Waiting for Apple to release their folding phone, so we can progress from "nobody needs a folding phone" to "my folding iPhone is great" stage of acceptance on this forum.
I think price and yield are the prohibitive factors. Samsung would love to supply folding screens to Apple, but I doubt many would be interested in a $2,500 iPhone that unfolds into an iPad mini. That would be the price point to support Apple's margins. But that may change if yields improve.

Yeah, at least Samsung admitted they ****ed up with their exploding batteries, and provided support for those who needed to board their flights while still complying with new airline rules about them. Apple in the meantime still insists they did nothing wrong with their butterfly keyboards (even though they went through with a multimillion dollar lawsuit. Because if you did nothing wrong, you still pay out in lawsuits, right?). And folks here on MR and elsewhere were pissed of how little money they got relative to the hassles of downtime, and having to keep having their keyboard repaired. Last but not least, it was mentioned replacing the keyboard involved replacing was it, the entire front panel of the keyboard, making it even more costly and time consuming? If they're going to put this sort of "innovation" into their future products, it's probably better Apple steer clear of foldable phones, and just stick with rounded rectangles. (go figure why they went so sue-happy there :D)
It EXPLODED in your pocket

Furthermore, some will insist that Apple invented that concept :D

Android Take The L

But seriously, these things are still overpriced gimmicks. $1800 is more than a lot of Macs.
But yet, for most of us, the phone will still be the one that's more used of the two.

I like how Samsung likes to try new things, but I would still be curious about the screen protector lasting. for such an expensive device and the screen protector built in bubbles etc after 7 months. it would drive me nuts and I would want it replaced.

GF bought the Flip 3 almost on launch. She is rough with her device (Warehouse Delivery Coord) and has worn out 2 Samsung cases (w/ ring). Had to replace her screen protector once a couple months back as it separated on one side of the fold and was slowly growing. Simple to do. Took about 5 minutes. No other issues with the screen.

It has been a trooper and looks new under the case.

Cute but I'm the one that only has to post 1 single picture to prove you and the other guy wrong with the "every single one" generalization.
And here it is, a 1 year old Z Flip 3 in perfect condition. As the reviewer explained it's his personal phone which he has been using for a year. And you can see it has no permanent lines or scratches, he also mentioned he constantly folds it and didn't experience any problems.

Why is it always the forums about phones that are the dumbest? Seriously you can't talk iPhone or Android anything without it instantly devolving into childish phone warring.

this war was since 2010...12 years later still this? Jesus christ, even teenagers got bored of smartphones tech to care about any fights

So no permanent lines and no starches after 2 months, how can this be?😂

Mac vs PC isn't even like this anymore. Hell hardcore PC users are even more accepting of Macs nowadays than they were 15 years ago. It feels like all the people in that argument moved on to iOS vs Android, only it's even worse.

Actually interested in the smaller one. Wish Apple would come out with something similar. So hard to leave the Apple eco-system.
