Refinement is good only when apple does it. Got it.

Or better yet apple is so far behind that the are unable to make a competitive foldable smartphone vs Samsung anymore so they decide to stay away.
I only said that MKBHD says it was “slightly” refined. I couldn’t care if it were an iPhone or a Samsung or anything else. The point was that Samsung were apparently “Crushing it”. That’s hardly true now is it? They just barely updated it.

I trust that if Apple were to do it, it wouldn’t have that crease. If it did, I’d still stay away from it. If people are happy with the compromise then that’s up to them. I don’t care what people do with their $1800. I just don’t want to waste it on a phone that will last 2 years when mine will last for 4+.

It makes no sense to be a fanboy of a phone. It’s just a market place to sell you stuff.

My concern for Apple is, the longer iPhone users choose to keep their devices, the more reason they have to consider other options. Also, a user who usually keeps a device for years doesn't feel trapped enough to upgrade to a new iPhone. They just use it for what is. If one of these Samsung phones fancy their eyes and needs, they just might make the move.
It would really have to be a game changer for people like me to just toss aside the entire Apple ecosystem — iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and iPads, AirTags, Apple TV, etc., etc.

I'm in too deep to leave the walled garden! While the Fold looks cool, it's not enough to convince me to abandon ship.

The Z Flip 3 got the line in 2 months...
LoL, no it didn't the phone in that parody of a clip is the original Z Flip.
If there's an app that allows a bet between two people I'm willing to do it. A bet that in 2 months since it went on sale the Z Flip 4 will break in masses. Let's say 100$ so you don't lose that much money. What do you say?

Starting to get bored waiting for a foldable iPhone, and with the Apple Watch 8 and iPhone 14 Pro looking like it is basically a refresh I might actually switch from the Apple ecosystem. Right now Apple doesn’t seem to be coming up with something new, their 8” still only has a 60 Hz screen as the only option.

Ran the Fold 2 for 6 months and it was like new after that time, sure the weight and size in the pocket isn’t ideal but that is okay. The biggest issue was software but with Google jumping on it that with Android L it might be fixed. The battery life was a bit low as well so I wonder how the new chip will work,

Got to say Samsung is making me a little jealous. Years ago I would say I couldn’t trust their newer tech but I think they have come a long way. Still wouldn’t leave the Apple ecosystem

Unlike Apple reviews, Samsung doesn't try to control the narrative of the review. I haven't seen any major reviewer get black balled by them, the way Apple has done. So Apple reviews will always be tainted.

That being said, who gives a heck what these reviewers have to say. most of them are full of themselves, and get off on the "influencer" label. Most of us have been using mobile phones much longer than a lot of these so called professional reviewers. As if their opinion matters on what I buy. They're mostly paid shills in some form or another.

One last thing, Samsung flagships have so many features beyond the regular settings menu. And to truly know this, you need to be an actual user of the device. We know most of the reviewers are iPhone users. If you want to see a real thorough and accurate review, watch one that is with an actually Samsung user.

You and I and a whole lot of people are the exception. But the reality, there is also a lot of users who are not that invested in the ecosystem either. My mother for instance uses WhatsApp and so do hundreds of millions users world wide. Even though there are over a billion iOS devices, its partially why the iPhone is not really growing in some regions of the world.

Nothing of what you said make is not true.
For example: https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-controls-88-foldable-smartphone-market/
And it will only grow with the latest generation.

They just barely updated it.
More like the made the right updates. The new foldables are a slight but welcomed refinement in terms of visuals. Overall they will fair much better than the generation they replace because of the much better chips and cameras they have inside.

I trust that if Apple were to do it, it wouldn’t have that crease.
I trust you are just making an assumption that isn't based on anything.
Apple launched a laptop with a notch, a foldable with a crease is definitely not out of the question.

Apple users are trained to accept all kind of weird compromises(like a monitor with a cable they can't unplug, laptops with weird keyboards that break in masses etc.) so I don't see what's the huge problem with the crease.
There's no indication that Samsung's foldable last for only 2 years. I mean in Europe Samsung has to give 2 years of warranty by default, and most electronic stores alow for warranty extensions, they wouldn't do that if these foldables only lasted for "2 years".

This is for you I guess.

The fingerprint sensor on the side is a nice feature too. I really wish Apple would do that.
Sony has their fingerprint scanner on the power button. This is the most logical place to put it; press to turn on and it automatically scans your finger at the same time. Samsung S10e phone also has it (which is a fantastic all around 'compact' phone).

It's really weird how noone else does it this way, it makes so much sense.

Billions. Whatsapp is the most used messaging app world wide. I suspect more iphone users world wide primarily use Whatsapp instead on iMessage.
