I'm not saying Apple's decision was the right one, but surely Samsung and other companies have learned by now not to mock Apple for something they'll invariably do themselves in a couple of years time once it becomes the established norm.

Ditching something early doesn't always make you 'right'. Being on time matters too. Apple ditched USB about 5 years too soon. They ditched SD Card Readers about ... 25 years too soon. If you ditched your DVD/Blu-Ray player anytime after 2016, you're probably about right. If Apple made Blu-Ray players, they would have been trying to stream exclusively in 2003. If Apple made clothes, they would ditch all the pockets and 200 years later hope Star Fleet was the norm. That said, ditching the power brick and earpods after 10+ years of market saturation ... feels about perfect.

I'll have to pay around 70€ to get Earpods, Lightning cable and 5W charger. No, I don't already own those. What really sucks is that Apple lightning cable is proprietary. If Apple was for real they would include a promotion where you can get them for free or massive discount if theres need. There should be a law that prohibits this. You don't sell an consumer electronic product with no way to power it.

Have to say, first time I recall agreeing with Samsung on any of their marketing communications cell phone related. I just think it is complete BS that Apple raises prices as much as they do and them eliminates the chargers and ear buds. Then has the audacity to say it is to meet environmental goals when it is super obvious it is for financial reasons.

I've said it in other threads and will say it again here....... I am a large investor in Apple and I like them making more money. But this move is BS.

I too joke about contributing to climate change.

i think the insult stems around the claim that the accessories are no longer included to save the planet.
I think that's pretty hard to swallow even for rabid environmental fanatics.

Not really. Have you seen how much smaller they've been able to make the boxes?! They'll easily be able to fit twice as many iPhones onto each plane now. I literally have like 5 pairs of headphones and an obscene amount of chargers. I'm glad Apple won't be giving me yet another pair to sit in a junk drawer for years.

Samsung is so pathetic in their products and such kind of jokes. Let they stay just OEM for SSDs, display modules and chips. At least nobody will see them obviously.

Didn't Samsung make fun of Apple for removing the headphone jack, then eventually do the same thing? I suspect they'll get there digs in early, then in a year or two, also remove the charger.
No, they still have it.
Edit: Actually, the very latest models don't. And dang, their site is confusing.

Nothing wrong with not including a charger with the phone, unless they don't compensate by dropping the value of the charger from the final cost. Drop the charger, drop the price. Awesome. Drop the charger, don't change the price. Jerks. Drop the charger, raise the price. To the 4th circle of Hell with y'all.

For all the love/hate Apple gets... they are the winners.

Samsung has been the most miserable successful smartphone maker out there. By all accounts they have decent phones, some cool features, but they have this fetish of mocking Apple before they copy them. I truly don't get it.

All Apple needs to do is a commercial for each of the things they did first that Samsung later copied. Packaging, headphones, removing headphone jack, battery, etc. Right, wrong, or indifferent it would simply say that Apple leads and others follow.

Samsung has a long history of mocking Apple's design and product decisions, oftentimes prior to adopting some of the same changes. Samsung this year is targeting the iPhone 12, which competes with its Galaxy Note20 5G and Galaxy S20 5G lineup. In addition to the rib about the power adapter, Samsung has also shared a tweet that mocks Apple for being late to introduce 5G.

Apple's first iPhone 12 models will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow, with the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro launching first. The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-order on November 6.

IIRC it's been a while since they last did, I in fact thought they stopped these moron practises, I guess they haven't learnt their lesson yet...if they ever will.

Apple does even better: Never mention Samsung because they're not worth a mention.
