Siri.

They’ve sorted that out years ago. Have you watched the capabilities of the camera’s in the movie?

Looks like my S22 Ultra is good for another year then - nice improvements, but no must-have feature.

I gather the S Pen has been dumbed down, and can't operate as a shutter button for the camera any more. That's a shame. I don't use it often, but it's a nice feature to have.

Can we please stop calling AI - Artificial Intelligence? It really isn't at this point, its not autonomous thinking, its supervised and right now its not doing anything useful.
No. My AI coffee cups disagrees with your statement. ha! I was just telling a client about how they are sticking AI in front of everything. 😐🙄

So are the AI features announced with this phone coming to any previous models?

Most probably. There is not one reason for not bringing any of them to the previous series. As a Samsung fan, I find the S25 Series a complete disappointment. All is about selling refined existing features as new. I was shocked they presented Best face as something new although they had it in S5 (10 years ago) already. Or the ages-old custom filters which are really cool, but it is an insult to sell something as new and groundbreaking that almost all existing Galaxy phones have - right now. Or the "Now brief": what the heck, moving its position from the center to bottom and give it a name (admittably refined, but still just a refinement).
I hope they bring next year the 10X zoom back.

Definitely. I have one of them, too. Alone the 10X zoom is more worth than all the new AI features.

All three of the new smartphones are equipped with a customized Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that is built on a 3-nanometer process. There is a 37 percent improvement in CPU performance, a 30 percent improvement in GPU performance, and a 40 percent improvement in neural processing and image processing compared to the S24 lineup. Samsung says that the new chip makes it possible to process more AI experiences on-device, mirroring one of Apple's key artificial intelligence aims.
I think this sounds lika a good improvement over the previous chip (which was already good). Will be interesting to see how it compares to Apple’s current and upcoming (this year) offerings.

If that is the real 25 Ultra in the picture then it definitely does not have rounded edges.

Phone prices at this level are crazy, Apple's included. And these companies wonder why people have stopped their yearly upgrade cycle.

Crazy? The starting price of the 3.5" display 16GB iPhone 4 in 2010 was $649 or around $940 in today's dollars. The starting price of the much larger, more capable 6.2" display 128GB Galaxy S25 today is less at $799.

When adjusting for inflation, today's more capable smartphones are often cheaper thanks to lower starting prices, generous carrier offers and trade-in deals. Additionally, overall smartphone ownership/use is made even cheaper thanks to lower carrier plan prices.

IF Apple is changing their camera cofiguration to a single line, THAT is what I am hoping to see: camera alignment along the long side of the device, not the short side (top). I also light the smaller corner radius of the Samsung device.

In defense of the short-side alignment, it would significantly reduce if not eliminate wobbling when on tables.

I think every 3 years for someone to upgrade their phone is about the sweet spot.
