Waiting for Apple to release their folding phone, so we can progress from "nobody needs a folding phone" to "my folding iPhone is great" stage of acceptance on this forum.
I don't see why I'd ever like a folding phone. That being said, please quote me in like x years time when you spot me going "damn my folding phone is great af" so you can throw it back in my face.

Nice line up! Not going to lie Samsung has already come a long way when it comes to folding devices.
Honestly don't hate samsung's latest build quality. It might be because they have some similar design language to apple in the more later devices, but either way, i'm impressed. It's too bad those phones run android.

I fully believe in the potential of folding phones. The Fold is just not there yet. Outer screen is too narrow. No dust resistance. Device overall is very thick and heavy. I think folding phones will be a viable option for the mainstream consumer in a few more years when they get better and come down in price.

i really want that flip one!

but the soft screen is a deal breaker. can you put a plastic screen protector on them? i dont want to spend that kind of money and end up with a wrecked screen

Apple won’t because the tech is soooo bad still. If you look at frickin demo units and they have scratches.

So mistreated units in the store has scratches? So does my iPhone that lives in my pocket, the Fold 2 I ran for 6 months had zero scratches on the large screen and the normal amount on the outer screen.

And that’s why people are holding on to their older iPhones longer. They are not fooled these days. Apple has been selling pretty much the same phone since 2017. The fact that there are over 240 million iPhones ripe for an upgrade and they are not budging is concerning. Think about those on 11, 12, 13 in the coming years. They are not gonna be rushing out to get 15, 16 and 17.

It is price creep also. The iPhone 11 started at $699 .

https://www.macrumors.com/2019/09/13/iphone-11-iphone-11-pro-pre-orders/

[ in up front + hidden financing payment era ( so called 'subsidized' ) $299 to price in the open and rest 'hidden'
https://www.macrumors.com/2014/09/09/apple-announces-iphone6-iphone6plus/
]

Now Apple is reportedly going to try to pitch that $799 is a bargain on the entry model and slap increases on the rest of the line up. ($829 if get it unlocked at full price ).
[ Yes will be able to buy "last years" iPhone at a more reasonable price. But as they inflate the 'first year' prices that one/two year old discount price keeps rising also. ]

Customers sitting on phones for 4 years instead of 2 years isn't a huge problem for Apple after they adjust the pipeline expectations. If the user base of phones spans 8 years then still getting folks coming out for upgrades every year. As long as there is steady churn , it is still steady income. That 'churn every 2 year' rate was artificially low. That largely was not being driven by purely on consumer choices about the very high perceived value of new features. There was lots of "you have to churn because everyone else is churning" action going on ; among other non consumer driven factors.

How come Android supports 24 bits hifi audio and Apple complains about Bluetooth and can’t support it?.

What use do you have for 24-bit audio? Even on my HiFi setup at home with Sennheiser HD 800S headphones and Hegel HD12 DAC and Schiit Magnius amplifier, there is no need for 24-bit audio. I see even less use for it on mobile devices. Humans don't have great hearing and it degrades every year after you are born. 44.1KHz@16-bit is covering about twice as much as the human hearing can perceive at its optimal stage. What possible need do we have for 24-bit? Pretty much every double-blind test in existence has proven that no one is capable of telling 44.1KHz@16-bit and 192KHz@24-bit apart. Most people aren't able to tell a lossy 44.1KHz@16-bit 128kbps AAC lossy encode apart from its original 192KHz@24-bit master regardless of the level of equipment being used for playback.

I love great audio, don't get me wrong. But 192KHz@24-bit is pushing far into placebo territory and pretty much all evidence is proving how useless is it.

Okay listen, I get it. You love Samsung products and hate Android slander. But we have to be realistic,
More like you have to invent things to support your beliefs, you are not realistic at all.
And excuse me for disturbing your hating spree. Do go on.

folding phones are not ready. They're too much of a risk for how much they cost.

This coming for somebody that tries it's best to invent negative stuff about foldable smartphones.
Anyway as Samsung provides from +1 year of warranty for their phones your suggestion that Z Flip 4 in general smartphones will simply break after 2 months makes ZERO sense.

Uhh no, look in a target and tell me what you see. A crappy scratched screen
I will take a snapshot of the displayed Z Fold 3 and Z Filp 3 from my local electronics store. They have no scratches or permanent lines on the folding screens. Yeah, every single one all right, LoL.

BTW in a store rn and look

Why would an iOS user care about a folding phone running Android? Unless you are one that doesn't really care what operating system and ecosystem you are running it wouldn't make much sense for you to care about what folding phones Samsung is releasing.

This notion of Apple users not caring about what else is on the market has more to do with the fact that iOS users tend to prefer iOS for whatever reason, and most are most likely heavily integrated into an Apple ecosystem. These users don't suddenly pick up a phone that doesn't integrate with their existing ecosystem just because there is a foldable phone available.

Of course, these users are much more likely to be interested once Apple releases a foldable phone because then they can consider it as it will integrate with their existing ecosystem. I have so many paid apps on iOS, I use AirPlay on a daily basis, I have an Apple One subscription, Apple TVs, Apple Watches, utilizes Apple Family Sharing, hand-off to macOS, etc. The list is endless.

I find foldable phones interesting, but nothing sold by Samsung interests me as it won't fit into my lifestyle at all. But once Apple releases a foldable phone I'm going to be very eager to see what it brings. This has nothing to do with nobody caring unless Apple is doing something.
